Stronger Every Time I Die
The entire Gray family was in shock. Everyone knew how much David cherished Richie. His love for his son was just as strong as their own love for Zac. And yet, he was actually making Richie apologize to Arthur in front of so many people? Zac was completely baffled. Wasn’t Richie his father’s favorite? How did things turn out like this? Guess his position in the Xander family isn’t as solid as mine in the Gray family. A lot had happened in the past few days. His parents and sisters had learned about some of the things he had done to Arthur. He could tell that their attitude toward him had shifted, even if only slightly. But even with that change, they had never forced him to apologize to Arthur. They still cared about him. He had thought he and Richie could continue bullying Arthur together, but now, it was obvious—Richie was finished. Arthur looked at Richie calmly, not saying a word. It was impossible to tell whether there was any sincerity in his apology. After everything he’s done to me, does he really think a simple apology is enough? If a simple apology could fix everything, then what’s the point of having laws? Richie stood there, waiting for Arthur’s response. But with David's cold stare on him, he didn’t even dare to straighten up. David stepped in front of Richie and spoke to Arthur. "Arthur, I know you’ve suffered. And I won’t pretend that a simple apology is enough to make things right. But like I said before, if you ever need anything from the Xander family, don’t hesitate to ask. We will do everything we can to help you." Without waiting for Arthur’s reply, David grabbed Richie and left with the Xander family. Once they were gone, the enormous Gray family estate suddenly felt strangely empty. Everything had happened so fast that the Gray family members were still struggling to process it. David had found out his son was in the wrong and had immediately made him apologize. Compared to that, John’s handling of the situation looked utterly ridiculous. John felt a little embarrassed. He hadn’t expected David to react that way. All he had been focused on was making sure Arthur didn’t ruin the relationship between the two families. The Xander family was just as powerful as the Gray family in South City. They couldn’t afford to offend them.Zac clenched his fists, unable to say a word. Arthur wasn’t the same as before. He wasn’t easy to push around anymore. Every time Zac had tried to go against him these past few days, he had ended up losing. And after what had just happened, he didn’t dare make another move. Arthur broke the silence first. "Mr. John, I’m here to take back the declaration of estrangement. I assume you’ve already signed it?" The moment Zac heard declaration of estrangement, he looked at them in shock. "What declaration of estrangement?" he asked instinctively. John and Raelynn avoided his gaze, their expressions uneasy. Before they could say a word, Susie was the first to snap. "Arthur! Don’t push your luck!" Zac glanced between them, gripping his fists tighter. They were hiding something from him. That had never happened before. Until now, he had always been kept in the loop about everything in the family. Raelynn quickly tried to smooth things over. "Arthur, what are you even talking about? We’ve already cleared up what happened. Your father isn’t upset with you anymore, so why bring this up now?" Oh? Even after everything, they still think I’m the one at fault? John scowled, his frustration clear. "You’re such a disgrace! Haven’t you stirred up enough trouble? You embarrassed Zac in public, humiliated him in front of everyone, and I haven’t even dealt with you for that yet! And now you have the nerve to bring this up?" "Humiliated Zac? Embarrassed him in public?" Arthur scoffed. "Mr. John, are you really going to condemn me without even bothering to ask what actually happened?" His words hit a nerve. John instantly snapped, "Ask what? Zac is kind and innocent! Even if he did something wrong, it was only because you provoked him! Instead of looking at yourself, you ran around making a fool of this family!" Arthur let out a dry laugh. Favoritism really is the strongest force in the world. It doesn’t matter what the truth is. He’ll twist it however he wants. "If Mr. John thinks I’m such a disgrace, then sign the declaration of estrangement. Cut me off completely. From now on, I have no connection to the Gray family. That way, you won’t have to worry about me ruining your reputation ever again." The Gray family immediately stirred in protest. But before anyone else could react, Zac stepped forward at just the right moment. "Arthur, I know you don’t like me, but don’t leave. You’re Mom and Dad’s real son. If anyone should go, it should be me."
