Chapter 206 Shadows in Seacity

Fortunately, Nancy and Spencer didn’t gain much from this either. With Walker Group on the brink of bankruptcy, there wouldn't be much left even if they received the penalty fees. When the time came, it would be even easier for him to make his move. A shadow of emotion flickered in Zane’s eyes, unreadable and fleeting. After everything that had happened, no one was in the mood to celebrate. The banquet ended abruptly, with guests dispersing in haste. South City. Stanley arrived once again, delivering the latest clothing Ivan had designed. Looking at the young and accomplished Arthur, his eyes were filled with pride. Over the past two years, Stanley had come to treat Arthur like his child. Now, seeing Arthur achieve such remarkable success in both business and academics filled him with deep joy. Ever since Arthur ranked first in the national exams, Stanley had been bursting with pride. Ashley poured him a glass of water, which he quickly accepted with a nod of gratitude. Arthur asked, “How’s the acquisition of Gray Corporation’s shares going?” The moment business was brought up, Stanley’s expression turned serious. He spread the documents out in front of Arthur and pointed at the numbers. “We’ve acquired 37% of Gray Corporation’s shares so far. That includes the shares from Mrs. Gray, Ms. Rosie, and Ms. Susie—they willingly sold their shares to us. As for Ms. Julie’s shares, she transferred them to Zac’s name earlier, so she doesn’t currently have the right to buy or sell them. Now, the only shares left are the 13% in Zac’s hands and the 51% held by John.” Arthur listened to Stanley’s report and nodded. “What about Zac?” At the mention of Zac, Stanley’s brows furrowed slightly. “He’s holding onto his shares tightly. Ms. Julie’s lawyer is preparing a lawsuit. When she transferred the shares to Zac, there was a note stating that it was only a temporary transfer, not a permanent gift. Plus, there’s no evidence that Zac ever paid her for the shares. However, Renee is backing him and has been interfering behind the scenes. It’s still uncertain whether Julie will be able to win the case.”Arthur stood up, clasping his hands behind his back as he gazed out the window. After a moment of silence, he said, “Give Julie some help. Quietly.” Stanley nodded. “Understood.” Arthur’s expression didn’t change as he asked his next question. “Have you found out who’s backing Renee?” Stanley shook his head. “They’re being extremely cautious. We haven’t been able to track down who’s behind her, but based on what we’ve uncovered so far, there’s a high chance they’re in Seacity.” “Seacity?” Arthur and Ashley said in unison, exchanging surprised looks. The name alone was enough to catch them off guard. After all, they had just returned from there. And Ashley—she had grown up in Seacity. “Any other information on that person?” Arthur asked immediately. Stanley shook his head. “Nothing yet.” Both Renee and Zac’s father were extremely cautious. Even after exhausting every connection, they hadn’t uncovered a single clue. Stanley thought to himself—once Cloudia Corporation became powerful enough, finding information like this would be effortless. Arthur frowned slightly. "Keep me updated the moment you find anything." "Understood." Ashley, who had been silent all this time, suddenly spoke. “Arthur, Mr. Lane is hosting a celebration tonight to honor your achievement of ranking first in the national exams. Knowing Zac, there’s no way he’ll sit back and let you steal the spotlight without trying something. Why don’t we go and see how things play out?" Stanley’s eyes brightened as he immediately agreed. "That’s right! Zac would never sit around in a hospital, letting others talk about him while you steal the spotlight. His pride won’t allow it. I’d bet he’ll find a way to show up. This could be the perfect opportunity to gauge his reaction and possibly uncover some useful information." Arthur mulled it over for a moment, then nodded. “Alright. Mr. Lane has already called me several times. Let’s go check it out.”South High. Jacob’s celebration was extravagant. He had invited every student and teacher from the school, determined to make it an unforgettable event. It was a celebration, but also a source of motivation for the other students. A way to show every student that hard work could lead to success. With such a large crowd expected, the only suitable venue was the school itself. South High had a massive outdoor field, big enough to accommodate all the students and faculty. Jacob worked fast. After just two days of preparation, the school’s field had completely transformed. The decorations were so extravagant that the whole place felt like a festival—almost like a New Year’s celebration! Clearly, Jacob had spared no expense. And even though he had spent a fortune, he was thrilled—even happier than on his own wedding day! As the evening approached, students began arriving one after another. Those who got there early pitched in to finish up the last-minute decorations, adding to the lively atmosphere. Even though Jacob had hired professionals to handle most of the setup, organizing an event of this scale took an incredible amount of time and effort.
