When the Galaxy Wept

Chapter 116 Why Are You Crying?

She still couldn’t agree with his bloody and extreme act. But after hearing what he said today, she felt neither the so-called blood Henry nor the brave Calman was completely him. She felt the indescribable sadness and desperation in him. She did not know why, but she did feel it. She also recollected Foxy, Bobbie, and Major Yednak, making her sad. When Patrick returned, she was still sitting on the bed and looking at the ceiling with wet eyes. He prepared to tell her Zach’s death originally, but now he changed his mind. He stripped off the coat and asked, “Why are you crying?” “For those who died.” She answered, “And Henry.”“Henry?” Patrick walked to her and asked in a low voice, “why for him?” “I think he hides the sadness deep in his heart.” But, she said, “Maybe I’m thinking too much.” Patrick touched her face and kissed it, “His father killed his mother and became mad, and his only sister committed suicide. Can it be called sadness?” “...” Emerald did not know how to answer. “What about the Zerg’s surrender?” she asked. “They promised to treat all the infected humans at once, and withdraw the troops, cede territory, and pay indemnities...” he said, “Bruce and Malcolm will take over the details.” “Have you thought about the living environment of Zerg’s planet?” She said, “even if they lose this war and are short of resources in the future, they will have no choice but to start a war again.”Patrick glanced at her, “they want to rent from me a small planet 300 light-years away at a high price.” Emerald was indifferent to that. Was he the last winner? Although it was a good choice for Zerg objectively, he was a truly “merchant who only did commercial transactions” as expected. “But we should also prevent their counterattack when they recover their strength,” Emerald said. “Yes, good consideration.” He held her waist, “So the Zerg queen is willing to be the hostage to be imprisoned in Freedom City for good and all.” Emerald asked, “Where is Zach? I thought he would come here today.” Patrick stared at her wet and red eyes, “He killed himself.” Emerald felt shocked. Zach! The straightforward and handsome Zach, the pale and languished Zach. She couldn’t believe Zach killed himself. Tears wet her eyes again, which made Patrick sorrowful. But he did not comfort her, just touched her face and kissed on her tears. Five days later, the war was settled. Patrick left half of the troops to handle the aftermath and took Emerald to return to Freedom Planet. Rumor had that President Lucas Sterling had tendered his resignation, and before the next president got elected, the vice president would temporarily take office. Because of Taron’s close relationship with Patrick, Zergs rented two icy planets to Patrick at a low price. Therefore at the moment, no one could compete with Patrick in power in Eternity Galaxy. When they returned, Harvey drove a cheetah, and Patrick held Emerald to the Stone Array again. Actually, Emerald felt much better after days of rest, but Patrick strictly followed the doctor’s instructions and loved holding Emerald in his arms; therefore, he did not let go of Emerald from his arms, even kissing her from time to time. Harvey sitting beside them, just smiled. The Stone Array had already been restored to the original place and looked like a mess at first sight. But Emerald knew that the Stone Array was balling up for sleep if they were looking from the sky. She led the Cheetah to the head of the Stone Array. Patrick was also curious and held her to “walk” to the vertex of the Stone Array with safety ropes. The atmosphere was originally vacuum, but there were broken stones and some unknown crystals floating around like clouds. Emerald shouted, “Stone man! I am going now! Take care!” The Stone Array did not respond. If not seeing it “wake up” to save others on that day, she could not imagine it could hear her words. Emerald thought for a while and said, “He is. ...” She paused, “my man. Thank you for saving him for me that day.” Behind the mask, a smile surfaced on Patrick’s mouth corner. At that moment, they suddenly felt the shaking of the stones under their feet. Patrick frowned and gave a sign to Harvey, and he immediately dragged them back to the Cheetah. Then there was an array of stones in the distance to form a thick arm which rose slowly to them. The stone arm was almost of a space fortress’ size and shook slowly in front of them. And the shake was still fierce to the Cheetah and made it almost crash onto the surrounding stones. The stone arm came back to the original place after a while, and it seemed to go back to its dream and had never moved. “It was saying farewell to us,” Emerald said. Patrick was a little distracted. After seconds of silence, he said to Harvey, “Arrange tomorrow’s wedding for us.” Emerald was astonished. Harvey said, “Commander, the time is too limited. The wedding of you and the lady cannot be too simple.”“Wait...why tomorrow?” Emerald intended to interrupt them. Patrick did not respond and asked Harvey, “So how much time do you need?” Harvey calculated, “The war has to be handled well. So at least one month.” “Okay, no more than one month.” He nodded, “at that time, she is supposed to recover completely.” Harvey smiled and drove the Cheetah back to the fortress. Emerald stared at him in his arms and protested in a low voice, “Did I promise to marry you? You didn’t even make a proposal!” “I did it.” He said, “That night, I asked you to give birth to my babies and be loyal to me. You did not refuse.” “...You said that was a notice!” She pushed his chest angrily but was held by him more firmly. Although they expressed their love to each other for only a few days, his love for her seemed to generate unnoticed. But...getting married immediately after their expression of love was too fast. Was this man always so decisive to seize whatever he wanted? But it seemed that he did not hear her protest and felt comforted by this decision. He stared at her, “Emerald, it’s of no use to delay. You must marry me.”
