Stronger Every Time I Die
Spencer’s words didn’t just leave Zane embarrassed—everyone who had joined in, questioning Arthur and even demanding he kneel and apologize, felt a deep sense of shame. After all, Arthur had personally invited them. That was a show of respect. Who would want their own engagement party ruined on such an important day? Yet, they had let themselves be led by Zane, disrespecting the host. That was hardly the way a guest should behave. Still, they decided to wait and see how things played out. Meanwhile, Jackson’s gaze remained fixed on the rings Arthur and Ashley were wearing. He gave a slight nod before speaking cautiously. “Mr. Gray, Ms. Gibson, would you mind removing your rings so I can examine them more closely?” Arthur and Ashley exchanged a glance. They had just put these rings on, and neither of them wanted to take them off so soon. But this wasn’t the time to be sentimental. Ashley nodded at Arthur before slipping off her ring first. Jackson quickly put on a fresh pair of gloves and carefully took the ring, inspecting it with professional tools. Arthur, understanding the situation, removed his own ring and handed it over as well. The room fell into a tense silence. Onstage and off, everyone except for Arthur and the Gibson family held their breath. Even though the Gibson family didn’t fully understand what was going on, they knew Arthur’s character. If he couldn’t afford an expensive ring, he would have simply bought a modest one—neither the Gibson family nor Ashley would have minded. But Arthur wasn’t the type to put on a show, let alone deceive Ashley with something fake. They had all seen with their own eyes how deeply Arthur cared for Ashley. After a long moment, Jackson finally returned the rings to Arthur and Ashley. Arthur was about to slip his ring back on when Ashley suddenly reached out and took it from him.She smiled. “Arthur, let me put this on for you.” Arthur froze for a second before chuckling. “Alright.” At the same time, he took Ashley’s ring and carefully slid it back onto her finger. The Gibson family couldn’t help but smile at the sight. It was clear that the events unfolding hadn’t shaken them at all. Compared to the incident a few days ago, they had both matured significantly. The crowd felt like they had just been caught off guard by an unexpected romantic moment. Zane, however, was in no mood to watch any longer. Growing impatient, he pressed, “Mr. Jackson, what’s the verdict? These rings… are they—” He trailed off, but everyone knew what he was asking. Are they fake? Jackson shot him a flat look before stating plainly, “The quality, the craftsmanship—of course, they’re genuine. These are top-tier Mistralith emerald jade.” Jackson’s voice carried through the venue, leaving a deep impact on everyone present. Zane and Stephen stood frozen in place, completely stunned. “How is this possible? How could it be real?” Maris’s mind raced in disbelief. That pair of rings had already been bought by someone else—how could they possibly be in Arthur’s hands? Maris had seen firsthand how fierce the bidding war was. The bidder who won them had fought hard for such a rare and exquisite pair. There was no way they would have handed them over so easily within just a few days. It didn’t make sense. Itcouldn’tbe possible! Zane hesitated before asking uncertainly, “Mr. Jackson, are you absolutely sure about this?” He had spent so much time looking at the rings—was it possible that they were such perfect replicas that even Mr. Jackson had been fooled? Zane clung to that hope, trying to reassure himself. Jackson cast him a cool glance, immediately seeing through his doubts. His tone turned sharp. “Mr. Zane, are you questioning my expertise? If I wasn’t absolutely certain, would I have publicly announced my findings?” He paused before adding, "I took my time because gemstones of this quality are incredibly rare. I was just captivated and wanted to admire them a little longer." Boom! Zane felt like his entire world had come crashing down. It wasn’t just him—everyone who had mocked Arthur earlier now felt their faces burning with embarrassment, wishing they could just disappear. They had blindly followed Zane’s lead, joining in the accusations without ever seeing any real proof. Just because Zane had sounded so confident, they had assumed he must be right. And on someone’s engagement day, no less—what had they been thinking? Zane staggered, nearly losing his balance. If not for Stephen grabbing him just in time, he would have collapsed in front of everyone, making an even bigger fool of himself. He had been so sure of himself, speaking with unwavering confidence, even daring to interrupt the engagement ceremony. Even when Spencer had called Jackson over to verify the rings, Zane had stood firm, leading the charge against Arthur and demanding a public apology. But now, the humiliation came too fast and hit too hard!
