When the Galaxy Wept
His words were pounding on everyone’s heart. Emerald thought of the scene every time she passed the stone circle. It had never moved before. Was it alive, or was someone controlling it? But who was controlling the stone? That would be scary! There was no one. Once the stone arm lifted them up into a high enough position, they could clearly see the battle in the stone circle, and everyone believed now that the stone circle was really “alive.” It was not a stone circle. It was a stone giant. The stone circle occupied a bigger space than before. But now, one-third of the stones under them moved secretly and silently. They were not messy or silent anymore. They had formed a human figure, lying quietly in space. The giant’s arm was lifting the Cheetah up, and two toes patted the warships of the Zerg. A space fortress that they were very familiar with was battling with eight Zerg space fortresses in the distance in open space near the stone giant’s head. Undoubtedly, something had activated the stone man. It had been there silently for thousands of years close to Galaxy Eternity, as the son of the universe guarding the galaxy. But now, it changed its shape and had “woken up.” The people in the Cheetah looked at each other in silence and disbelief. They had never expected to experience a miracle like this. After getting her excitement under control, Emerald stared at the space fortress, which was surrounded by Zergs. It was regularly hit by gunfire and trembled intensely. Emerald felt the stones under her trembling with the fortress. That was Patrick, she knew it. But why had he walked into this deadly situation?“Do you think the stone man can understand what we are saying?” Rosalind asked Henry in surprise, “After all, it just hit the Zerg warship to save us.” “Commander!” The co-pilot also stared at the battlefield underneath them, almost moved to tears. “Help me get out of the cabin,” Emerald said to the co-pilot with a trembling voice. The co-pilot raised his head and looked at Emerald in surprise. She repeated. “Second lieutenant, wear your spacesuit and helmet and help me get out of the cabin.” Emerald walked out of the cabin with the co-pilot’s help, both attached to safety ropes. From the wound in the leg, Emerald couldn’t walk stable on the stone and asked the co-pilot to help her. As everyone was watching them nervously, the two strolled from the stone under the Cheetah to the place between two fingers on the stone hand.Emerald had experienced many spacewalks, but this was her first time walking on a weird giant stone man. Looking down, she saw the infinite space and gunfire among the stones. How long could Patrick hold on? Taking a deep breath, she turned on the megaphone in her helmet and shouted from the top of her lungs to the stone surface, her face as close as possible. “Can you hear me? Can you?” No response. Emerald felt that she was acting naïve. How would stone understand her even if it was alive? She sat down between the fingers with the co-pilot’s help, who said worriedly. “What should we do now, lieutenant?” Emerald looked at the Dragon below them, her heart was about to pop out of her chest. Then, she suddenly remembered the scene where the stone destroyed the Zerg’s spaceship and suddenly came up with an idea. For the second time, she started to shout to the surface, this time with all her passion. “I need to save him! If you can save us, please help us save him!” The co-pilot thought Emerald was going crazy. Though the people in the Cheetah couldn’t hear what Emerald was saying, they found her behavior weird. Emerald wasn’t sure about why she was talking to the stone either. Was it because she had spoken to them so many times before, and now she was so worried about Patrick that she lost her mind? She felt dizzy thinking about it. Maybe she was injured and had lost too much blood, which was making her too emotional. She felt like she was going to faint. She was devastated. How could the Dragon hold on if no one came to help them? The co-pilot on her side suddenly looked up in surprise, and Emerald turned around to look in the same direction. She saw that everyone in the Cheetah was waving and shouting to them as if they were trying to warn them about something. Emerald and the co-pilot immediately turned around, stunned by what they saw next. Several huge, cold and hard black stones had formed an enormous hand. The stone man’s hand reached out to them from a long distance. “What is it going to do?” The co-pilot murmured. The stones were getting closer to them. With one tiny slap, it could destroy them into pieces. The co-pilot subconsciously took his gun from the waist, but Emerald stopped him. The stone, which was part of one finger from the gigantic stone man, had blocked everyone else’s view. Then, it crooked one finger. It was true. The finger, which was formed by three stones and was the size of a medium-sized warship, slowly bent over and stopped in front of Emerald, spreading out like a football field in front of her. Emerald stood up as everyone was looking at them in fear. “Give me your surveying rope, you can stay here.” She said to the co-pilot. The mercenary always flew to new planets for surveys, so they always took the micro punching device and ropes with them. She slowly walked to the massive stone in front of her. The stone was black, hard, and seemed endlessly big to her. Although it had been silent for thousands of years, it made Emerald feel warm and relieved. When she had thought that she would die, the stone saved her miraculously. She felt so lucky and amazed to have this supernatural experience. Her sufferings, difficulties, sadness, and worries that she had experienced since waking up in this galaxy were worth this moment when a stone came to her rescue. She had walked through the abyss of life by her destiny before, and now the silent but gentle stone returned her luck tenfold. She stumbled to the place between the fingers. The hand seemed to notice that she couldn’t walk smoothly and remained remarkably stable when moving down. The other two fingers reached out simultaneously, surrounding her in a safe stone circle. Emerald sat down and made a safety belt out of the rope if she’d fall into space. Then she took out her gun, though she was sure that personal weapons were like dust compared to the power of the stone. “Stone man!” She shouted with all her heart. She didn’t feel any sadness or suppression after all she had experienced. “Go! Let’s save my man!”
