Stronger Every Time I Die

Chapter 446 A New Rule is Set

Ryder continued, “Alright, this has gone on long enough. We’re wasting time over something so trivial. These young ones are already here—what, are we supposed to kick them all out now? Having them around just makes things livelier.” His words immediately won over the crowd. It was exactly what they had been thinking. If all the younger attendees were suddenly forced out, even if they weren’t personally singled out, it would still be a humiliation. Solivair had just managed to offend a significant portion of the guests. But, of course, the Tremo family was too powerful for most to openly challenge him. Ryder pressed on, “I say we make it official—this outdated rule should be abolished. Instead, why don’t we establish a new one? Each attendee may bring one younger generation member to the banquet. They can rotate who they bring each time, ensuring competition and motivation within the family. What do you all think?” He didn’t even glance at Solivair. Hugo immediately agreed. “I fully support it! This will encourage ambition among our younger generations and ultimately strengthen our families.” Among Evergrand City’s five elite families, only three had representatives at today’s banquet—Tremo, Summer, and Lovaris. Of the three, the Tremo family undoubtedly had the most financial power. The heads of the other two elite families were absent, and since their successors weren’t bold enough to attend without a family elder present, they had stayed away. If this rule were abolished, future banquets would be far more vibrant, and the younger generation would have greater opportunities. With Hugo and Ryder both supporting the change, the other attendees stopped hesitating. And since this was something that directly affected their own interests, their enthusiasm surged. The crowd erupted in agreement. In an instant, the hall was filled with resounding support. Solivair’s face darkened further. His sharp gaze swept over the crowd, making many instinctively shrink back. But with Ryder and Hugo leading the charge, and the sheer number of voices rising against him, no one backed down. Ryder raised his hand. “Since we have an overwhelming consensus, then it’s settled.” Just like that, the decision was made. Without even consulting Solivair. His expression turned even more dangerous. These fools… they were getting bolder, acting as if he was irrelevant! He wanted to oppose them—wanted to rip this entire farce apart. But with the entire banquet hall siding against him, fighting back would only make him look petty. There was no point. Ryder’s announcement settled the matter. The atmosphere in the hall instantly lightened, laughter and conversation filling the space once more. This decision benefitted them, so of course, they were happy. Solivair, on the other hand, found their joy infuriating. He was being openly defied. These idiots actually dared to go against him. They must have forgotten who he was. Let them have their fun. One day, he would stand at the pinnacle of Lioran. And when that day came, he’d make sure every single one of them regretted this. Hugo, clearly enjoying himself, grinned even wider. His admiration for Arthur deepened. With just a few words, he dismantled Solivair’s entire setup. Truly, he had chosen well.Hugo raised his voice. “Alright then, let’s continue the banquet!” With that, the hall came alive once more. The younger attendees, no longer uncertain about their place here, began to mingle more freely. With their presence officially sanctioned, their enthusiasm soared. The banquet was now more vibrant than ever. And all the while, Solivair stood there, watching the scene unfold with a face like thunder. He had tried to use an outdated rule against Arthur. Instead, Arthur had turned it around, leading to the rule’s permanent removal. And to make it worse—everyone else had supported it. Solivair had played his own hand and lost spectacularly. He had become the biggest joke of the night. He was so furious he could have drawn his gun on the spot. It took several deep breaths to suppress the rage boiling inside him. At one point, he even considered storming out of the banquet. But then he realized—if he left now, wouldn’t that be as good as admitting defeat? If he walked out, the guests would have a field day mocking him behind his back. No. He clenched his fists so tightly his knuckles turned white. He forced himself to calm down. Then, finally, he managed to pull together a smile. “I agree,” he said, voice smooth despite his barely contained fury. “This rule was overdue for a change. We should give the younger generation more opportunities to learn.”
