Stronger Every Time I Die

Chapter 309 Another Professor Arrived

They didn’t have to see it for themselves—they could already imagine the scene unfolding in South City. If the media was making such a big deal out of this, then the entire city had to be talking about it. Just imagining the people of South City swarming around Arthur, flattering him, treating him like some kind of big shot—it made their blood boil with jealousy and rage. Among them, no one was more furious than Susie. “Hah! Who knows what kind of shady tricks he used to get those results! Those professors must be blind if they can’t see through it! If I had solid proof, I’d take him down without hesitation—make sure he fell from the top, hard!" Meanwhile, in the Yarbrough family study... The Yarbrough estate’s study was enormous, a place where all important family matters were discussed. At this moment, several family members were gathered inside. The atmosphere in the room was heavy and tense. Zoey’s expression was dark as she turned to Zane. “You were so generous, taking them in. And now that their son has made it big, I bet they’re celebrating. Looks like all your efforts were for nothing, huh?” Her tone was laced with mockery. Zane’s eyes flashed with irritation. Across the room, Maris, his hands still wrapped in bandages, scowled. “I can’t stand that family! Every single one of them makes me sick!” Stephen sat silently, lips pressed into a firm line, lost in thought. Zoey cast a sharp glance at Zane, her lips curling into a sneer. "Arthur has kicked them out more than once. It’s obvious he doesn’t care about them. So what makes you think they’re any use to you?" She smirked. "Or maybe this has nothing to do with strategy at all. Maybe you just wanted an excuse to keep Raelynn around." The temperature in the room dropped instantly. “Enough!” Before Zane could explode, Xylia’s sharp voice cut through the room. Zoey flinched, her body tensing as she immediately fell silent. Xylia shot a sharp glare at Maris and the others. “This isn’t the time for petty arguments! Right now, our priority is handling Arthur, not wasting energy on pointless bickering.” She then turned her piercing gaze to Stephen. “Stephen, go find out where Raelynn and the others stand on this. I need to know exactly whose side they’re on.” Stephen nodded immediately. “Understood.” Just as he was about to leave, Zoey sneered once more. "Go ahead, but don’t get too close to Julie! I’ll never let you marry that manipulative brat!" Zoey had noticed how Julie kept stealing glances at her son. She recognized that look in an instant. She had seen it before. Zoey knew exactly what that girl was up to. Julie was just like her mother—both were nothing but manipulative schemers, still trying to seduce men amid all this chaos! Stephen’s body tensed. For a brief moment, his lips pressed together, but he quickly regained his composure. “Yes, Mother,” he answered stiffly. He was just as curious to know where they stood on the matter. Would they use this opportunity to side with Arthur? South City. In Arthur’s courtyard. As Rowan approached Devon and Sebastian, a voice suddenly called out from the doorway. “Is Arthur home?” Everyone froze for a moment when they heard the voice. They exchanged quick, confused glances. Without hesitation, Rowan immediately turned and stood alongside Sebastian and Devon! They were acting suspiciously, refusing to step aside, and Rowan quickly realized that Arthur must be right behind them! The visitor didn’t enter immediately, instead knocking on the door again. “Is Arthur home?” Ashley glanced at the others before quickly heading toward the door. From their behavior, Ashley guessed the visitor was probably from another university. After everything that had happened, Ashley had grown accustomed to surprises. It was an honor to be noticed by such important people, but what truly mattered was Arthur’s decision. They wouldn’t pass up any opportunity until he made up his mind. Without a second thought, Ashley went to open the door. When the door opened, an elderly man stood outside. He was dressed in a suit, with a white beard and graying hair. His expression was kind and gentle, yet his sharp eyes held an undeniable intensity. With just one look, Ashley got the impression that this was someone remarkable. With a polite smile, Ashley greeted him, “Hello! Arthur is home. Please, come in.” “Ah, thank you,” the old man said, his eyes crinkling with a smile. Looking at Ashley, he asked, “You must be Ashley, right?” Ashley smiled sweetly, “Yes, and may I ask how to address you, sir?” The elderly man smiled warmly. “I’m Hugo from Governance University. Would you kindly show me the way inside?” He had entered through the main door, and from where he stood, he could see the general layout of the house. However, Arthur was nowhere to be seen inside.
