When the Galaxy Wept

Chapter 153 Kill Him

He looked up and saw the dark sky. Was she at home and worrying about him now? When the machine men took him, he could only let his men send the message to her that he had a task and couldn’t go home. She couldn’t know about this before the baby was born, no matter what happened. Fortunately, she didn’t know he was going to be tortured. A tall and strong military policeman approached him with a long whip. After the machine men occupied the planet, they reorganized the military police to ensure the security of the city. Obviously, this man didn’t know Patrick Lewis. He stood indifferently a few meters away from him, with the sleeves rolled up and showing his strong arms. There were barbs on the alloy whip. The instrument of torture was developed by Patrick’s subordinates when he was the leader of the military police. Patrick knew that taking a whip was more painful than being beaten hard by a stick. Besides, the sharp barbs would stick deeply into the skin and rip off the flesh. Instead of closing his eyes, he looked calmly at the dark sky. The silver whip fell on his body with the wind. Even though Patrick was tough and strong-willed, he couldn’t help but moan. The sharp pain was like fire, burning his chest. He lowered his head and saw a long wound dripping with blood. Some of the citizens covered their eyes with their hands. Patrick suddenly started to smile. He thought that he really wasn’t a good man because he felt pleasant when the people felt sorry for him. The military policeman was surprised to see his smile. He swore and whipped him again. When the sky was completely dark, the stars were particularly bright. The citizens were all silent. They could only hear the sound of whiplash on the square. “Kill him! Kill him!” The citizens were affected by the violence. Some of them shouted loudly as if even the slaughter of one of the humans could release the pressure of being ruled by the machine men. There were also a group of people trying to break through the guard of the machine men, shouting angrily. “Let him go! Stop! Stop beating him!” The policeman had lost himself, using all his strength to whip Patrick. “Enough!” Kahlil, who had been solemn, rushed to the policeman and grabbed the whip. The policeman shouted and jumped at Kahlil, but Kahlil kicked him down. All the people were silent, including the ones who shouted: “kill him.” Kahlil walked to the man who was tied to the crucifix with tears falling from his eyes. He thought maybe he was wrong. He should’ve let Patrick die like a hero when they colonized the planet, which may be better than being tortured in the cheer of his people today. He pushed Patrick to the center of the storm. The more he wanted to protect Patrick, the more Evan Silas wanted to torture Patrick. Maybe in Evan’s mind, Patrick was not only a threatening rival but also the symbol of Kahlil’s humanity, so Evan wanted to destroy him little by little. Thus, Kahlil’s humanity would be destroyed. Why did he, Kahlil Silas, try everything to protect Patrick? Because of their friendship or because he selfishly wanted to prove his simulated humanity? He walked to Patrick step by step, feeling terribly upset. He wondered whether he saw Patrick clearly. How could Patrick be this way? He should be arrogant, pretentious, aggressive, and cold. Except for Emerald, he never took anyone seriously, including Kahlil. But now, he was so dirty and weak, like a man crawling out of a pile of dead bodies. It seemed that anyone could strike him down and make him fall deeper into hell. There was almost no good skin on his body. In the light of the night, there were several bones showing under his flesh, like a turbid and static vortex, causing pain and confusion in Kahlil’s head. “Let him down.” He said in a trembling voice. “General, should we send him to prison?” The machine man asked. “No!” Kahlil shouted, “Send him home!” Send him home to his wife. Kahlil cared about nothing now. He knew if Patrick died, the man called Calman Henry inside him would die with Patrick. The plane stopped on the parking apron at the base of the southern hemisphere. The base was filled with anger. Countless people were waiting on the apron. They didn’t know that Patrick was taken away that day until they got back to the base. The news made them crazy. Although the machine men threatened them with guns, they wouldn’t get into the room or go back. When stretchers carried out Malcolm and others, the soldiers rushed to them crazily. The soldiers started to wrestle with machine soldiers. The parking apron was in chaos with gunshots and screams. Kahlil didn’t even look at them and let them fight with each other because he didn’t care about the life or death of humans or machine men. His plane parked directly outside Patrick’s house. He and his trusted subordinate carried Patrick out carefully. Soon several men ran out who were the captains of Patrick. They suddenly looked angry when they saw Patrick on the stretcher. But maybe because Patrick once said something to them, they suppressed the anger and followed Kahlil into the room. The doctor soon came and tried his best to check out Patrick’s situation and treat his wounds. The men, who were the toughest on the planet, all cried. “Seth,” Kahlil said to his subordinate with red eyes, “You take a team and stay here before he recovers. No machine man can get in here, even the subordinates of the Commander can’t.” The people could only be silent when they saw that he was so angry. After a few hours, the doctor finally had a deep sigh, “If the high fever can be gone tomorrow morning, he can survive.” “If he dies...” Kahlil looked at the doctor, “You will all die.” Suddenly, Patrick’s eyelids moved, and he wanted to open his eyes as if he could hear the doctor. Since he was whipped on his nose and the corner of his eye, he couldn’t open his eyes and could only force a crack. But everybody was excited and surrounded him. “Emerald. Where is Emerald?” His voice was as weak as a mosquito. This simple question was like lightning hitting all the people. They were all stunned. Emerald. Where was Emerald? His whole body was bleeding, but where was his favorite woman? Kahlil also felt weird and asked with a low voice, “Where is my sister-in-law?”
