Stronger Every Time I Die
He was so envious of Zac. Now he was remorseful; he realized he was wrong, but Arthur hadn't even gotten the chance to feel a father's warmth. How could he just… John's sudden collapse sent a wave of gasps through the crowd. Hugo quickly called an ambulance, and Ryder dialed 911. Solivair stared at the lifeless John in disbelief. He couldn't believe it. In broad daylight, in front of everyone, how could he just die? Zac stood frozen in place; the hatred in his eyes hadn't even had time to fade. His outstretched hand remained in mid-air. The moment John collapsed, Zac instinctively reached out to catch him. But in the end, it was his hatred that made him a step too late. How could this be? John, that incredibly strong man, the one who always stood before me like a mountain… How could he fall? Zac couldn't believe what he was seeing. Just moments ago, he had been hating John; hating him for siding with Arthur despite Zac's repeated warnings, for trying to redeem Arthur. Zac hated him for no longer protecting him unconditionally, for no longer standing by his side. Unconsciously, Zac had long considered John his father. Deep down, John was someone who belonged only to him. All of John's fatherly love and warmth should have been his. Back then, when he left South City with Renee, it wasn't his choice. But for the sake of his biological mother, he had to give up John. When they met again, it was Solivair who had found him. Earlier that day, the wandering John had overheard someone asking about him. Instinctively, he felt something was wrong and hid. From their conversation, John learned it was Solivair who was looking for him. And Solivair's reason for finding him was to use him to frame Arthur and to make Arthur hated by all! Solivair's name was familiar to John. He never imagined Arthur would get involved with someone like Solivair. John's first instinct was to hide. He couldn't let Solivair find him. He couldn't let himself become the reason Arthur was publicly condemned. He had already let Arthur down too much. With a weak and exhausted body, John managed to hide for most of the day. Solivair had no choice. As the banquet was nearing its end, he turned to Zac. Zac heard the terms Solivair offered and agreed without hesitation. Solivair was right. As soon as Zac made his move and played the victim, John couldn't help but make a sound. But after revealing himself, John sadly realized that Zac had teamed up with Solivair to deceive him. His last bit of hope in Zac vanished. When Zac learned that John had hidden himself for Arthur's sake, he could no longer contain his anger and struck John. During his time wandering and begging, John had already sustained multiple injuries. Combined with the long-term hunger, John was already at his limit. Zac had no idea what condition John was in because to him, John was always that indestructible man. Even as John begged for mercy, Zac showed no mercy. He poured all his bottled-up rage onto John. Even though Zac knew everything he'd suffered in Seacity had nothing to do with John. In fact, for the past ten years, it was John, a man with no blood relation to him, who had given him endless fatherly love and warmth. Without John, he would have had to endure all this pain at the age of eight. It was John who gave him such a good childhood. In the end, he even swindled John out of all his assets. But at that time, Zac was blinded by hatred, which only made John's condition worse. He was so injured that he could barely walk and had to lean on Zac to get inside. Half of the blood John coughed up just now was because of Zac. No. Zac shook his head in disbelief. He's indestructible. He'll be fine. He's just weak and passed out. As long as he gets to the hospital and receives treatment, he'll be okay! Zac tried to reassure himself. The ambulance arrived quickly. John was taken away, and Arthur, as the accompanying person, went with him. Arthur held onto a sliver of hope. Hopefully, John still had a chance to be saved. As for what came next, Arthur had no idea. Solivair and Zac, the ones responsible for bringing John to the scene, were taken away by the police who had arrived swiftly. It was the first time Solivair had ever been arrested. For so many years, he had handled things flawlessly. Who would've thought a misstep would happen now because of John?
