Stronger Every Time I Die
Mateo paused before continuing, "I wonder, are you interested in taking on the role of student council president?" At these words, the entire room erupted! "Is Mr. Mateo mistaken? He’s just a freshman who just started this year!" "Can a freshman really be the student council president? Isn’t that extraordinary?" "Arthur hasn’t made any contributions to Governance University yet, how can he be the student council president?" "Is it just because he has good grades? Good grades don’t tell the whole story!" "By replacing Finley and putting Arthur in his place, isn’t this a direct slap in Finley’s face?" "Is the president really disregarding the Tremo family? For Finley, this is a tremendous humiliation!" "Some think it's impressive, as the president said, that Arthur managed to outfit himself with cameras all over his body beforehand; it was a smart move." "Yes! Arthur isn’t just academically gifted, he’s the one who started Cloudia Corporation at sixteen! Though Cloudia Corporation isn’t top-ranked in Evergrand City yet, given its trajectory, it might well break into the top ten in the future!" Despite the uncontrollable excitement, the crowd’s chatter was kept as quiet as possible. When Finley heard Mateo’s words, his already dark eyes flashed with a stormy ferocity! His fists were clenched so tightly that his nails had broken the skin, and now, squeezing again, blood trickled down from his clenched fists. Yet he showed no sign of loosening his grip, a testament to the depth of his hatred. Mateo! After all his contributions to the school, not only did he not appreciate him, but he also stripped him of his student council president position, and now he was even letting Arthur, a freshman, take over! Wasn’t this a blatant slap in his face? Although he had now cleared himself of framing Arthur, Mateo’s actions clearly showed that he didn’t trust him! Arthur is cunning and full of justice? Is that to say I am foolish and unjust? Finley's face was as dark as the bottom of a pot, nearly dripping with gloom. Gritting his teeth, his voice nearly burst through his clenched teeth, "Mr. Mateo, this seems quite inappropriate!"Finley emphasized each word heavily! If it weren’t for the crowd watching, he might have lost control and yelled at Mateo. When he used to donate money, Mateo was all smiles. Now, he had turned his back on him! Hearing Finley's protest, Mateo’s expression tightened. He turned to Finley, his face showing little emotion, "Finley, you're graduating in two years; it's time to focus more on your studies." With an implied meaning, he added, "You should think less about extraneous things and focus on your studies; that’s what’s most important." Hearing this, Finley’s face grew even darker! He had just started his junior year—two years from graduation! And his academic performance had always been top-notch; when had the student council ever interfered with his studies? Extraneous things? Is he insinuating something? Mateo paused before continuing, "Of course, the school remembers your donations. Your name is recorded in the ledger along with other contributors. We won’t forget anyone who has contributed to the school." Governance University was one of the top institutions in Lioran, attended by many wealthy students. Many had donated to the school, which was part of why Governance University had grown so significantly. Mateo never denied the money Finley had donated. But that didn’t mean he could do whatever he wanted at Governance University! Governance University’s primary focus was on cultivating character. Its graduates, whether lawyers or civil servants, needed to have impeccable integrity; how could he be comfortable letting them graduate otherwise? After Mateo finished speaking, his piercing gaze swept over the many freshmen below. They had been enjoying the spectacle until Mateo’s commanding presence caught them off guard. His intimidating look, honed over decades as a headmaster, made them shiver involuntarily. They instinctively lowered their heads, not daring to meet his gaze. Mateo slowly began to speak. "You all worked hard to enter Governance University, and I had thought you were different from ordinary people." His voice suddenly sharpened, "But your behavior just now was a great disappointment!"
