Stronger Every Time I Die
Arthur was now the student council president, and after what had happened at the welcome gala, his status at Governance University had completely changed. Plenty of girls had already secretly set their sights on him. But Arthur ignored the whispers around him and headed straight for Ashley. When he got back to his dorm and didn’t see her, he panicked. She hadn’t replied to his messages, hadn’t answered his calls. That alone was enough to make him uneasy. Guessing she might have gone to eat, he had rushed to the cafeteria—only to find it packed with people. The cafeteria was never this crowded at this hour. A bad feeling settled in his gut. As he approached, he heard people discussing a beautiful girl in casual clothes. The crowd instinctively parted, and the moment Arthur saw Ashley, he strode directly toward her. Ashley’s eyes lit up with surprise and delight. "Arthur!" Her voice wasn’t loud, barely audible over the noise, but Arthur heard it clearly. The second Finley saw Arthur, something flickered in his gaze. Arthur. Why was he here? Did he hear that there was a beautiful girl in the cafeteria, and now he wanted to steal the spotlight from him? The thought alone irritated Finley. But then his mind flashed back to the warehouse incident—the way Arthur’s voice had sounded like it had come straight from hell. A shudder ran down Finley’s spine. For the first time, he hesitated. He had planned to pretend he didn’t see Arthur and let things slide, but—"Arthur! Don’t you know what first come, first served means!" Henry suddenly shouted, stepping in front of Ashley with an indignant expression. Arthur, Ashley, and Finley all stared at him in silence. Finley rubbed his temple. "You really don’t have to try this hard." Henry had just been scolded by Finley earlier, and now he saw the perfect opportunity to redeem himself. He could tell Finley was at least somewhat interested in this girl. Arthur was just as good-looking as Finley. Unlike Finley’s refined, gentlemanly aura, Arthur had a strong, masculine presence that many girls found just as—if not more—attractive. If Arthur had as much money as Finley, Henry wouldn’t be surprised if he actually became more popular. Of course, he would never say that out loud. As a devoted follower, he had to believe that Finley was the best, the most charming, the most superior man alive. After all, keeping Finley’s ego satisfied was part of his job. But unlike Henry, the rest of the people in the room—Arthur, Ashley, and even Finley himself—had no illusions about the situation. Henry didn’t understand Finley’s current mindset at all. After all, Henry hadn’t been involved in the warehouse incident. He didn’t know how much Finley now dreaded Arthur. But since Henry had already spoken up, Finley had no choice but to go along with it. Glancing at the surrounding crowd, he knew he couldn’t afford to back down in public. Arthur was now blocked by Henry, and Finley quickly composed himself, putting on his signature warm and refined demeanor. With an air of righteous concern, he said, "Arthur, I recall that you already have a fiancée. Isn’t it improper for you to be showing interest in another girl?" The moment those words left his mouth, the crowd erupted into discussion.Or rather, condemnation. Especially the girls who supported Finley. They had never liked Arthur for stealing the student council president position from him. Now, they finally had an excuse to criticize him. "He has a fiancée and he’s still chasing after other girls?" "What a terrible person!" "His poor fiancée. She must have such bad luck to be stuck with a cheating scumbag like him." "A classic rich playboy! Just because he has money, he thinks he can do whatever he wants?" "And this guy had the audacity to compete with Mr. Tremo for student council president? I’m strongly against him being president!" "Exactly! Someone with this kind of character doesn’t deserve to be our leader!" Ashley and Arthur exchanged looks as they listened to the accusations flying around them. Neither of them knew whether to laugh or sigh. They were both completely speechless. Meanwhile, Finley finally felt a little relieved. With so many people siding with him and attacking Arthur, at least he wasn’t standing alone in this for now.
