When the Galaxy Wept

Chapter 134 His Wife Was Pregnant

Patrick held her in his arms, walked to their home in the back, and said lightly, “I have no choice since my wife is busier than me.” He meant that he had to come back earlier to have more time to spend with each other. Emerald couldn’t help but laugh and just stared at him silently. He was moved by the beautiful face and her smile he was so familiar with, and he lowered his head to kiss her. “Wow, Major’s husband is so handsome!” “Really? Wow, good job, Major!” The students behind them kept screaming. Emerald’s face was blushed, and she pushed Patrick away. Patrick turned around and looked at the students coldly. After they saw Patrick clearly, they couldn’t say anything as if he was a ghost. ****A year had passed, and the machine man hadn’t come yet. The vision they saw in Crystal Planet was like a knife hanging over Patrick, the President of the Alliance, and the Marshall. After that day, Eternity had been in the imperial state of war-footing, and even the Queen of Zergs claimed that they could fight with the Alliance if necessary. However, they had to stop after being in the state for six months. Since only a few senior commanders and leaders knew about the machine man, the soldiers and citizens couldn’t understand why they still had to prepare for the war after the Zerg had lost it. No one knew when the machine man would come if there were really a machine civilization in the universe. But the galaxy was still in a state of alert. With the production of new Cheetahs and the recruitment of new pilots, the army of the mercenary and the Alliance was at full strength. But they had lost many experienced veterans in the last war, so they were still weaker than before. The mercenary had sent more soldiers to the galaxies further away so that they could strike first. But they still hadn’t found any sign of the machine man. They went to that two-story shabby villa along with the lawn and saw a tall man was crouching in front of the lawn and laughing every now and then. It was Malcolm who was carrying his cute one-year-old son on his neck and crouching on the ground to pull out the weeds. When he saw that Patrick and Emerald were back, he smiled, “he wants this weed.” Upon seeing Emerald, the little Gerald immediately threw away that common weed and opened his arms to hold her. Emerald stooped to hold her, and the young boy laughed in her arms, and his hands grabbed her face and kept kissing it. Suddenly there were some muddy spots with saliva on Emerald’s face. After a while, the little Gerald was taken away by his dad to their home next door. He was calling Emerald, “Auntie Em! Auntie Em!” Emerald smiled happily, and she saw that Patrick was staring at her weirdly when she turned around. It seemed that he was thinking about something. Although they had been married for a year, she still didn’t understand him. Then she walked quickly home without saying anything. Though their home was shabby compared to the mansion of Patrick he had lived in before, Emerald loved it the most. After she took off the flight suit, she walked to the kitchen to cook dinner. After Emerald washed the vegetables, Patrick quietly held her in his arms from the back, and there was something hard on his body. “We can eat outside.” He started kissing her, “we don’t have much time.” Emerald pushed him away more firmly than before, “No, we can have a big meal at home.” He pulled her into his arms, “...Emerald, we should have a son.”Emerald was surprised and looked at him, “didn’t you persist in not having a baby?” “Having children is more important than preparing for the war.” He kissed her lips. Emerald just smiled. They had decided not to have a child. Though Patrick would never let Emerald go to the front line, he still let Emerald teach in the flight school. Since they didn’t know when the war would break out, Patrick thought they shouldn’t have a child at this time. He hoped that his child could be born in a peaceful time. Besides, it hadn’t been a long time since Emerald recovered. Maybe he changed his mind when he saw other colleagues had their own children one by one and that even Harvey McAdams was going to get married to his girlfriend. He was looking at Emerald carefully, and Emerald felt sweet. Then he said, “this is your duty. Let’s go upstairs and hurry up.” Certainly, Emerald knew that he loved the process more than the results. But she still refused him, “No.”“You don’t want to?” Patrick thought that she liked children and wanted to have one. “Yeah.” Emerald turned around calmly and kept cutting the vegetables, “now I don’t want to have a child with you.” A few seconds later, he asked seriously from behind, “really?” Emerald tried not to laugh. She knew that she scarcely refused him, not even in a joking way. That was the reason why he was so surprised. But she didn’t want him to misunderstand her, not for a little bit, so she lowered her head and tried to say calmly, “Yeah, I can’t have a child. There is no space now.” He was silent for a few seconds, touched her belly with his big hand, and pulled her into his arms again. Emerald put down the knife and grabbed his shirt though there were leaves of vegetables in her hands. He looked down at her and asked in confusion, “No space?”“Yeah.” She put her hand on his, touching her flat belly, “Patrick Lewis, it is an accident. He is already one and a half months old by now.” Patrick was speechless as he couldn’t believe his wife was pregnant. **** Four months later. The sunshine in the early summer was warm and agreeable. Emerald was lying on a rattan chair under the eave, watching the Cheetahs taking off and landing in the distance. Harvey was sitting in a chair beside her. He made a cough and handed a fax with a stamp of the Commander on it to Emerald, “Mrs. Lewis, the Commander, sent me here to give this to you.” Emerald sighed and took the paper, and she frowned, “Traveling for five hundred lightyears with others before three years old? Learning kickboxing at five? Driving the Cheetah by himself at ten? Did he make this list, Harvey?”
