Upgradable Space: Reborn to Survive the Apocalypse
Summer shot Francis a look that said it all. Nelson was a handful. He had lots of strange habits. Francis rubbed his nose and chuckled. "It's fine. I'll thank Caroline later." Summer hurried over to check Nathaniel's pulse. After a moment, she smiled at the others. "That weird armor kept Commander Ball alive. And now that Nelson gave him the medicine, I think he's already 50% recovered!" None of them knew the truth; Nathaniel had made far better progress than Summer's estimation. In the coming days, he would miraculously sit up, stand, and walk briskly. Even the white hair on his head would start sprouting new black strands. After all, when you mix the armor from the storage space, the healing spring water, and Nelson's supercharged blood, the power is unbelievable. But no one guessed what Nathaniel would order once he woke up and understood the situation. "Don't tell anyone I survived," he said. "Spread the news that I'm dead. Hold my funeral in three days." Everyone froze. Then they understood. Nathaniel was planning to lure out the biggest threat. The old commander still had sharp teeth. Caroline didn't come downstairs. She was busy getting everything ready so Denton, Tyler, herself, and all the pets could soak in the healing spring water. Nelson, who had just woken up, shared what he'd learned from studying the spring water. All the chaos of the past day wasn't pointless. He had discovered the most effective way to use it. Drink it and soak in it until you pass out. After a good sleep, you'd wake up feeling lighter, stronger, and healthier all over. Nelson had drawn a tube of his blood right before coming downstairs. He ran a quick test as fast as he could. What he found shocked him. His blood was way more active than before. If Nelson guessed it right, his ability level had gone up. Not only that, but his body felt stronger, his mind clearer, and even his vision and hearing had improved. He could tell his body seemed younger. "Caroline, this spring water is unbelievable! I need more time to study it," Nelson said excitedly before heading downstairs. After hearing his results, Caroline made a quick decision. Everyone would take a healing-spring bath tonight. Right now, Nathaniel was downstairs. The shelter's defense level was at its highest anyway. "Alright, pick your tub and line up," Caroline said. She dipped her hand into one of the wooden tubs and smiled. "Perfect temperature." The whole scene looked funny to her. In front of her, Denton and Tyler were wearing the fluffy robes they always used for baths. A whole line of small animals stood neatly in rows, waiting to enter their tiny tubs. Even Caroline had a robe over her swimsuit. They were all soaking together for safety. If anything happened, they could look out for each other. Caroline suspected she'd stay awake the whole time anyway. She doubted she'd even faint like the first time. "Okay, it's ready. Everyone in," Caroline called out. Denton and Tyler dropped their robes. Caroline did the same. Denton pushed off with one foot and jumped straight into his tub with a loud splash. Tyler walked over to his wooden tub. Right before stepping in, he glanced at Caroline, who was wearing a swimsuit. Just one glance—that was all it took for his face to turn bright red. From that moment until the moment he passed out, he didn't dare look her way again. He just kept gulping down spring water like it was the only safe thing in the room. Denton, sitting in the tub beside him, watched Tyler blush and drink nonstop. "Tyler, why is your face so red? Don't drink so fast. What if you need the bathroom later?" Denton asked. Tyler clamped his mouth shut and said nothing. For the first time in his life, Tyler wished Denton would talk less; that was a good change. Meanwhile, Caroline was secretly sneaking glances at Tyler too. Hmm. Nice chest.Tyler sat in his wooden tub with the water reaching just below his chest. He wore a pair of tight black swim trunks. That was it. Nothing else. The clear spring water wrapped around him, making his abs and strong legs shimmer faintly beneath the surface. Caroline glanced at him a few more times, then she forced herself to look away. But she never expected that her small, stolen glances would be noticed. Jet, from the side, suddenly flapped his wings and shouted, "Human! Human! Why are you looking at Tyler's tub? Is there something fun in there?" Caroline's face turned red. Before Jet could jump into her tub, she reached out and shoved the loud, clueless bird straight into the water. Hmm, good thinking. This is the quickest way to make him shut up.
