Stronger Every Time I Die

Chapter 557 Shadows in the Global Web

Ashley had heard of that organization too—from her father. But their understanding barely scratched the surface. All they knew was that it was far more dangerous than anything they could imagine. At the same time, it wielded an influence beyond human comprehension—able to achieve the impossible with ease. It was said their reach spanned the globe. In every powerful, economically advanced nation, they had a presence. Yet joining them? That was near-impossible. Only the elite among the elite from first-world countries—those who matched a mysterious set of criteria—were ever invited in. These people might be top industrial tycoons or political leaders at the highest level. No one knew when the organization had risen to power. Like shadows in the dark, they had quietly infiltrated every developed country. Hugo nodded gravely. He looked at Arthur, voice heavy with concern. “Arthur, this isn’t something to take lightly. I hope you really think it through. Don’t throw your life away over this.” The power behind Solivair—the group lurking in the background—was capable of shaping entire nations. At that level of influence, it was unthinkable to believe one could simply walk away. And the most dangerous part? Their unpredictability. No one could say whether they were good or evil. But their threat to global order was undeniable. Governments were wary of them and had tried to establish communication. But the organization had shut them out completely, refusing all negotiations. No one knew what their ultimate goal was. But Hugo knew this much—their fingerprints were all over global financial systems. Even military operations weren’t untouched by their influence. They straddled the line between right and wrong. Unfathomable. Unstoppable. Arthur sighed. “I understand, Professor,” he said softly. “But I don’t have any other choice.” Hugo had shown him materials about the organization before. Arthur wasn’t going in blind. But right now, he didn’t have the strength to build a safe haven—something strong enough to stand against Solivair. Eventually, Lynn would be found. She could shield him for now—but not forever. And Solivair’s patience was finite. Arthur had to find a way out for himself and those close to him. And this… this was it. Yes, the organization posed a threat. But Arthur had done his research. So far, there was no concrete evidence they’d committed atrocities. Arthur believed—hoped—that whoever sat at the top of it wasn’t a true villain. Of course, that was just a guess. He wouldn’t know for sure until he stepped into their world himself. Hugo didn’t speak for a long time. At last, he let out a deep breath and said nothing more. He just kept urging Arthur to be cautious—over and over again. He, too, had once dreamed of getting close to the organization. But he never had the chance. He’d never been able to reach them—and he had never been a match for Solivair. When the group returned to the university, they had barely stepped into Arthur’s dorm when a knock came at the door. Hugo hadn’t left yet. Outside were Mia and Sage, who had rushed back the moment they heard what happened. The moment they entered, they asked anxiously, “Arthur, what happened?”“Are you guys okay?” The two of them had been away on an academic exchange. When they heard about Arthur and Taylor being kidnapped again, they had taken the first flight back. Even though Hugo had told them on the phone that everyone was fine, they couldn’t relax until they saw it with their own eyes. Mia knew exactly what kind of lunatic Solivair was. And what she knew, Sage knew too. When Solivair kidnapped someone, it could mean brutal torture at best… death at worst. He’d done it before. There wasn’t a single decent person in the Tremo family. Just like what happened to Mia’s sister. If not for the Tremos, she would still be alive. Arthur, Ashley, and Taylor all shook their heads in unison. “Mia, we’re really fine,” Arthur said. Mia and Sage scanned the three of them from head to toe. Only after confirming there were no visible injuries did they finally relax. Then Mia turned to Ashley. “You must be Ashley, Arthur’s fiancée?” Her tone softened noticeably—friendly now that they were among their own. Arthur nodded, and when Ashley’s name came up, a smile unconsciously spread across his face.
