When the Galaxy Wept
Under the red sky, the continuous brown hills undulated magnificently. The resort, City of Mercenary, was newly opened to tourists, which was a small planet 200 light-years away in the Lightning Galaxy. This was an unknown place for the mercenary to station troops, but now it became a beneficiary resort for Patrick. Hundreds of thousands of tourists from the Alliance came here to watch the “firing red stone,” eat the delicious food of the Orc and experience the wild atmosphere of the Orc mercenary. At nine o’clock at night, the night fair became crowded. The place around the Great Rift was the most crowded. The Great Rift was in the west suburb of the city, like a huge dragon crouching on the ground. The Rift started from a hill and extended to one-third of the surface of the planet. When they looked at it from a distance, they could see fog flowing out of the rough Rift and that the Rift was steep and dangerous. The lamps lit up the origins of the Rift. An Orc, who was three meters tall, was standing on a temporary stage. Ten old Cheetahs were parked near the stage. Its head was huge, ugly with muscles, and its teeth were gleaming in the night. There were about ten Orcs which were smaller, standing behind it. The Orcs became excited when they saw more and more people and shouted, “If you can fly for a mile in the Cheetah, you can get one piece of special cloth of the Orc; fly for ten miles, and you can get a planet crystal; a hundred miles and you can get a jade from the Great Rift, which was extremely rare. If anyone can fly along the Great Rift and finish the distance, they can get a mysterious gift. But no one has got that gift this year.” “It costs a hundred Alliance coins to take part in the game. Of course, if you can’t fly a plane, my soldiers will take you for a ride in the Great Rift for ten miles, which costs five hundred coins. If you want to buy souvenirs of the Orc, I have the list of prices here. This is a game for the heroes. We Orc love heroes!” The people who were watching them suddenly started discussing. The rich people who couldn’t fly a plane were asking about the safety problem and paid the money to hire the Orc mercenary to take them to watch the Rift in the Cheetah. Pilots from the Alliance also wanted to fly the Cheetah and showed their skills. Others walked to the stand to buy souvenirs of the Orc. Emerald was wearing a T-shirt and hot pants since it was warm on this planet. Her long legs were showing and became tan and red after days of trips. She walked around the stand, covered by all kinds of gifts, and then walked back to Patrick, standing still. Many Orc mercenaries had been looking at her beautiful long legs, and Patrick just watched her silently. Then, he took a long dress from his soldier, which he had just bought, and gave it to Emerald, “Do you want to try it on?”Emerald took it and said, “I can’t change clothes here.” Patrick pointed to the rest station for the police at the side, “It’s empty. You can go there.” He noticed that Emerald was surprised and kept saying, “Show me. I want to see.” Emerald still felt weird, but she followed him to the little cabin of the rest station and changed into the colorful long dress of the Orc. Patrick held her in satisfaction since the dress covered all her body except her arms and clavicle. After a few steps, Patrick found that more and more Orcs were looking back at them. The long dress for little girls of the Orc was perfect for Emerald, and with Emerald’s pretty face and perfect figure, Patrick admitted that he himself would look back at her a few times. Emerald also noticed that many Orcs were looking at her, so she looked at Patrick and said, “Is it weird?” The dress was really colorful. After being silent for a while, Patrick said, “Let’s change a place.” Emerald didn’t want to and said, “I want the jade from the Great Rift.” She saw that jade carefully just now, and the jade’s texture seemed pretty good. Although she didn’t know much about that jade, she just felt something special about that one. Besides, she was interested in this kind of game. Patrick nodded and said to the soldier beside him, “Buy it.” Emerald said immediately, “What’s the point of buying it? It’s only fun to win it.” At this moment, the people in front of them started to cheer. That tall Orc used a megaphone to shout, “This brave second lieutenant has just won a precious crystal for his girlfriend. We have got our first hero tonight!” The crowd started to cheer again, and the light of the stage was on that man now. It was a handsome young man with a shining crystal in his palm. A woman beside him, who wore a tank top and hot pants, was smiling happily. The two young people were so happy that they started dancing on the stage to the music. Emerald started to envy them. Patrick said calmly, “Do you like that?” Emerald started feeling bored in the so-called “honeymoon” with Patrick controlling her and nodded quickly, “I want to play the game.” Patrick frowned, “No.” Emerald had already read the introduction of the Great Rift, and she thought the geographic features of the Rift were similar to the Stone Belt that she had gone through many times, though it seemed dangerous. It was such a lure for someone who loved flying to be in a landscape that she had never been to. She thought Patrick would understand her, but he refused her even without consideration. “Let’s go,” Patrick said lightly. It seemed that he didn’t like being in such a noisy, crowded place. The soldiers who followed him were also about to go, but Emerald stood there stubbornly, “I will play the game!” She had had enough of his control. She knew he did those things to protect her. But why did he get to decide everything for them since they got married? All she could decide was what to eat for breakfast and the direction of their room. Why did he even get to choose what she could wear? He didn’t allow her to wear any clothes which he thought were too revealing, which were actually really normal.
