Stronger Every Time I Die

Chapter 463 Charity?

Zane had warned Renee and Zac before that if they ever exposed him being Zac's father, he would kill them. Renee and Zac had no doubts that Zane would really do it. Even if Zac wanted to go down with everyone, he had to consider Renee's safety. They had no idea how far Zane's power extended, but if he really wanted to quietly kill the two of them, it wouldn't be difficult. Once they were dead, whatever lies Zane chose to fabricate, they wouldn't even be around to see them. Until Zac finally met Solivair. Zac had heard of the name Solivair. The power he held wasn't something Zane could even compare to. So, Zac chose to follow Solivair without hesitation. Solivair promised him that he could attend any university he wanted. Even more, he could live in the light again. That alone was already more than enough temptation for Zac. Faced with Solivair's offer, Zac had no room to refuse. News of John's death quickly spread across South City. After all, he had once been one of South City's most prominent and wealthy figures. Arthur had a mourning hall set up at the Gray Residence, and the people who came to pay respects practically wore down the doorstep. Among them, nearly 80 to 90 percent were only there because of Arthur. He was the chairman of Cloudia Corporation and a specially admitted student of Mr. Hugo at Governance University. Just these two titles alone made him a top figure in South City. Zac's scandal of running off with money had long been known all over South City. Not wanting to endure the judgmental stares of the public, and with Solivair calling him back, Zac left in a hurry. Raelynn and the others watched Zac's departing figure. They were filled with rage yet utterly powerless. They couldn't even protect themselves as they were still living under someone else's roof–what could they possibly use to go up against Zac? In the blink of an eye, several days passed, and John was already buried. In the living room, Raelynn and the three sisters sat on the luxurious sofa, still unable to recover from the grief of John's passing. Arthur was getting ready to head back to Governance University. He glanced at them, hesitated for a moment, then finally said, "If you want to stay in this house, you can."After saying that, Arthur didn't look at them again and walked out the door with Ashley. This house had always been empty. After Arthur bought it, he never intended to live in it, nor did he plan to sell it. No one in the Yarbrough family could be trusted. Stephen getting close to Julie was definitely not sincere. Arthur didn't want to watch Julie walk into a trap with his own eyes. Now that John was gone, staying in South City, having a place to live, and then going out to find a job was still better than living off others. This was the most Arthur could do. As for what they chose next, that was their business. When Arthur finished speaking, everyone in the living room froze. Watching Arthur's back as he left, Susie suddenly screamed, "Who needs his charity? What kind of attitude is that?" Susie remembered clearly how Arthur almost caused her to lose her ability to have children. Back in Seacity, they had pleaded with him so desperately, but he wouldn't even let them in the door. He did not even show his face. After pushing us to that point, now he thinks he can make up for it just by offering us a place to stay? What a joke. She wouldn't forgive him, not even in death. Though staying at the Yarbrough family home wasn't exactly ideal, it was the Yarbrough family that took them in at their lowest. At the time, doctors had declared she might never have children again, then suddenly a renowned specialist showed up to treat her. Thinking back, that must have been someone the Yarbrough family found for her. The Yarbrough family's kindness… Susie always remembered it in her heart. Julie's expression was complicated. She frowned and said unhappily, "Enough, say no more." Arthur's willingness to let them stay was something Julie hadn't expected. But, just as Susie thought, Arthur had turned them away again and again, forcing them onto the streets. It was the Yarbrough family who had stepped in to take them back. More importantly, her feelings for Stephen were no longer something that could be cut off so easily. Stephen had never clearly stated his intentions, but Julie knew deep down, Stephen had feelings for her. If she stayed in South City, her relationship with Stephen would probably drift further and further apart. Julie didn't want to see that happen. Even if living at the Yarbrough Residence wasn't exactly pleasant, between the two, Julie was even more unwilling to give up that relationship.
