God-Tier Like System
Harold’s expression changed drastically when he heard that despite how excited and joyous he was before. If it wasn’t for Christopher’s presence, he would have put on a glum look. “Those b*stards… Don’t you worry, Divine Doctor Yard. I will make sure to give you a satisfactory answer.” Still standing beside them, Scarlett was already taken aback by the scene. Therefore, she was absolutely dumbfounded when she found out that the owner of the Aston Martin treated Christopher so politely. She wasn’t expecting to witness such a shocking scene. What has he done lately? How did he come to know so many prestigious people? “Bring us there. I want to see what the doctors over there are capable of.” Christopher smiled. Without waiting for Harold’s reply, he had Madilyn and Scarlett get into his Ferrari. When the two women sat down beside each other, they somehow exchanged hostile glances with one another. Scarlett huffed without a word, while Madilyn cautiously checked on Christopher silently. Harold wiped the cold sweat off his forehead while mentally cursing the hospital’s general manager. The hospital charged three million for an operation on the leg. If it’s a cardiovascular surgery, wouldn’t it cost ten million? The thought of it made Harold feel uneasy. He wondered if Christopher would just fly into a rage and take Madilyn with him if he came to know that the hospital would charge such an expensive price for the operation. If that happened, he wouldn’t even know how to react. In response to that, he smiled awkwardly at Christopher before climbing into his car to speed to Crest Hospital. Christopher followed behind him closely. Soon, they arrived at the hospital. As soon as one laid eyes on the hospital, one could see the name plated in gold, which reflected a brilliant light into Christopher’s eyes. “Mr. Myers, you sure are rich. I am starting to wonder if the fifty million that I asked of you was too small of an amount.” Christopher observed the change in Harold’s expression with a look of mockery. “Surely you jest, Divine Doctor Yard.” Harold wiped the sweat off his forehead with an apologetic smile on his face. Recollections about the fifty million gave him much pain. If I had known how formidable Christopher is, I would have gladly begged him on my knees, and wouldn’t have insulted him. Without waiting for Harold to say anything, Christopher had Madilyn lead him to her father’s ward. He even told her that she had nothing to worry about now that they were at Harold’s hospital. Madilyn was touched by his words.Without saying anything else, she led Christopher to her father’s ward. There were five patients staying in the same ward. Because of that, the space was overcrowded, which resulted in poor air circulation. Christopher frowned at the sight. From what he gathered, the most a normal ward could accommodate was three patients. Yet, the hospital that claimed to have the most luxurious facilities had five patients living in the same quarters at once. The moment Harold saw the five patients, he couldn’t help but groan about it. Which idiot decided to do this? I hope Christopher knows nothing about the hospital. If he does, I wouldn’t know how to explain things to him. Just when Christopher was about to say something, a pretty nurse in uniform entered the ward. She had heavy makeup on, so her face looked alluring. Her nails were polished in a bright red color, and her hips swiveled from side to side as she sauntered in. As soon as she came into the ward, she glanced at Christopher. Assuming that he was the patient’s family, she didn’t talk to him. “You with the broken leg, come on out. Why are you looking at me like that? Anybody who can’t afford the operation fees will have to pack and leave within three days. Your time’s up, so you better get out of here.” The nurse sneered, her eyes betraying no emotion as she pointed at a middle-aged man at the side. When Madilyn heard the nurse’s announcement, her countenance changed drastically as tears welled up in her eyes. It was all because the nurse was referring to her father, whose leg was impaired to the point where he couldn’t walk. This hospital was the only hope left for her father. Nothing could be done to cure her father’s paralysis anymore if he were to leave. If that was the case, not only would her father have to live the rest of his life bedridden, but he would have to suffer immense pain. The thought of it left Madilyn feeling helpless, for she was already out of moves. Every time she and her mother visited the hospital, people would throw them looks because they didn’t have money. Upon hearing that, Christopher frowned while checking out the nurse in dismay. “Aren’t you going overboard? Didn’t you see that his legs have yet to heal?” The nurse smirked when she heard what he said. After casting him a glance, she said with a scoff, “Who are you? From the way you dress, you’re just a penniless scum! How dare you meddle in our hospital’s affairs? Our general manager was the one who gave the orders! Who dares go against his orders? Get out of here!”Christopher’s face fell to rock bottom. He never knew there would be people like her in a hospital. Without a doubt, the kind of boss in the hospital dictates the kind of employees that the hospital houses! Just when he was about to teach the nurse a lesson, he heard a loud and clear noise. Slap! Harold gave the nurse a hard slap. As the nurse shrieked, she fell onto the floor, an angry mark evident on her face. Lifting a hand to cover her face, there was a look of disbelief in the nurse’s eyes as she stared at Harold. Then, she shrilled, “How dare you slap me? Do you know I am related to the general manager of the hospital? I’ll make mincemeat out of you! Just you wait!” The nurse’s chest heaved as anger overwhelmed her. After flinging her hand, she got back onto her feet. She continued to curse as she backed out of the room. The nurse’s arrogance left a bad taste in Harold’s mouth. It was no longer an issue that only concerned Christopher, but it had to do with Harold’s pride. He got threatened by a nurse even though he was the chairman of the hospital. If word of it spread, his status in Brentwood City would be affected. He was determined to trace the incident back to its source, for he wanted to know who else, other than the general manager, was cocky enough to act out of line. Harold owned a lot of subsidiaries. Therefore, he only ever met the chairmen or general managers of the companies. The same went for managing this hospital, as he relegated the task of running the hospital to the general manager. In short, the only person who knew Harold was the hospital’s chairman was the general manager.
