Stronger Every Time I Die
It was the first time he had ever worn such fine clothing, and Taylor was visibly excited. After changing, he stood in front of Arthur, who couldn’t help but be impressed. Arthur sincerely praised, “You look great in this!” “Heh.” Taylor grinned sheepishly, unable to stop admiring himself in the mirror. That evening, the university hosted its annual Freshman Gala, a grand event welcoming the new students. As a freshman himself, Arthur had to attend. The hall was filled with students dressed in their finest, mingling in small groups and engaging in conversation. However, this year, the topic of discussion was slightly different. News about Arthur and Taylor had already spread across campus, fuelled by those with ulterior motives. Now, nearly everyone at the university had heard about it. Inevitably, the discussions at the gala revolved around them. Governance University was one of the most prestigious institutions in Evergrand City, and the freshman gala was always a spectacular affair. The entire event felt more like an elite social gathering. Arthur and Taylor found a table and sat down, chatting idly while enjoying the desserts. The snacks were impressively made, Mateo certainly knew how to hire a good chef. Though many students whispered among themselves, most refrained from approaching because Arthur and Taylor were Hugo students. However, there were always those who weren’t afraid of stirring trouble. From the moment Arthur and Taylor entered the venue, a few individuals had been watching them closely. Seeing that neither Arthur nor Taylor was affected by the murmurs, a few of them grew irritated, as if their punches had landed on soft cotton. A quiet rage burned in their heart. Among them was Finley, accompanied by his loyal followers. Finley exchanged a subtle glance with Kent. Kent immediately understood. He had been waiting for Finley’s signal all evening! Stealthily, he moved toward Arthur. Between Arthur and Taylor, their hatred naturally burned stronger toward Arthur! It was Arthur who had beaten them up last time. And just a few days ago, Arthur had ruined their plans again! Making them lose face completely! As Kent approached Arthur from behind, he suddenly stumbled, as if he had tripped on something. With a loud gasp, Kent lurched forward, and Arthur instinctively reached out to steady him. The moment Arthur caught him, Kent turned to him with an eerie smirk. Seeing Kent’s face, Arthur immediately let go! “Thud!” Kent crashed hard onto the floor. He hadn’t expected Arthur to release him so abruptly. Caught off guard, he landed face-first, an embarrassing sight. “Arthur!” Kent growled through gritted teeth. He instinctively wanted to get up and retaliate. But then, as if realizing something, he stopped himself. His lips curled into a faint smile, and he suddenly put on an apologetic expression. “I’m so sorry, I tripped just now. Did I bump into you?” Taylor, having noticed the commotion, immediately got up and stood beside Arthur. Seeing Kent’s act, Taylor loudly called him out, “Kent! What are you trying to do now! Looking for trouble again!” Taylor’s voice rang through the venue, instantly drawing everyone’s attention. Kent clenched his fists. With so many people watching, this wasn’t ideal for his plan. Why was Taylor’s voice so damn loud! Not far away, Finley also tightened his grip. He had instructed Kent to approach Arthur quietly and look for an opportunity to strike. Yet Taylor had completely ruined it! Forcing a smile, Kent waved his hands. “No, no, I really just tripped. Don’t get the wrong idea.” “Tripped?” Taylor scoffed, clearly not buying it. He accused bluntly, “Then why did you come all the way over here in the first place? And why did you pretend to trip? A few days ago, you and your group insulted us in the cafeteria and even tried to beat us up! If Arthur hadn’t reacted quickly, you guys would have succeeded in your attack. And now, what are you planning?” The new students who overheard this immediately erupted in whispers. “That guy, Kent isn’t he one of Finley’s top cronies? Why would someone like him bully fellow students?” “Isn’t that just straight up harassment? I thought a school like Governance University wouldn’t have that kind of problem.” “But Finley is known for being such a kind and generous student leader. How could he have someone like that as his right-hand man?” “Maybe this is all a misunderstanding?” “There was even an official disciplinary notice from the school. I remember being shocked when I saw it.” “At first, I thought there was something shady about Arthur and Taylor’s involvement in that incident, but now…I’m not so sure.”“What do you mean! Finley is a good guy! What are you implying?” The word harassment carried heavy weight within the school. The moment it was mentioned, people became wary. As the murmurs spread, some students began questioning Finley’s reputation, and these doubts naturally reached Kent’s ears.
