Stronger Every Time I Die
"That's right! That Arthur kid kept lying, saying he lived in this courtyard! He was trying to fool us and get away with it!" "We all know that anyone new to the island who hasn't joined Heaven's Cult yet has to stay at the monitored hotel under armed supervision. We can't even leave without someone tailing us—how could he possibly be living here? This is blatant deception! So arrogant!" "He must think we're all idiots! Not only did he lie to us, he even tried to trick you when you showed up! Unforgivable!" "People like that should be skinned alive! Toss them into the mountains and feed them to the wolves!" The more they spoke, the more heated they got, like they were afraid Falls wouldn’t see the severity of Arthur’s crime and might let him off the hook. But Falls' gaze grew colder and colder as he looked at them. Suddenly, he cut through their shouting with a chilling voice. "I was the one who brought Mr. Arthur and Ms. Ashley here to stay. Are you questioning me?" His words hit like a hammer. The scene instantly fell into an eerie silence. Everyone—including Solivair—stared at him in a daze, struggling to comprehend what they'd just heard. "Wh-what?" someone blurted. Impatience flickered in Falls’ eyes. After handing something over to Arthur, he turned away without another word, clearly done with them. The others stood there murmuring to themselves. "No… no way. There’s no way that kid’s really staying in this courtyard." "We’re all stuck in the monitored hotel. He doesn’t have the power or status that we do—how could he get special treatment like this?" "No! That can’t be right. Even I didn’t get this kind of treatment—how could Arthur?" "What makes him so special? He’s just a powerless little brat. How could he be the one getting these perks?""He… he was telling the truth all along. He really does live here. And look at all the rare plants around this courtyard. Everyone says this is where the VIPs stay..." "A VIP? Him? He hasn’t even joined Heaven’s Cult yet and he’s got no influence or status. He’s a nobody! A lowborn! What gives him the right?!" They all shook their heads, stunned—Solivair included. They had mocked and humiliated Arthur just moments ago, confident that someone like him couldn’t possibly be given a privileged place like this. Even though this courtyard wasn’t large by their standards, this was Heaven Island. Even someone like Solivair—already accepted into Heaven’s Cult—was only given a standard house. And this place? It was overflowing with rare plants, a spot they’d overheard others say was reserved for honored guests. But Arthur and Ashley? What made them better? No power, no influence, no connections. So what did they have? A storm of emotions churned in Solivair’s heart. He, too, struggled to believe Falls’ words. But one thing was certain—Arthur’s life was spared. At the same time, his heart was filled with both dread and envy. He’d been part of Heaven’s Cult for so long, and all he’d gotten was a tiny room to live in. But Arthur—Arthur had only just arrived on the island. He wasn’t even part of Heaven’s Cult yet. So how did he get to live in a place like this? Worse yet, the others were right. Someone like Arthur, with no power or status, shouldn’t even be able to pass the Heaven’s Cult entry test. And yet he was staying somewhere better than any of them. Just then, Falls, a short distance away, paused and said flatly, "I’ll be reporting your behavior today to the Governor. It’ll be recorded in your assessments." With that, he walked off without looking back, leaving the group frozen in fear. They snapped out of it quickly, no longer caring about Arthur, and took off after him. "Mr. Falls! Wait—please, it’s not what it looked like!" They finally caught up to him—only for Falls to whirl around suddenly. His fierce gaze cut into them like a blade.Their feet stopped dead. Every excuse they were about to give died in their throats. That look in his eyes—it was terrifying. It made them freeze on the spot, unable to move a muscle. Falls scoffed coldly, unwilling to say another word. He turned around and walked off again without looking back. None of them dared to follow. They stood there, awkward and silent for a long time before someone finally mumbled: "It… it shouldn’t affect us too badly, right? The assessments focus more on personal power and status anyway." "Yeah. This little thing can’t possibly impact our results." "Right! Status is what really matters. Even if Mr. Falls reports us to Mr. Drake, it won’t make a difference."
