Stronger Every Time I Die
The scene from just moments ago was seared deeply into their eyes and hearts. Susie was utterly stunned. She lay motionless on the cold floor, her mind blank, her ears ringing, and her vision blurred. One by one, warm droplets of blood trickled down her cheek, splattering onto the ground, and even more so, onto the hearts of those around her. Rosie's voice quivered. "Blood... Susie, blood..." Susie stared in a daze at the vivid crimson pooling beneath her. She reached up and touched her ear. The blood was flowing from there. Julie's voice cracked with panic. "Doctor! Doctor! Hurry! Someone, get a doctor!" A wave of dizziness washed over Susie, sharp, searing pain stabbing her ear in relentless pulses. She knew John had ruptured her eardrum. He was ruthless. They were his own children. Yet for the sake of Zac, he had struck her over and over again. It was only now that Susie truly grasped the full extent of John's outrageous favoritism. The doctor arrived and took Susie away. Raelynn erupted in fury, screaming at John like a madwoman, while Julie and Rosie clung desperately to Susie, their eyes brimming with an intensifying hatred for their father. Even John himself was momentarily dazed by what had just transpired. In his fit of rage, he hadn't realized how hard he had hit her. Just before Susie was taken away, he instinctively stepped forward, wanting to say something. But the others blocked him, their wary stares filled with alarm, as if afraid he might hurt her again. He opened his mouth, but then the memory of Susie's words struck him. She had called Zac his illegitimate son in front of everyone. That brief flicker of remorse in his heart was instantly swallowed by fury. In the end, he never voiced a single word of concern. The hospital room was in complete disarray, and outside, a crowd had already gathered. The revelation of Zac's true identity spread like wildfire. "Oh my goodness! I always thought the way he treated that adopted son was suspicious. There were rumors before that Zac was John's illegitimate child, but I never believed them. Turns out they were true!" "No wonder John has always shielded Zac. He was willing to abandon his own son for him! I can't believe it. Zac really is his illegitimate child!" "Then who is Zac's mom? John must have been madly in love with her to neglect his own flesh and blood like this." "Does Mrs. Gray know? She's always been known for her grace and dignity, and she's stunning too. Who would've thought even she couldn't escape being cheated on?" "Oh my, I heard Zac and Arthur's birthdays are only three days apart. That means John must have been with Zac's mom almost immediately after being with Mrs. Gray?" "Pregnancy is calculated from ovulation, so the exact timing isn't that precise. But one thing is certain. John was definitely involved with both Mrs. Gray and Zac's mom in the same month." "D*mn, high society is a complete mess." "Have you noticed? Even their names seem to tell a story. Zac and Arthur, it's almost poetic. The letter 'A' comes first in the alphabet, while 'Z' is last, yet in this family, Arthur was the one cast aside, left to fade into the background, while Zac stood at the forefront." "Yes! I always felt something was off. And apparently, Zac even owns shares in Gray Corporation!" "John took Zac to every high-class banquet and elite gathering, introducing him to the upper circles, while Arthur remained invisible. Most people didn't even know the Gray family had another son." "We all assumed Zac was the rightful heir of the Gray family. When it was revealed that he was just an adopted son, we were floored!" "Looks like John had been grooming Zac as his successor from the very beginning. And not just that, he was deliberately suppressing Arthur." "Mrs. Gray used to dote on Zac so much, even at the expense of her own child. She must be drowning in regret now." "She was an idiot. She ignored her real son and pampered a stranger's child." "I'm really curious. Who exactly is Zac's mom? Is she some kind of goddess, for John to be this obsessed?" "Maybe she was his one true love. The one that got away is always the hardest to forget." The crowd erupted in frenzied discussion. Now that Gray Corporation had fallen from grace, people felt far less pressure to gossip. As their voices filled the air, Raelynn's face turned ashen with rage. Indeed, she regretted it. From the moment she discovered Zac was Renee's son, she had regretted it. She regretted it so much it made her sick to her stomach.
