When the Galaxy Wept
“Baby, if mom can’t protect you this time, don’t blame me. In this dark era of colonization, your mom and dad can only sacrifice more for the happiness of more people.” Emerald tried not to be scared and worried. She held that small stagger, which could cut through iron as though it was mud, and carefully leaned against the wall. Maybe because there were many machine men guarding the hospital, there was no machine man in this room, which was locked from the outside. Emerald put the stagger into the wall and cut around, and the lock was cut out. She opened the door and walked out silently. She didn’t believe the Major. If they wanted to kill all the pregnant women, he wouldn’t let her stay alive. Maybe he only wanted to keep her in the room. As soon as he made sure that Kahlil didn’t know about his action, he would immediately come back to kill her, so she had to run away now. This was the first time that Emerald felt the cruelty of the machine man since they were invaded. They never killed people for no reason, so most of the humans were content with the situation now and obeyed the rules of the strong but benign rulers. But that machine man talked about killing babies only for resources with no emotions, which meant they may have done this many times on other planets. This may even mean that the machine men didn’t want to live long with humans. Humans would be exterminated if there were no babies born anymore. Emerald shivered when she thought about this. Then she saw a machine man in the front and hid in the clinic beside her. All the pregnant women probably were all kept in the inpatient department, which was bigger. The clinics on this floor were all empty. Emerald felt more and more hopeless after she had walked around silently for over ten minutes. There was no way that she could get out because the machine men were everywhere! She decided to take a chance. Emerald was very lucky when she tried to kill the first machine man. The machine man was gazing at the medicine shelf on the wall outside the pharmacy of Chinese medicine and didn’t even realize that Emerald was approaching him. Emerald then stabbed him directly in the neck. Then she cut his arm off, but she couldn’t use it. Her plan to get a gun failed; Emerald breathed heavily after running for a while. When she dragged the machine man into the pharmacy, she saw two machine men were running toward her from the end of the hallway! Emerald started running! But she couldn’t run fast with the baby in her belly. The machine men were nearer, and she was afraid of death now. She was afraid that I would shoot her. Then she looked up and saw an X-ray room. She thought that maybe the machine men were afraid of the radiation and she could get out of this, so she opened the heavy door and rushed into the room. She leaned against the wall. If the machine men got into this room, could she still say that she knew Kahlil Silas? Could she kill both of them the moment they opened the door? What should she do if she lost the baby at last? Her head was full of thoughts. She cried with the knife in her hand. She felt disdain for herself. How could she cry when faced with only two machine men after experiencing so many big wars? She had cried enough because of the emotional mood since she was pregnant. Maybe it was true that pregnant women were emotionally weak. Then she found out the machine men didn’t come to the room. She was surprised. Maybe they didn’t find her! She felt relieved and turned around unconsciously, but then she was stunned. A man, wearing the black shirt of the mercenary, was sitting on the scanning stage in the center and looking at her. He was tall and strong. Though he was not very handsome, his face was angular, and he seemed tough and cold. The first two buttons on his shirt were undone, and his tan skin and chest muscles showed. He looked at Emerald silently. Emerald only thought that this man was familiar, but she couldn’t think of whether there was a man among the mercenaries. But she must have been impressed the first time she saw a special man like him. But she was still lucky to meet a human here and could use help from him. Besides, he was a soldier. Emerald saw that he didn’t bring a weapon, so she covered her belly with her hand and walked to him, “Who are you? Why are you here?” The man frowned and thought about the simple question for a while, then he answered, “I am Captain Heath Ledger. I was wounded in flight training a few days ago.” Emerald was relieved and said in a low voice, “There were many pregnant women outside who the machine men captured. Can you help me?” Heath was a little surprised, “What do you want me to do?” Emerald felt frustrated, “I still don’t know what to do. I don’t have weapons.” Heath looked at her and didn’t have anything to say. When they were talking, they heard footsteps outside the door. Emerald was surprised and said to Heath, “Hide!” Then she rushed to hide behind a row of high perspective instruments. It was very narrow here, and if the machine men found her, maybe she could kill one. Wait a minute! Heath Ledger! Why didn’t he come? Emerald ground her teeth and pulled her head out. Heath was still sitting on that stage, and he even raised his hands and looked at them. He seemed pretty confused. Did this man hurt his head in the war? Emerald could only let him go since she couldn’t even protect herself. “Bang bang bang!” The bullets flew as fast as lightning from outside the door with the noise! At that moment, Heath was like a tiger who just woke up. He turned around and hid behind that stage and dodged the bullets! The two machine men marched into the room, and their red eyes were shining. Heath moved as fast as lightning. He suddenly seized the two machine men’s arms and then pulled their heads and bumped into them. After the noise of metal being crushed, the two machine men fell to the floor! Heath Ledger killed them with his bare hands! Emerald was shocked into silence. This man was fierce! Maybe he could even be a match for Patrick!
