Upgradable Space: Reborn to Survive the Apocalypse
Blake had even caused trouble inside the base. He didn't respect Nathaniel's authority at all. After Francis finished explaining, he suddenly smiled. "Caroline, I swear you're our lucky star. Every time the military gets involved with you, we end up solving major problems." He grinned even wider. "And now you don't just help the military—you help me! I just got a message from the front line. Kay is already on her way here. She'll arrive tomorrow morning! Hahaha!" As he spoke, he rubbed his hands together like an excited kid. Caroline rolled her eyes in her heart and quickly pushed Francis out the door. "Let's talk when Kay gets here tomorrow. I'm busy. These four panda cubs eat a ton. They're crying again!" She really didn't have time to chat. Francis didn't mind. He called out cheerfully from her doorway, "Caroline! I'll come back tomorrow!" She truly was busy. Besides caring for the cubs, she also had to deal with Shane. Earlier, Shane caused trouble because he didn't like the new room Francis assigned him, so he insisted on sleeping in the hallway. Right outside his room, which was right next to Nelson's room. No blanket. No pillow. Nothing. He just lay straight on the floor and started snoring. No normal person would be able to do that. Nelson said Shane had been sleeping on the streets for a long time. So, suddenly having a real bed made him uncomfortable. People with mental issues could get stressed when moved to a new environment and try to find what feels familiar. So Nelson told everyone to leave Shane alone for now. He'd talk to him later, once Shane felt safe. But the problem was Shane lying there made it impossible for people to walk through the hallway. Anyone who'd seen Shane's destructive power didn't dare get close. They tried to walk around him—but the hallway wasn't wide enough. So the hallway suddenly turned into a comedy show.People with the ability to climb walls went onto the walls. People who could stick to the ceiling crawled across the ceiling. Those who had no powers tried running jumps or long leaps. And if all that failed—or if someone was pushing equipment—they had to talk to Shane directly. Luckily, Shane was in a calm mood today. His face was pale, but he still moved aside. That night, Caroline rested for a bit, but she couldn't sleep deeply. Every time one of the pandas cried, she had to get up. Jet and Raven were very interested in the four little cubs. So while she slept, they guarded the baby crib. When she woke up in the dark, the first thing she saw was two pairs of glowing, round eyes staring at her like bright bulbs. Caroline had already given the upgraded healing spring water to Nelson so he could study it again. She was thinking that while she was staying at the base, maybe everyone could take another soak in the spring water together. Nelson hadn't mentioned going back to her storage space yet. All his focus was on researching Shane. Tyler had been working hard on his own ability these past two days. He seemed to be trying to unlock new ways to use it. Caroline thought Tyler's ability was already impressive. She had collected over a hundred abilities by now, and most of them were simple—making clean water, making a small ice ball, lighting a cigarette with a tiny flame, a small storage space, healing minor cuts, and so on. Flying ability, shape-shifting ability, or lock-on ability were already considered mid-level powers. The abilities she used often—even the ones with only one function—were considered high-level. And the really strong attack or support abilities were very rare. Denton's ability looked silly at first, but Caroline knew it was actually one of the high-tier ones. Raven's and Tyler's abilities were even more enviable. But Tyler still wasn't satisfied. All abilities could level up, but some had very low limits. Tyler hadn't reached the limit of his ability yet. That was why he kept pushing himself, trying to find how far he could grow.
