Stronger Every Time I Die
Arthur couldn’t help but admire Henry’s ability to be completely oblivious. With intelligence like that, he had no idea why Finley had chosen Henry as his so-called first and most capable assistant. Didn’t he feel embarrassed? How Henry had even managed to get into Governance University in the first place was a mystery. His academic performance was always at the bottom of the rankings. If it weren’t for Finley’s influence, he probably would have been expelled long ago. Finley’s face was a mess of shifting emotions, changing colors like a malfunctioning traffic light. At this point, he didn’t even have the words to express his frustration. He had never intended to cross paths with Arthur again. And Arthur’s fiancée? He especially wanted nothing to do with her. But now, thanks to sheer dumb luck, he had ended up making a complete fool of himself—in front of everyone. And it was all because of Henry. Finley shot him a murderous glare. If Henry hadn’t stuck his nose where it didn’t belong and messed with Ashley, none of this would have happened. Completely useless. It took a moment before Finley finally forced a strained smile. "Oh… so she’s your fiancée, Ashley?" Arthur and Ashley nodded in unison. "That’s right." The casual confirmation nearly made Finley black out from rage. He understood now. Arthur and Ashley had done this on purpose. They had sat back and let him embarrass himself.Ashley had claimed she wanted to see him, but it had never been about that. They had been setting him up the whole time. The crowd’s gazes shifted, their expressions ranging from awkward to outright amused. Finley had never felt so humiliated. His fingers curled into fists, his entire body tensed with frustration. He had spent all this time trying to avoid Arthur after the warehouse incident. Arthur’s voice from that night—so cold, so terrifying—was still burned into his memory. He had sworn to stay away. But after what had happened today, his resolve wavered. He couldn’t let this go. He wasn’t willing to just back down. Arthur had completely humiliated him—him, Finley Tremo, a son of high society. And Ashley? She had made a fool out of him just as much. He couldn’t let them get away with this. The early morning sunlight filtered through the window, casting a warm glow across the room. Arthur opened his eyes, immediately greeted by Ashley’s peaceful, sleeping face. Waking up next to Ashley in his dorm, holding her in his arms, was nothing short of bliss. Ashley shifted slightly, her long lashes fluttering as she groggily opened her eyes. "Arthur? You’re awake?" Her voice was soft and husky from sleep. Arthur nodded. "Yeah, I just woke up." He couldn’t resist leaning down and placing a gentle kiss on her forehead. "Did you sleep well?" Ashley smiled sleepily. "Very comfortable."Arthur glanced at the time. "We should get up. You have a seminar today." Instead of responding, Ashley burrowed deeper into his arms, nuzzling against his chest. "I don’t want to get up yet." Her small frame curled up against him, her head resting against his chest. Arthur looked down at her, her flushed cheeks and drowsy expression making his heart feel warm. "Ashley, you’re way too cute." Ashley’s face warmed at the unexpected compliment, her pink cheeks turning an even deeper shade of red. Seeing her like this only made her look more adorable. The two of them stayed tangled up together for a little longer before finally forcing themselves out of bed. Today, Arthur was attending a high-society banquet in Evergrand City with Mr. Hugo—his first official step into the elite social circles. After washing up and finishing breakfast together, Ashley picked up her books and leaned in, pressing a quick kiss to Arthur’s forehead. "I’m heading out now." Arthur frowned slightly, clearly reluctant. "If anything happens, call me immediately. Don’t try to handle it alone, got it?" Last night’s incident was still fresh in his mind. Ashley had just gone to get food and ended up being harassed by Henry. Arthur knew she had learned some self-defense over the past two years, but if she ever had to deal with a group of men, things could get dangerous. Fortunately, today’s banquet was during the day, and he expected to return by evening. Ashley would be at her seminar, surrounded by people. That was at least somewhat reassuring. Still, just to be sure, Arthur pulled out his phone and made a call to Taylor. Taylor would also be attending the seminar. Arthur, because of the banquet, wouldn’t be able to be there. But with Taylor around, at least he’d feel a little more at ease.
