Stronger Every Time I Die
Hearing that name, Ashley fell silent, simply listening. Finley. Maybe he could be a way in. Ashley knew Arthur and Mr. Hugo were planning their counterattack against Solivair. If she could help in any way, Arthur’s burden would be a little lighter. Henry, however, completely misread her reaction. He assumed she was scared. After all, Finley was the heir of one of Evergrand City’s most powerful families—the Tremo family. Who wouldn’t be afraid? The smugness on Henry’s face only grew. Ashley suddenly asked, "Where is Finley?" "How dare you speak Mr. Tremo’s name so casually?" One of Henry’s lackeys immediately snapped at her, his face full of righteous fury. How could a nobody like her be allowed to disrespect Mr. Tremo? Henry waved a hand, signaling for him to back down. He looked at Ashley with amusement. "You want to see Mr. Tremo?" Ashley didn’t hesitate. She nodded. The surrounding students were instantly disappointed. They had thought this girl was different from the others. But in the end, she was just another gold digger. The moment she heard Finley’s name, she was practically throwing herself at him. At Governance University, countless girls fawned over Finley. Because of him, many male students had trouble finding girlfriends. Finley was not only handsome and refined but also rich and powerful—the perfect Prince Charming. Before Arthur arrived, Finley had a monopoly on the attention of the female students. After Arthur showed up, with his striking looks and status as both the chairman of Cloudia Corporation and Mr. Hugo’s protégé, he had also won many admirers. But since Finley and Arthur clearly disliked each other—especially after their confrontation at the freshman gala—most girls avoided openly showing interest in Arthur. Still, the male students all knew the truth. They had thought their school had finally found a new goddess. But it turned out, she was just another one of Finley’s admirers. Henry’s smugness was almost radiating off of him. He didn’t have to say it, but his expression was clear: See? She was acting all cold earlier, but the moment she heard Mr. Tremo’s name, she was practically begging to meet him. The female students in the cafeteria were even more upset. Many had already been jealous of Ashley’s looks and figure. And now? Now she wanted to see Finley? That was the last straw. "You really think someone like you can get close to Mr. Tremo?" "Exactly! Look at what she’s wearing—she probably crawled out of some slum." "And she has a meal card? She must have stolen it just to get free food here!" "Mr. Tremo isn’t someone any random girl can meet." "Even I wouldn’t dare ask to see Mr. Tremo. Who does she think she is?" "Just because she’s a little pretty, she thinks she can seduce him?" … Jealousy twisted their faces. Ashley was honestly surprised. All she did was ask a simple question, and suddenly she was surrounded by hostility. When did she ever say she wanted to see Finley because she admired him? Finley? He wasn’t even worth comparing to Arthur. Ashley couldn’t understand what was so impressive about him. Did character mean nothing compared to wealth and looks? Besides, even in terms of looks, Finley wasn’t necessarily better than Arthur. Still, for the sake of her plan, she stayed silent. It was clear she wouldn’t get any useful information about Finley here. She would have to find another opportunity later. She turned to leave, but Henry and his gang weren’t about to let her go so easily. Henry stood there like some self-proclaimed king, looking down at Ashley with disdain. "You were disrespectful to me earlier," he sneered. "You need to apologize." He spoke as if it was an order, certain she would obey. She admired Mr. Tremo, didn’t she? And he was Mr. Tremo’s most trusted man. Of course she would try to stay on his good side. Henry was confident that even if he asked for something more outrageous, Ashley would agree without hesitation. After all, she needed him to put in a good word for her. If he badmouthed her to Finley, she could forget about ever getting his favor. Henry had seen plenty of girls like her before. And he had taken advantage of them many times. This was one of the reasons why he was able to act so arrogantly at Governance University.
