Her Mind Is Full of Juicy Gossip
The Quirk family didn't understand why Isabella would think that, but from what they could discern, it seemed as if Isabella was so frustrated that she could only laugh. Meanwhile, due to Roland's reveal, everyone around gasped, looking at Ethan with a peculiar gaze. “Really? He's that school bully?” “But he doesn't look like it.” Some of their high school classmates were also present, so they had memories of Ethan from back in the day. Relieved, Owen let out a sigh. He had initially thought that Roland had uncovered something significant, only to find out that he had just recognized Ethan as the one he had fought with back in high school. “What are you even talking about!” Stephanie exclaimed in shock. How could her boyfriend possibly be such a despicable person? “You must have mistaken him for someone else.” “Ms. Nox, your boyfriend's name is Ethan Tucker, right? Has he had plastic surgery before?” Stephanie was taken aback. It was true that Ethan had undergone plastic surgery. She had seen photos of Ethan from the past, but the reason he gave her was that he had once been in a car accident. “Back then, he bullied a classmate, and I ended up hitting him in the face. After that, he got expelled from school and decided to go abroad for plastic surgery,” said Roland, his gaze icy as he looked at Ethan. “I'm surprised you have the nerve to show your face around us again!” Roland had never despised someone this much before. His fist remained clenched, as if he could pounce at any moment to land another punch. In the meantime, Alexander's other friends had also rushed over.“Is he that bully? D*mn, how dare he show up here?” Aiden couldn't help but blurt out. “Even if he is, why choose this moment to beat him up? Roland is a cop, so such impulsivity is unlike him,” Damien said. “Could Roland have been afraid that his appearance might frighten Sasha?” Ines asked, clearly puzzled. “Then he should have found an opportunity to do it discreetly,” Clifford replied in exasperation. Deborah didn't say much, but she, too, thought that Roland had acted impulsively. At that moment, Alexander realized what was wrong. Given Roland's personality, if he were to find out about Sasha's affair with Ethan, his initial reaction would likely be to confront Sasha and demand an explanation. Only after that might he resort to physical violence. However, Roland's initial reaction was a burning desire to annihilate Ethan, mirroring their last high school brawl. Back then, Roland discovered that Ethan had imprisoned Sasha with ill intentions. In his rage, Roland had beaten Ethan to a pulp, leaving him unrecognizable. Having come to that realization, Alexander suddenly found himself at a loss for words. The Quirk family members who were nearby had also gathered around Alexander and Isabella at this point. Unable to contain their curiosity, they couldn't help but question Alexander. “Alex, what on earth is Roland thinking?” Christopher couldn't help but ask. There was no need for Alexander to answer, as Isabella had already started to complain in her mind, simply because the situation was too absurd to not comment on. What is he thinking? It seems that even the most unfortunate souls possess a kind heart, never resorting to suspecting others with the worst intentions. Then again, I shouldn't think like this. Sasha's usual demeanor is simply too misleading. In high school, she was a victim, never revealing her feelings for Ethan. The surveillance videos we showed Roland later also led him astray. The Quirk family members wondered what kind of surveillance videos Isabella was talking about. At that point, Alexander recalled how, in those videos, it seemed like Ethan was always forcefully pulling Sasha, who seemed reluctant. Her head was always lowered, and she even appeared to struggle quite a few times. If viewed from a normal perspective, one would assume that Ethan had dirt on Sasha and was forcing her to sleep with him. If I weren't an impartial observer, I might have believed that Sasha was the victim. After all, she wasn't playing hard to get; she genuinely felt that what she was doing was wrong. She didn't want to cheat while being known as Roland's girlfriend, but she couldn't resist the one she loved. The struggle and pain in her heart were real and irresistible. Hence, her actions on the surveillance footage seemed like she was being coerced. Even the police, observing her behavior and expressions, might come to that conclusion. But the truth is that Ethan doesn't have any dirt on her. At this moment, the Quirk family finally understood. Silently, Alexander heaved a sigh. He's a police officer, so he's seen countless young women in similar situations. Most of them choose to endure under duress. Coupled with Sasha's usual behavior, her unease and absent-mindedness, she appears to be an innocent victim. That was why when he was shown the surveillance videos earlier, he murmured, “Why didn't she tell me?” He was referring to how Sasha didn't tell him despite being threatened and harmed. The Quirk family members cursed at how it all made sense. After all, Sasha's character was indeed weak, so she was the kind who was easy to manipulate. Was it any surprise Roland had misunderstood? Alexander speculated that Roland must have thought Ethan had some sort of leverage over Sasha, like videos or photos, which was why she had been so compliant and cooperative. As for the matter of the child, he only remembers that Sasha held him that night. His memory of everything else was vague, so he wasn't sure if he was physically responsive at that time. Thus, he just assumed that he was. However, it's now become clear to him that he was set up by Sasha. He has never actually been intimate with her. Despite Sasha's actions of keeping the child and deceiving him, he doesn't doubt her feelings for him. The Quirks thought, He still doesn't doubt her after all that? Alexander wondered if it was because Sasha once wanted to abort the baby. Sasha has always craved security, yearning for a safe haven, for a child. The fact that such a person once considered terminating her pregnancy was, in Roland's view, a testament to Sasha's internal struggle and agony. Although he's upset that she didn't confide in him, he can't bring himself to resent her for her betrayal. The Quirks: So he decided to rush right over here to beat up Ethan? What a huge misunderstanding! Then is this wedding still going to happen? Is he really going to let this matter go just like that? Is he really that much of a fool? Then again, considering it from a different angle, if the one you truly loved was subjected to such persecution, would you then despise her, abandon her, resent her? This is undoubtedly a question many people can't answer. Nonetheless, they, who knew the truth, really couldn't stand it! Alexander had already sensed that this was likely how things were going. After all, Roland had provided a reason for resorting to violence. It wasn't about Owen's illegitimate child, nor was it about Sasha being blackmailed. It was just that annoying, age-old grudge. Roland truly has it tough. He doesn't dare let his mother know about Ethan being an illegitimate child, fearing the shock might harm her already frail health. He even mistakenly thinks his lover is the victim, so he doesn't dare to reveal that he was cheated on and almost played for a fool. He's terrified that Sasha, with her delicate disposition, won't be able to handle the blow and might not survive it. Not to mention the whole situation is tied up with the reputation of two families, so he has no choice but to swallow his humiliation. His only outlet is to vent his anger physically, even if it means losing face in the process. The Quirk family felt frustrated as they listened. If the situation were as Roland had imagined for Sasha, this couple is indeed pitiable. Roland is a real man for being able to suppress his anger in such circumstances while trying his best to protect his girlfriend. Unfortunately, his sincerity is met with nothing but ingratitude.
