Upgradable Space: Reborn to Survive the Apocalypse
He sighed, and at the same time, he unlocked the safety on his gun. "Francis, we're both smart people, so let's cut the talk. Commander Zimmer initially ordered me to kill you directly. But we worked together for a while, and I know you managed the shelter very well. I came here to persuade you. But if you won't listen, I'll have to follow orders. "And don't even think about using your ability on us. Our guns are specially modified. The moment they detect any energy wave, they'll shoot automatically." Just as Philip finished speaking, the soldiers beside him all clicked off their safeties. It was clear they had come fully prepared. They were all soldiers, they all had abilities, and everyone knew each other's abilities because there were detailed records for that. These specially modified guns pointed at their heads were specifically designed for this exact scenario. Francis sneered. "Colonel Leonard, why don't we talk somewhere else? Even if you're going to kill me, I don't want to see blood in front of Commander Ball's grave! If I die, remember to bury me next to him. After all, I had no parents my whole life. Only Commander Ball treated me like his own son." Philip frowned. He really didn't want to kill him. But Francis sounded like he was ready to drag everyone down with him. "Don't worry. I might not want to live, but I don't want to see my men die. I won't make any rash moves," Francis said, walking backward first. The others followed him out of the cemetery. After moving to an open area, Francis and his men were still surrounded in the middle, with Philip's men on the outside, all holding guns. Francis glanced at Colonel Philip and sneered. "Oh, Colonel Leonard, since Commander Zimmer wants us to surrender and plans to kill us if we don't, then tell us what his plans are for the future. Otherwise, how are we supposed to know if following him means eating well or starving? This is the apocalypse, and resources are scarce. If he's going to treat us badly, we might as well die now." Philip quickly summarized Andrew's plan for them. In short, Francis would be demoted, his soldiers split up and reassigned into Philip's troops, completely dissolving Nathaniel's forces."Don't worry, your pay and treatment will be the same as ours. You won't be mistreated," Philip continued to persuade him. However, it was clear from Philip's words that while Francis and his men would be treated decently, the overall management style was completely different from Nathaniel. Everything Andrew planned was to secure his own power, not to protect the people. "What if I don't agree?" Francis asked with a smile. "Francis, you know what that means." Philip's finger tightened slightly on the trigger. Unexpectedly, Francis's grin widened, almost playfully. "Now, now, Colonel Leonard, don't get excited. After all—" Before he finished, faint sounds started coming from all around. The sound was extremely faint and perfectly synchronized. It sounded like a bowstring being drawn. "It's too early to say who's winning." As soon as he spoke, the sound of arrows cutting through the air filled the field. He and all the other soldiers moved. Crouching, hands up, disarmed. The sequence of actions was seamless. Philip's troops turned in panic, thinking the attack came from behind. Arrows rained from the high ground, whistling straight into their backs. Some people fired their guns, but with all the abilities bursting out instantly, the guns that were aimed correctly lost their accuracy because they had to defend against the attack from behind. Within seconds, Philip's men lost all control of the fight. Even Philip himself was pinned to the ground by Francis. In an instant, the situation reversed. Philip gritted his teeth and glared at Francis. "You planned this all along?" Francis said with a smirk, "Colonel Leonard, it's not that I was prepared." "I was the one who was ready!"Suddenly, a slightly older voice rang out from the very center of the group. Nathaniel, who should have been lying in a coffin, walked out wearing his uniform. The moment Philip saw him, he understood everything. Andrew had just been outplayed. Cold sweat immediately broke out on his forehead. Francis suddenly crouched down so their eyes met. Francis sighed and said, "Oh, man, just to put on this act for you guys, I led these kids from the shelter in a thorough practice session last night. Things like crying, having tears in their eyes, saluting, not walking the wrong way, ambushing from high ground, and all that. None of us got much sleep last night! Look at these dark circles."
