Stronger Every Time I Die
Arthur skillfully powered on his computer and registered an account with a brokerage firm. Navigating to a familiar webpage from his previous life, he quickly located a stock that had just opened for trading and was about to skyrocket. This particular stock had no price limits on its gains or losses, making it perfect for turning a quick profit. Right now, the stock was unremarkable, barely drawing any attention. But in a few days, it would be a completely different story. Arthur glanced at the time and couldn’t help but smile. Being reborn couldn’t have come at a better moment. The only regret was that he didn’t have much money to invest. Even if the stock multiplied in value, his returns wouldn’t amount to much. It doesn’t matter, he thought. I’ve got the script this time around. Opportunities will come again. Closing his laptop, Arthur leisurely pulled out his practice sheets and began working on problems. Zac’s grades weren’t great—barely average at best. Whenever he talked to the Gray family about it, he’d blame his poor health for his lack of improvement. Arthur’s grades, while not stellar, were consistently better than Zac’s. Yet, whenever they brought their test papers home, the Gray family would shower Zac with praise and rewards, completely ignoring Arthur’s accomplishments. In his past life, Arthur had been deeply hurt by this. He worked tirelessly to improve his grades, hoping they’d notice him. It wasn’t until he drowned in the sea that he finally understood: no matter how well he did, the Gray family would never care. Now, reborn, Arthur knew better. Studying isn’t about pleasing anyone. It’s for myself. As night fell, Arthur thought back to his previous life, when he had constantly overworked himself to the point of illness, neglecting his health for the sake of work and studying. This time, things will be different. He stretched, wincing at the pain from his injuries. Your health is the foundation of everything. Without it, you can’t enjoy life. After a quick wash, he collapsed into bed and fell asleep. The next morning, warm sunlight bathed the earth as lively birds perched on branches, chirping merrily. On the school field, groups of students walked toward their classrooms, chatting and laughing as they discussed the latest gossip. Their youthful faces radiated energy and optimism, untouched by the burdens of life. They walked confidently in their uniforms. The early morning atmosphere at school was brimming with the spirit of youth. Arthur stood on the dormitory balcony, taking it all in. For the first time, he realized how beautiful school life could be. In his past life, years of relentless bullying had kept him hunched over, his eyes glued to the ground, wishing he could disappear from everyone’s sight. He had never truly noticed how wonderful the campus was. Arthur inhaled deeply as he made his way to his classroom. Inside, his classmates engaged in a lively discussion. “Did you hear? Arthur actually called the cops!” “Yeah, I heard! Xavier and the others are still in detention at the station!” “I can’t believe he called the police! Isn’t he afraid of Zac retaliating?” “With so many people locked up, I doubt their parents will let Arthur off the hook either!” “And have you heard?” One of them leaned in conspiratorially, lowering their voice. After glancing around to ensure Arthur wasn’t nearby, they continued, “I heard Ashley’s the one who helped him out!” “Ashley?” The room collectively gasped. “That explains why he dared to call the cops. Ashley probably made the call for him, right?” “Does that mean Ashley’s going head-to-head with Zac now?” The students’ eyes lit up with excitement. Both Zac and Ashley were known as untouchable forces in the school. For the longest time, they had kept to their own lanes. However, it appeared that they were finally heading toward a collision. “Hey, good morning.” A light, breezy voice rang out behind Arthur. He turned around to see Ashley, and a faint smile appeared on his face. “Morning.”After the brief greeting, Ashley walked past him, heading toward her classroom. Ashley and Arthur were in the same grade but in different classes. Arthur watched her confident stride for a moment before stepping into his own classroom. The bustling room instantly fell silent at his arrival. Many had seen Ashley greet Arthur in the hallway, and the speculation only grew stronger. Arthur must have latched onto Ashley for support! Before the students could fully digest the news, another figure appeared at the door. Zac stood there, his gaze fixed on Arthur’s upright posture, his eyes burning with resentment. It’s all his fault! He stole the Gray family’s affection from me! That morning, Zac had clearly felt a shift in Julie’s attitude toward him. It wasn’t as warm as before.
