The Despised Luna's Comeback

Chapter 697 You Deserve It!

Rosaline took a step back, her voice calm as she said, "I have no idea what just happened. What could I have done? My gown got stained earlier, so I went to change. I only just got back." Then she glanced at the projection screen and gave a slight, almost mocking smile. "Shame, really. Looks like I missed something big, huh?" I was trembling all over, barely able to stand. Though the projector had already been switched off, everything—everything—had already been seen by everyone. I suddenly turned and grabbed Queenie by the wrist, dragging her out into the open. "Queenie, you were with me that night! You know everything! I didn't do any of that—I was set up, wasn't I? Tell them!" I shouted, my voice cracking. Queenie looked around nervously at the faces of the other werewolves. Then, awkwardly, she pulled her hand free and said, "Wendy ... yeah, we went to the bar together, but I left early. I don't know what happened after that." I froze. I hadn't expected that. Not from her. Panicked, I lunged forward to grab her again—but Eleanor was faster. She stepped in front of me and shoved me aside. "Wendy, I didn't realize you were so shameless. Stay away from Queenie. Don't you dare drag her into your mess." Eleanor pulled Queenie away. I was cornered. Queenie looked at me, but she turned her head sharply to the side, refusing to meet my eyes again. The crowd clustered together, whispering and pointing at me. Some were even taking pictures to share with others. In that moment, I—the heiress of the Wild Pack—had become the butt of every cruel joke in the room. "No ... it's not like that, none of it's true! I was framed!" I cried out, my whole body shaking. And then I saw Caden. I stumbled forward on weak legs, practically crawling, and clutched his sleeve. "Caden, you have to believe me—it was Rosaline! She did this! She set me up!" Caden frowned and stepped away, visibly repulsed. "Rosaline, why would you do this to me?" I rasped. Rosaline, standing next to Caden, turned her gaze toward me. "Me? What exactly did I do to you, Wendy?" "You know everything! You do! Don't act like you don't!" I snapped, furious. But Rosaline simply pressed her lips into a faint smile and gently tapped her arm with her fingertips. "No, Wendy. I don't know a thing." She then leaned in, so close her breath brushed against my ear, and whispered so only I could hear. "You brought this on yourself. You deserve it." Rosaline's POV: I straightened and looked down at Wendy from above. Wendy looked up at me; a flash of fierceness flared in her eyes. She reached out and tried to grab my neck. "Rosaline, if I go down, I'm taking you with me!" But I was ready. I caught her wrist before she could touch me and twisted her arm behind her back without hesitation, forcing her down. Wendy screamed in pain, collapsing onto the floor in a heap. "You're a disgrace!" roared Richard, who had been watching silently until now. His voice boomed through the hall as he stared at Wendy in disgust. "My pack has been allies with Wild Pack for generations—and they send someone like you to represent them? Pathetic. Get her out of here. Send her back to Wild Pack. Now." The butler quickly signaled the guards to escort Wendy out. She glared at me the whole way, her face twisted in rage. "I always thought the Wild Pack heiress was supposed to be a proper lady," someone in the crowd muttered. "Guess she's wilder than we thought." That voice—it was familiar. I looked up and, to my surprise, saw Jessica walking out from the shadows. She smiled politely and walked up to Richard. "Since today is Alpha's birthday, I brought a little gift. I hope you'll like it," she said softly. She opened an ornate box she had brought, and the moment everyone saw what was inside, a collective gasp filled the room. Inside was a top-grade witch's stone, rich in color and clarity. It had been carved into the shape of a majestic mountain, glowing faintly with a soft red aura that shimmered with aura. One glance was enough to tell—it was worth a fortune.
