Chapter 385 Arthur Has a Soft Spot

Finley wasn’t much better than the head of the Tremo family. Just moments ago, they had watched as Finley’s face turned purple from Arthur’s grip. They had been ready to speak up and tell Arthur the way out. But right at that moment, Arthur loosened his hold a little. Seeing Finley gasping for air again, they swallowed their words and stayed silent. Arthur was not someone they could afford to offend. If they let him go so easily, Finley would be in serious trouble. Arthur had Hugo backing him up, not to mention the Lovaris family. Even though Arthur and the Lovaris family weren’t directly connected, everyone had seen how they acted toward him at the welcome banquet last night. What mattered most was that Finley and the Lovaris family were far from on good terms. Finley kept cursing for a while, but Arthur quickly lost patience, tightening his grip once again. "Enough! Stop wasting time. Just tell me where the exit is." As Arthur's hand tightened around his throat, that familiar suffocating sensation returned. Finley tensed, his body shaking instinctively from fear. He immediately gasped out, "Arthur, murder is illegal! You’ll have to pay for it with your life. And don’t forget, I’m the heir of the Tremo family. You better think this through." Arthur let out a cold chuckle. "I have nothing to lose. A man with nothing to his name isn’t afraid of consequences. You had the guts to kidnap me—do you really think I’d be scared of a little blood on my hands?" There was a dangerous chill in his voice, and for the first time, Finley actually felt intimidated. Desperate, he blurted out, "Who said you're alone? Have you already forgotten about your fiancée?" Arthur's hand twitched the moment he heard fiancée. Ashley—she was the one thing that could still shake him. Finley immediately caught Arthur’s subtle reaction, and a small smirk played on his lips. Once someone had a weakness, they became easy to manipulate. He pressed on, "I heard your fiancée, Ashley, is quite the beauty. Are you really going to let her suffer all alone in this world?" He deliberately stressed the word suffer, drawing out the syllables. Arthur’s fingers clenched tighter around his throat. Finley’s lungs screamed for air, barely able to take in even a sliver of oxygen. Arthur leaned in so close Finley could feel his breath, icy and sharp. "Finley, if you so much as touch a single hair on her head, I will make sure your entire Tremo family is erased from existence." Arthur’s voice was calm, controlled, but in Finley’s ears, it was more terrifying than a death sentence. It was the kind of voice that came straight from the depths of an icy abyss, like a demon whispering its final warning. A cold sweat broke out on Finley’s back as a chilling realization set in—Arthur wasn’t bluffing. Fear crept into his heart. He instantly shut up, too afraid to push any further. Besides, at this point, the crushing pressure on his throat made it impossible to say another word. Arthur’s voice was even colder this time as he snapped, "Talk! Where’s the exit?" His tone grew harsher with every word, but this time, Finley wasn’t in a rush to answer. He knew very clearly in his heart. Arthur wouldn’t kill him. Because Arthur had a weakness. From the moment Arthur stepped into Governance University and started butting heads with him, Finley had ordered a full investigation into every aspect of his life. Enemies were often the ones who knew you best. Finley had dug up everything—from Arthur’s background and family to his conflicts with Zac, his first encounter with Ashley, and their eventual engagement. And after testing Arthur just now, Finley was certain. Arthur did care about Ashley. His body’s instinctive reactions gave him away.To him, Ashley was something to be protected at all costs. That was why Finley was sure—Arthur wouldn’t dare kill him. If he did, the Tremo family would hunt him down along with his fiancée’s entire family. And Finley knew Arthur was well aware of that fact too. Finley wasn’t in a rush anymore. No matter how much endurance someone had, it would eventually run out. He refused to believe that Arthur could outlast him when he had so many people on his side. Closing his eyes, he let the suffocating pressure wash over him. It wasn’t as terrifying as before. His face slowly turned purple as the bodyguards exchanged uncertain looks. Finley had just finished cursing them out, but moments ago, he had the perfect chance to tell Arthur where the exit was. And yet, he had chosen to stay silent. Now, with Arthur’s grip cutting off his air, he still wasn’t resisting. The bodyguards hesitated, unsure of what to do next. The leader tentatively spoke. "Mr. Finley—" Before he could finish, Finley raised his hand ever so slightly, signaling him to stop. Arthur had been watching the group closely. He hadn’t seen Finley’s subtle movement, but the way the man abruptly fell silent told him everything. Finley had given him a signal
