Stronger Every Time I Die

Chapter 345

Arthur continued, "I never thought that we'd come here happily to pull weeds and end up being accused of ogling girls. If that's the case, can we even continue to act with such enthusiasm in the future? Who knows, we might even be accused of doing something worse next time?" Everest's face turned from pale to red with frustration! Finley clenched his fists tightly. Arthur was proving to be infuriatingly adept at arguing! He had seen them ogling the new girls as they entered, and Taylor had even quietly discussed with Arthur which girl looked good! However, this path had no cameras, which made it seem like he was judging their character unfairly! Even Taylor was stunned by Arthur's maneuver. That unassuming yet assertive demeanor had Taylor almost questioning if they really had been watching the girls at all! In his memory, Arthur was always honest, preferring to bury himself in his books. The last time he had intervened was only because Kent and his group had started trouble right in front of him. But today, he realized that Arthur wasn't as straightforward as he thought. Arthur's ability to spin tales was both impressive and awe-inspiring to Taylor! Arthur’s calm and confident demeanor successfully shifted the crowd's perception again. Some voices began to emerge from the crowd. "Looking into their eyes, they don’t really seem like the creepy type." "That tall one hasn’t even looked at us once. Being as handsome as he is, he probably wouldn’t bother with us." "He actually said we aren’t good-looking! Could it be that he’s used to ogling pretty girls and that’s why he says that?" "But he’s handsome enough on his own, so it’s normal for him to have high standards, right?" "They really don’t look like they were ogling us. Look at how they stand so straight and confident, not at all like someone caught in the act." "I’m in the same year as Taylor, and although he wasn’t much of a student, he never disrespected any female classmates." "Yeah, even when girls confessed to him, he always kept his distance. We used to tease him for being too timid!" This commotion had already attracted the attention of other upperclassmen, many of whom knew Taylor. Their validation further improved the crowd's view of Arthur and Taylor. Taylor nodded quickly, "I just love to slack off. I’ve always been lazy since I was a kid. While Arthur was clearing the weeds, I couldn’t help but take it easy, so my hands are clean. I can't believe that because of this, we're being wrongly accused." Taylor sounded extremely aggrieved. If it would clear him of the suspicion of ogling girls, what did it matter if they called him lazy? He'd even embrace being called a born slacker if it helped! The crowd listened in silence. To boldly admit to being lazy was indeed a thick-skinned move. Seeing that the situation could turn against Finley, Everest, despite being extremely annoyed, could only swallow his pride. He managed a strained smile, "It seems we misunderstood you two." He thought giving them an out would make them back down, but Arthur had other ideas. Arthur spoke plainly, "Since it was a misunderstanding, I would appreciate an apology from you both." He paused, then added, "Mr. Everest, as a role model, and Finley, as the student council president, should understand the importance of apologizing when in the wrong, right?" Everest and Finley's fists clenched so tightly that their nails dug into their palms! "Arthur!" Everest's voice nearly burst through his teeth. Arthur raised his eyebrow in response but showed no signs of backing down. Kent and Henry couldn't stand it anymore. "Arthur! Don’t push it too far!" Arthur coolly countered, "What? Do you intend to abuse your positions as student council president and teacher to bully us?" This was a dangerous question. The higher their position, the more cautious they had to be. As the student council president, Finley was essentially a representative of the students. His actions were watched by many. Being labeled as a bully could severely damage his reputation. He had built his status over two years, and he couldn't let a small incident ruin everything. Finley took a deep breath, stopping Kent who wanted to confront Arthur. Gritting his teeth, he struggled but eventually stepped up to Arthur.
