Stronger Every Time I Die
But now, things were different. After John and Raelynn returned home, their three daughters were waiting for them in the living room. Zac was already asleep. When they saw their parents come in, Julie stood up first to greet them, "Dad, Mom." Julie was already the general manager of the company, and compared to her two younger sisters, she was much more composed. John and Raelynn nodded. Julie asked, "How did it go with Arthur?" The phone call mentioned that Arthur had been bullied, but they weren't sure if it was true. He had even caused a scene at the police station, which made their family look bad! Arthur was the type of person who would lie easily, so they had to suspect that this was just part of his act to gain sympathy. Susie spoke dismissively, "Hmph, it's definitely a lie! He's just trying to manipulate us! First, he wanted to live at school, then he was allegedly bullied, and now he's even causing trouble at the police station. He's just jealous that Mom and Dad like Zac more! He just won't let us live peacefully!" As she spoke, she looked behind her parents, "So, he didn't come back with you?" When they were younger, he had done similar things. He was always jealous of how their parents favored Zac. But in the end, he always apologized. This time, it seemed like he was really pushing his luck by causing such a scene at the police station! John and Raelynn looked at each other, and then Raelynn sighed as she opened the door to check on Zac, "Arthur has gone to live at school. He really was bullied." Raelynn looked at Susie disapprovingly, "From now on, you should pay more attention to Arthur. He is your brother too." Susie instinctively retorted, "He's not my brother! I don't have such a brother!" "Nonsense!"This time, even John was unhappy with her. Susie looked at them in confusion. "What's wrong with you? Is Arthur up to something again?" Their parents sighed and said nothing. Julie asked, "So, he really did go to live at school?" They nodded, "Yes." "That's fine. At least he won't cause Zac to end up in the hospital again," Rosie said. "That's enough," Raelynn interrupted. "Arthur left in a hurry and didn't pack much. Let's go to his room and tidy up his things so we can ask the driver to send them over." John remained silent as he took the lead toward Arthur's room. Even though they hadn't given Arthur an allowance over the years, the Gray family was still large and wealthy, so his room should still contain some valuable things. He couldn't believe his son was in such a dire situation that he had to work part-time to earn a living. No matter how he looked at it, there was really no need for his son to live like that. Julie and her sisters followed their mother's orders and followed. In all these years, they had never visited Arthur's room, and now that he was gone, they were curious to see what valuable things he might have kept in there. They went upstairs and looked around but couldn't find Arthur's room! As a family who lived under the same roof, as his parents and sisters, they had no idea where Arthur's room was after all these years. If they told anyone about this, it would be truly embarrassing. A flash of guilt crossed Raelynn's eyes. It's because I've neglected Arthur too much, as a mother, I don't even know where his room is. This is a complete failure on my part. John called the housekeeper, Mandy, over and asked, "Where is Arthur's room?" Mandy was surprised. Do they not know where their own son's room is? But as their housekeeper, she knew not to ask unnecessary questions, so she respectfully led them to the room. "Sir, madam, ladies, please follow me." Mandy led them through a series of rooms, and eventually stopped in front of a small storage room at the corner. "Sir, madam, ladies, this is Arthur's room." Under their confused eyes, she proceeded to open the door. The small room became fully visible to everyone. They were all stunned, it was such a pitifully small room. The door even has a sign that says "Storage Room" on it! "Arthur… How could he live here?" Raelynn asked in disbelief. John furrowed his brow tightly, clearly upset, he asked Mandy, "What's going on? Why was Arthur living in a storage room?" Mandy sighed internally but told the truth. "Sir, Arthur moved into this storage room when he was eight years old. He has been living here for eight years."
