My Best Friend’s Brother Was Never Supposed to Taste Me

Chapter 381

♡ Mia's pov ♡ I've heard horror stories of party games going wrong, very wrong. One minute you're clothed, the next your bare ass cheeks are on full display for everyone to see. Yeah, I don't want to be a part of that. "Come on Mia," Colby whined, fingers circling around my arm to tug me over to the half-drunken and wasted teens. " Don't be a bore." He whines, eyes pleading as I pushed my heels into the sand to somehow stop his tugging. I shook my head, peeking over his shoulder to the teens seated on the log ready to play whatever this drinking game was. I didn't know any drinking games and didn't want to find out what it was either. "I hate games," I seethed lowly. " Especially party games. " Colby groaned, head dipping as he whispered. " Come on, it's another chance to get Brian's attention. " Colby was right, it was a way to gain someone's attention. Someone who refused to look at me again. It's a good opportunity to regain Kade's attention. Besides, it's just a game, right? It's not like it would kill me. So I finally nodded much to his pleasure and much to my annoyance. I reluctantly allow him to lead me towards one of the logs around the crackling fire that just so happens to be facing Kade. He doesn't lift his gaze again and disappointment settled heavily in my stomach. Was he that upset that I still wore the dress tonight? Brian who had been sitting beside Kade stands up and walks over to me. He grins, eyes shifting to the guy who sat beside me. A silent conversation seems to go on with the two using their eyes. Soon the guy who strongly smelt of alcohol moves away leaving the space for Brian to sit. I stiffen when his big shoulder brushes against me. I gave him an awkward smile, not sure to tell him I rather want some personal space. But I bit my tongue as usual and decided to shift more towards Colby. It goes unnoticed by Brian thankfully. I didn't want to upset him. This was his party after all. Well bonfire, whatever you call it. "Told you you got his attention," Colby's lips brush against my ear. It didn't create any effect on me other than irritation at his words.I turn to him, glaring into his blue eyes. "Shut up," I hissed lowly. "Okay Madison, pass on the beer!" The sickly sweet yell came from Brianna. My gaze is suddenly drawn to her, or them I should say. I didn't like the feeling I got when my eyes fell on Kade's arm wrapped around her waist. And he was still ignoring me! I know it was his usual to ignore me. But still, I wanted his attention tonight. Not in the way like earlier where he was angry, but in the way where his eyes would express his desire for me. I could feel my teeth hurt as I grit them against each other. So lost in my staring and thoughts of throwing Brianna off of Kade, I'm suddenly drawn out by a red plastic cup being thrust into my hand. I take it with a lost expression, bringing the cup to my nose to smell, only to wrench back. "What is this?" I coughed faintly. It smelled sour, or something like that. I couldn't describe the smell so well because I never smelled it before. Whatever contents that were in the cup were surely not edible or safe. Brian laughs beside me, his head leaning forward so he could whisper. "It's beer. We need it for the game. We can't play a drinking game without a drink." I looked at him sheepishly, smiling in embarrassment. "Can't I have water instead?" I asked politely. I didn't know what the game was about, but I sure as hell won't be drinking that nasty thing. Brian looks amused. I suddenly felt a burning pain on my thigh. I bit the inside of my cheek to reign in the scream as I swat Colby's fingers away. That idiot really did just pinch me. I should make him walk his way back to his house, alone. " Come on, show him you can have a good time, " Colby whispered, nudging my shoulder with his. "You don't want to be the odd one out, do you?" My gaze swept over to Kade. Brianna takes a sip of beer and giggles, her eyes dancing whilst she looks at him. I nervously looked away when she looked my way. No, I don't want to be the odd one out. "I can switch the beer to some water if you want? " Brian suggested shoulder brushing against mine. I let out an awkward giggle. " No, it's okay. " If I have to drink the beer it wouldn't hurt to just take sips. No one will know. I turn to Brian fully. It was clear that he was trying to form a conversation with me. The least I could do was not ignore him when he was the one who invited me here in the first place. " So how does this drinking game work?" I question. He shifted slightly, lips curling into a grin as he looks at me. " Well, Brianna loves to play it a little differently than others," My brows furrow. Differently? Is it a bad different or good? Seeing my confusion, he continues. " She loves getting everyone drunk. The game is simple honestly. She'll suggest things teenagers would normally do and if you've done it before you drink. If not, you don't. " He shrugs. The game did sound simple, but something told me it wouldn't be. I nodded, trying to hide the fact that I was anxious about the game. I've never drank before and I certainly didn't want to start now. If I do have to take that sip, I'll not swallow. There was no way I'd want to have that disgusting liquid on my tongue for too long. Brian smirks. " Sure you don't want that water? " I flushed. I wanted to say yes but everyone had a cup of beer in their hand. I shook my head no against my better judgment. Brian chuckles, bottom lip dragging between his teeth as his eyes flashed with mirth. "It'll be fine. If you get drunk, I'll take care of you," Take care of me? I didn't question him but just settled for a shaky smile. Brian had never shown interest in me before and I was confused why he was suddenly. Sensing a burning stare made me rip my attention away from Brian to the steeling eyes of Kade. Finally, he was looking at me. Or I should say glaring. His angry eyes pin the cup in my hand disapprovingly. Good at least I got his attention. Feeling happy about my little success, I grip the cup more firmly and brought it to my lips. Of course I wasn't going to drink the beer, just decided to tease Kade a little. My heart skips when he scowls. Maybe teasing him further would be a bad idea. I move the cup away from my lips. "Let's start!" Brianna chirps in excitement, her arm circling around Kade's neck to hold her steady on his thighs. There's a chorus of agreements seconds later. " There are some new guys joining us for the first time tonight so we'll go easy on them," Brianna flashes me a smile. I looked away flustered when everyone looks my way."Okay, the game is easy. I'll say what I think we've all done before and you'll drink if I'm right. If I'm wrong, you'll not take a drink. Now that I've made it clear, let's begin!" She squeals in excitement, one leg kicking up to show exactly that. My stomach tightens in nerves. Maybe I shouldn't play. "Relax," Colby whispered, nudging my arm. "Cheated on an exam." Brianna laughed, drinking some beer out of her cup. My eyes were glued to Kade and noticed he and I were the only ones who didn't drink from ours. "See it's easy," Colby whispered. I shrug. Yeah it's not that bad I guess, it could be worse. "Had sex in the school's bathroom." Brianna teased, eyes scanning around. I stiffen. I press my lips together, my eyes not leaving Kade's. He stares right at me while lifting his cup and takes a sip. Mostly everyone did. My stomach twisted uneasily. I didn't like knowing he had sex with someone. I know I shouldn't, but I did. And I found myself wondering who the girl was even though I knew I'd never find out or was it any of my business. " Had my first kiss before the tenth grade," Brianna looks around, smiling as she lifts her cup to her lips. Everyone did, except for me this time. Brianna lifts a brow, looking at me shocked. " Eleventh grade? " I looked around awkwardly knowing the question was directed at me specifically. I think everyone knew it was directed at me. " Have you not had your first kiss yet? " She questions, shock filling her voice. Great, I tried not being the odd one out only to be the odd one out. I may not have been looking at her but I knew the question was directed at me. I squirmed under everyone's gaze. I didn't like this game. Clearing my throat, I rise to my feet, not once looking at anyone. " Sorry but I think I'll head home," With that, I started walking away until the walking turns into a sprint. I blinked, humiliated that everyone knew I was probably the only girl in the school who had never been kissed.
