Chapter 230 The Kelley Family

“The person who took Callum in belongs to a tiny firm with a background unidentifiable to most people. However, after my men looked into it, we discovered that the people behind them are the Kelley Family.” Harold’s voice rang in Christopher’s phone as soon as the latter answered the call. Upon hearing that, Christopher frowned. It appeared that this matter was not simple. The Kelley Family knows about my relationship with Andy yet they refused to give up, which indicates that there may be someone supporting them. “Okay, I understand. President Myers, Callum has always been very arrogant, so I bet that he must have some misdeeds that he had been keeping in the dark. I’ll have to trouble you to look into it since I’ve declared that I will be sure to send him to jail.” Then, he hung up the call. He cast a glance at Jefferey beside him and an adamant expression appeared on his face. I never offend someone if I’m not provoked. Since Callum has a death wish, I don’t mind playing with him for a while. In fact, Christopher had made himself very clear, so he would not let Callum go even if the latter had been a good citizen who abided by the law. “Divine Doctor Yard, Andy is going to start to take action on Lilian’s company. I’ve made a copy of all the evidence that shows that Lilian has been evading taxes and sent them to Andy; he will know what to do when the time comes.” Upon hearing that, Harold nodded. As this was nothing challenging to him at all, he promised Christopher that he would give him a clear result before the next morning. After ending the call with Harold, Christopher found that his phone was ringing again. It was from Andy this time, so he picked up the call. “Chris, Harold has filled me in on Brentwood City’s Art and Craft Limited Company’s current situation, including the evidence that proves that Lilian has been involved in tax evasion. If the evidence is proven to be legit, she will be jailed for a few years, at least.” A slightly excited voice was heard coming from Christopher’s phone. It would only be natural for Andy to be excited. Although his father had generously declared that he would unconditionally help Christopher to acquire the company, it still cost them a lot of money and they might have to pay a hefty price for it. As a businessman, he naturally would prefer to cut costs as much as possible if he could still end up getting things done. Therefore, things would become much simpler when Harold provided them with the evidence that proved that Lilian had been evading her taxes. On top of that, he found that the amount of tax that Lilian had evaded was not a small amount at all—it actually amounted to a large figure of several million. Under such circumstances, Lilian would have no choice but to give up on her Brentwood City’s Art and Craft Limited Company. It was Andy’s plan to hit Lilian with the most excruciating blow with the fastest and most efficient means, giving her no chance to fight back. As a businessman, he naturally knew about how to make things work like the back of his hand. Without knowing if Lilian had anyone backing her up, only using the harshest means could guarantee the success of taking her down with the smallest price. After the chat, Christopher was not in the mood to continue staying in the hospital. Just as he was about to leave, he suddenly heard a shriek, which carried a hint of fear and fluster. Frowning, he saw that beside him was a middle-aged man who was tugging a little girl’s hand. The girl’s face was full of tears as she struggled non-stop; her gaze was a little hollow but she just couldn’t break free from the man’s grip. She had two pigtails but her hair was tousled, and on her wrist was a clear red mark, which was formed when the middle-aged man gripped her too hard. “Darling, be good. You have to receive treatment. As your dad, I know about your illness. You have to receive immediate treatment, else nobody will be able to save you if your illness worsens!” The middle-aged man, who wore a tanned complexion and in a green t-shirt, kept pulling the little girl beside him while trying his best to persuade her. As he was speaking, he even jerked the little girl over to her, causing her to make a loud cry while her body trembled. The people in the hospital couldn’t help but to shake their heads when they saw the girl screaming. It seems like this girl is seriously ill. Such a pitiful father-daughter duo! Christopher shook his head as well. This father is too harsh to his daughter. Can’t he treat her more gently? Without suspecting anything, he called Jefferey and his man, then attempted to leave the hospital. However, at this instant, he suddenly heard another cry from the little girl, which caused him to pause in his tracks and turn around to look at the middle-aged man with a tanned complexion. “I don’t know you. My father has just entered the ward to receive treatment. Go away! I want to wait for my father to come back!” the little girl cried and struggled even harder. When she saw Christopher stopping down, she immediately reached out her left hand and a slightly hoarse scream escaped her lips, “Help! Police! Help me! He’s not my father!” Right after she said that, the tears in her eyes coursed down her face like rain and dripped on the floor; the fluster in her expression was now completely replaced by horror, and her voice now became heart-wrenching. “Let’s go check it out!” Christopher must be a fool if he continued to be oblivious to the unusualness. Coldly looking at the middle-aged man in the green t-shirt, he rapidly walked over to him. Jefferey beside him noticed something fishy as well, and he waved at the policemen behind him before jogging toward the strange middle-aged man. Upon seeing the situation that he feared the most happened, the middle-aged man revealed a hint of fluster on his face. He gritted his teeth and his expression instantly turned adamant before he immediately let go of the little girl’s hand. Then, he pushed her hard toward the policemen, who were running at him, before dashing off as fast as he could. When he passed by the people surrounding, he pushed them so that they fell down in the hallway to slow down the policemen’s pace. The little girl, who received a violent push from the man, would surely fall on the floor and then might injure both her arms; she might even fall on her face and bleed. In the end, the girl almost landed on the floor when a pair of fair arms swiftly held her from the side. The pair of arms were unscathed despite the powerful momentum of the fall. When the little girl raised her watery, adorable eyes, she saw a man with a smile on his face helping her up. The person who saved her was none other than Christopher. He tidied her slightly messy hair as he asked, “Are you alright?” Upon seeing the girl shaking her head, he put her down at one side after confirming that she wasn’t heavily injured. Just then, the middle-aged man who tried to escape was captured by the police. As the man was obviously suspected of child kidnapping, he had to be arrested and taken to the police station. Walter was naturally informed about the situation as he would be directly involved in dealing with this case. After giving Walter a call to have him detain the suspect at the police station, Jefferey, who had no intention to get involved with this case, left the Southeast District together with Christopher.
