Stronger Every Time I Die

Chapter 547 Solivair Meet Your Match

Arthur couldn’t afford to show any signs of panic now. Talking to Solivair was a game of strategy; keeping his composure was the key. If he lost, all three of them would die here. After sitting down, Arthur spoke calmly. “Mr. Solivair, is it really worth risking your entire family—for a daughter?” His tone was light, almost conversational; anyone who didn’t know better might’ve thought he was just making small talk. Solivair stared at him in silence for a few seconds, then suddenly burst into laughter. He found Arthur genuinely interesting. No matter how bad things looked for him, Arthur always managed to stay calm and composed—even when facing off against someone like him. He didn’t lose an ounce of presence; whether it was real inner strength or just a solid poker face, Solivair couldn’t tell. But even if it was just an act, it was still impressive—well beyond what most people could manage. Leaning back comfortably in his chair, Solivair watched Arthur with curiosity. “You’re not worried about your own safety? Or your fiancee’s? Or your good friend’s? And yet, here you are, concerned about me first?” Arthur’s expression barely changed. “I’m just curious.” When dealing with someone like Solivair, all Arthur could do was act. As long as he played the part well enough, he could keep the upper hand. The moment he showed fear, he’d be at a disadvantage. Solivair’s smile slowly faded. He stared Arthur down and said, “You’re right. My daughter matters more than the Tremo family, more than all the Tremo family’s assets and lives combined.” His voice was soft and almost gentle, but Arthur could feel the overwhelming menace behind every word. He didn’t doubt for a second that Solivair meant what he said. For all his ruthlessness, Solivair did seem to value loyalty—but perhaps only when it came to Lynn.Arthur got straight to the point. He thought for a second, then said, “I’ve also been looking into your daughter’s whereabouts in secret lately. And I’ve found a few leads.” At the start of that sentence, Solivair’s eyes narrowed sharply, danger flashing within them. But by the time Arthur finished, a glimmer of hope flickered in Solivair’s gaze. After all his searching, he still hadn’t found Lynn—but he was certain she was alive. The problem was, it felt like she’d vanished into thin air. No matter how hard he looked, there hadn’t been a single trace. And now, Arthur was saying he had information about her. How could Solivair not be excited? He leapt from his chair, abandoning all pretense of control, and closed the distance between them in just a few steps. “Tell me now, where is Lynn?” Arthur found it laughable, watching him fall apart like that. He cared so deeply for his daughter, but when he was out there killing people, he never stopped to think that those people had parents and children of their own. Arthur remembered the way Solivair had killed Kent and Dean without even blinking. That wasn’t the first time, clearly. Once someone had no use to him, he just killed them. Right now, Arthur was only alive because he still had value—he had information about Lynn. But the moment he became useless, Arthur had no doubt Solivair would kill him without a second thought. And with his special methods, he’d make sure the police wouldn’t even find a body. Arthur had already seen that in action. His face remained calm as ever; he didn’t react to Solivair’s outburst at all. In a steady voice, he said, “Last time, I gave you a lead on Lynn, and you promised not to touch me or anyone close to me. And look at how that turned out.” He held his hands out slightly, motioning to his current situation. Solivair froze. Arthur had hit a nerve—and he knew it. Straightening up, Solivair pulled himself back into the role of the calculating mastermind. But his eyes darkened; there was a flicker of violence. “You don’t have to tell me anything. But if you don’t, I’ll start cutting off Ashley’s fingers—one by one—right in front of you.” He suddenly leaned in, inches from Arthur’s face. “Let’s see if you can stay quiet then.” Arthur’s heart jolted—but he managed a small smile. “Mr. Solivair, if I give you the information, will you let us go?” Solivair’s eyes stayed locked on Arthur’s, searching for the slightest sign of panic. He was waiting to see him break. But no matter how long he looked—even when he threatened to mutilate Ashley—Arthur’s expression never changed. Not even a flicker of fear.
