Stronger Every Time I Die
Arthur cast a sidelong glance at Ashley. That look seemed to say, "You're hardly any better." Ashley raised an eyebrow, shooting back a look of 'right back at you.' Neither of them said a word, but their silent exchange didn't escape notice, except by Taylor, who currently was entirely lost in the sea of praise being showered on him, floating higher and higher with every word. Despite his desire to maintain the calm, mysterious air of a master hacker, he could not stop grinning. Clenching a fist to his lips, he tried to hide his ever-expanding smile, but he failed. With a deliberate wave of his hand, he forced out an air of nonchalance. "Oh, it was nothing, really. Just a little trick of the trade. Minor hackers like them aren't even worth mentioning." Even Arthur could not help rolling his eyes at that. This person... honestly had a thicker skin than I did. Indeed, the timing of Taylor's tracking and surveillance program was impeccable. Arthur had been racking his brain over Solivair's intentions and wondering if Timothy's recent actions had any ties to him. And right then, Taylor had come bearing this timely gift. After the banter died down, Arthur immediately urged Taylor to open his laptop and shared his latest suspicions. Upon hearing the full story, Taylor's expression sobered, the playful grin vanishing from his face. Realizing the gravity of the situation, he got to work without delay. Following Arthur's line of investigation, Taylor's eyes suddenly lit up. "Look, is this what you're looking for?" Arthur's gaze remained locked onto the screen. And sure enough, after a silent, skillful sweep of the opposing network, Taylor had found exactly what Arthur wanted. It was a contract. A contract was signed between Solivair and Timothy. Arthur skimmed through it carefully. Heh… Calling this a contract was generous. It was more like a personal slave agreement for Timothy. "So it's true. Timothy really was Solivair's plant. A spy he stationed by my side." Arthur's eyes gleamed with an icy sharpness. His instincts had been right. But was Solivair planning to use Timothy to kill him? Arthur quickly dismissed that thought. Solivair was not that reckless. He knew full well. If Arthur died, the sensitive documents in his hands, linking Solivair to that mysterious organization backing him, would become completely unsecured. Without Arthur's existence acting as a counterbalance, Hugo wouldn't hesitate for a second to release that evidence. When that happened, the Tremo family would face total annihilation. No, Solivair was far too meticulous to take that kind of risk. Then why send Timothy to follow him into the forest in Mose City? Solivair was never one to act without purpose. Could it be that Timothy had taken the initiative, perhaps out of personal vengeance for Dean? Only very few knew the truth of Dean's death, that he was killed by Solivair himself. Given Timothy's close ties to Solivair, it was impossible he had been told the truth. Timothy must have believed that Dean's death was at Arthur's hands. Poor fool. Timothy had never realized that he'd been chasing the wrong enemy all along, even after death. But did Timothy really have the guts to request to follow Arthur into the forest in Mose City on his own? Arthur could not be certain. "Did you find anything else?" he asked Taylor. Taylor shook his head. "Solivair's very cautious. There's not much of real value in their network." Arthur nodded. Finding Timothy's contract was already an unexpected windfall. Someone like Solivair would never keep too many important things in one place. Even this document had only been uncovered after Taylor had carefully bypassed layer upon layer of security. Taylor combed through the opposing network once more, digging up scattered commercial data. Arthur silently committed it all to memory. Since Solivair had already struck at Cloudia Corporation and the Walker Group, instead of waiting passively for the next attack, it was time to go on the offensive. But Taylor's tracking program needed to remain hidden within the enemy network. If Solivair caught wind of it, all their efforts would go to waste. And any action Arthur took from now on, he had to tread carefully, ensuring nothing he did would betray the information he'd acquired. As he pondered, Taylor's phone suddenly rang. Taylor's eyes lit up. Glancing at the caller ID, his whole face broke into a grin. "Bro, our parents are here!" ...Huh? Arthur froze. "Our parents?" Taylor nodded enthusiastically. "Yeah! Our dad and mom!" Without another word, Taylor eagerly answered the call, shouting cheerfully into the receiver, "Dad! Mom!" Arthur and Ashley exchanged a glance. Hearing Taylor call out so naturally to the people on the other end of the line, the two quickly realized that it was Taylor's parents. And they had come all this way just to see them.
