Stronger Every Time I Die
Even in modern times, such mindset persisted. But today, Arthur told her she could pursue her own dreams and goals. Whether married or not, she could still strive for her aspirations. And he was willing to let her go to support them! Only now did she understand that love meant allowing one to do what he or she loved. Ashley gazed deeply at Arthur. Blushing, she did something rare… She leaned in and pressed her lips to his. How had she been so lucky to meet someone like Arthur? Someone who respected her completely. Arthur was startled by her initiative but quickly responded, cupping the back of her head to deepen the kiss. Much later, they finally pulled apart breathlessly. Arthur wanted to take things further, but Ashley stopped him firmly. "You're still covered in wounds! Do you want them to tear open again?!" Her voice was a mix of concern and warning. Arthur froze, then pouted. "Then how much longer do I have to wait?" Ashley laughed at his childish expression. Who would've thought the usually composed Arthur could look so sulky? She took his hand and whispered softly in his ear, "When you're better… I'll do it…" Before she could finish, her face burned crimson. Arthur's eyes lit up instantly. He understood exactly what she meant. "Really??" he asked, unable to hide his excitement. Ashley had already buried her face in embarrassment. Regret hit her immediately. How could she have blurted that out? She'd never live this down! She stammered, avoiding his gaze. "N-no, I didn't… I didn't say anything…" Her voice was soft, but Arthur wasn't about to let her off the hook. He'd heard her loud and clear. He pulled her into a hug. "I heard you! No going back on your word!" Ashley's face turned even redder. She wished the ground would swallow her whole! Arthur looked down at her flushed cheeks as if inviting him to kiss it. His blood surged. The restraint he'd exercised in the hospital was crumbling. Back then, interruptions had been a constant worry. But now…In one swift motion, he flipped Ashley beneath him. She gasped, but before she could speak, Arthur kissed her. At this moment, his injuries were the last thing on his mind. All he wanted was to claim her completely. Ashley tried to push him away but feared hurting him. When she opened her mouth to protest, Arthur's tongue slipped in. Just as passion was about to consume them, a knock sounded at the door. Arthur froze. Ashley stiffened, panic flashing in her eyes as she tried to shove him away. He glanced toward the door–then ignored it, resuming what he was doing. Ashley's eyes widened. Someone is knocking! How could he just ignore it? She frantically signaled with her eyes, but their faces were too close for Arthur to see. Seeming to understand, Arthur pulled back just enough to mutter, "Don't worry about it. Let's continue."
