Stronger Every Time I Die

Chapter 640 Poison in the Air

Wind personally pressed Finley forward, barking the order with irritation, “Lead the way!” Finley stumbled a bit. He wanted to resist, but the moment he saw the vicious expression on Wind’s face, he backed down. Arthur’s group followed Finley, making their way through twists and turns until they reached the innermost part of an abandoned factory building. Inside the factory, an acrid, overwhelming stench hit their noses. Arthur immediately scanned the surroundings. “This is a chemical leak!” Realizing this, Arthur panicked. Ashley clearly realized it too. She shouted at Finley, her voice sharp and urgent, “Speak! Where are they?!” The nauseating stench made even Finley nervous. When he’d first found this place, he’d noticed the same smell—but it hadn’t been nearly this intense. He looked toward a container in the distance that had burst open. “Could it be... that chemical tank exploded?” As soon as the words left Finley’s mouth, everyone panicked. Finley instinctively turned and bolted. Chemical leaks were no joke. Inhaling too much could kill someone! But there was no way Wind was letting him get away. Just as Finley lifted his leg, Wind moved with lightning speed, grabbing him by the collar. “Speak! Where are they?!” Wind’s grip was rough and forceful. Finley stumbled and slammed hard against the steps. His nose smashed directly against the edge. A cracking sound rang out.His nasal bone had snapped. A wave of blinding pain hit—Finley reached up instinctively. The lower half of his nose was crooked. It looked absolutely horrifying. But Wind didn’t care one bit. He dragged him up roughly and pushed him forward without hesitation. “Take us there!” Arthur’s group didn’t dare waste a second—they followed in quick pursuit. Finley didn’t dare act out again. His legs were still fine. He knew all too well—if he didn’t lead them to where Mr. Hugo and the others were being held, Arthur would never let him walk out of here. Revenge could wait ten years, but if he didn’t cooperate now, he might not live that long. He just wanted to get them to where the four were hidden and get out of this cursed place as fast as possible. The group followed Finley quickly up to the third floor, into the most remote room of the building. Through the window, Arthur saw it— In the corner of the room, Spencer, Nancy, Mr. Hugo, and Mr. Mateo were tied hand and foot, tossed carelessly into the corner like garbage! All four of them were lying on the ground, eyes closed, completely unconscious! Even the guards Finley had assigned to watch them had collapsed on the floor! Arthur’s heart lurched. Ashley screamed, her voice piercing, “Dad! Mom!” Everyone rushed inside at top speed. Arthur’s hands trembled as he reached toward their noses. His hand hovered above their nostrils for a long time before he finally felt the faintest trace of breath. But Nancy—Nancy had no breath at all! Arthur shouted the moment he realized, “Quick! Carry them out, now!!” There were plenty of bodyguards with them this time, all professionally trained. They immediately picked up each of the four and carried them on their backs, rushing toward the exit. Most likely, they had been poisoned by the leaked chemical substances! They piled into the cars and raced toward the hospital at the fastest possible speed. Inside the car, Ashley couldn’t hold back anymore. She collapsed into Arthur’s arms and broke into sobs. She had been the one to check Nancy’s breathing. Her hand had stayed at Nancy’s nose for a long, long time—but she hadn’t felt even the faintest sign of breath. She didn’t know what she’d do if something really happened to Nancy. Arthur’s heart was filled with guilt, but he could only choke out words of comfort. “They’ll be okay. They’ll definitely be okay.” Even as he said it, he didn’t believe it himself. He was panicking—completely panicking. If they never woke up, he would blame himself for the rest of his life. Compared to their lives and well-being, power and status meant absolutely nothing. If he had known that his departure would bring such a disaster upon them, Arthur would rather never have gone to Heaven Island. Arthur’s eyes were damp. That image—of them lying there, motionless—was burned into his memory. Arthur was truly, deeply afraid. He leaned into Ashley’s back, and his helpless tears finally spilled over. Finley was stunned. He had only wanted to kidnap the four of them to force Arthur’s location out. He’d never intended to actually harm them! He hadn’t even dared to abuse them! Among the four, especially Mr. Hugo and the principal—their statuses were far from ordinary. Even if Finley had a thousand times more courage, he would never dare to take their lives!
