The Despised Luna's Comeback

Chapter 668 Competitor

Rosaline's POV: "The shoot's going smoothly. We're almost wrapped," the producer said casually as he glanced at me. I nodded while watching Naomi and Jasper filming a scene. These days, both Naomi and Jasper were staying focused and professional. Jasper still glanced at me from time to time, but overall, their emotions no longer disrupted the work. "Thanks, everyone. I'm heading out," I said, nodding politely to the producer before quietly leaving the set. I was only stopping by to check on the shoot, but I couldn't stay too long—there was a business meeting lined up for the afternoon. What was strange, though, was that this contract signing had originally been scheduled for tomorrow morning. But for some reason, the partner company had repeatedly asked to move it up to this afternoon. Since I didn't have anything else planned, I agreed. Still, I was curious—what could've made them so eager to meet earlier? "Ms. Sinclair, it's a call from Mr. Reed," my assistant said, handing me the phone in the car. Josef Reed was the CEO of the company I was meeting this afternoon. "Mr. Reed, I'm almost there," I said into the phone. We were scheduled to meet at a tech park where I planned to invest in building a film and television base—part of my strategy to show them the strength and vision of Starplay Entertainment. But instead of a warm welcome, I was met with an apologetic tone on the other end. "Ms. Sinclair, I'm sorry—would it be possible to meet somewhere else instead?" "Mr. Reed, what are you trying to say?" I frowned, sensing something off. Josef hesitated before speaking again. "The thing is, I value this partnership with Starplay Entertainment very much. I just thought we could ... talk things through first and, well, maybe do the site visit another time." His vague and evasive explanation didn't sit well with me. My voice dropped a notch. "If you're no longer interested in partnering with Starplay Entertainment, you can just say so. No need to beat around the bush.""No, no, Ms. Sinclair, that's not it at all!" he rushed to explain. "To be honest ... another company is also eyeing the tech park. And from the looks of it, they're determined to get it." Now he had my attention. So we had a competitor. And not just any competitor, one bold enough to declare they were going to win. That kind of confidence intrigued me. After all, in the entertainment world, there were very few players who could compete with Starplay Entertainment. "Mr. Reed, why don't you just tell me the name of this company?" I asked directly. "Uh ... It's the Haroldene Entertainment," Josef said cautiously, as if the name alone might offend. "Haroldene Entertainment?" I frowned. The name didn't ring a bell, so I signaled my assistant to look it up. And to my surprise, the results showed it was a brand-new company, registered less than a week ago. I was genuinely curious—how could a brand-new company have the audacity to challenge Starplay Entertainment like this? And they were prepared for it, too. "Mr. Reed, if I'm not mistaken, the CEO of Haroldene Entertainment is sitting right across from you, isn't he?" A faint smile tugged at the corner of my lips. Sure enough, I heard the shuffle of movement and the sound of a chair sliding on the other end. I kept the phone to my ear, waiting patiently. After a moment, a smooth, almost silky voice came through the receiver. "It's been a while, beautiful and clever as ever." The moment I heard that voice, my whole body tensed. Thatvoice ... Whoever it was, he anticipated my reaction, because I soon heard a low, mocking chuckle. "Let me introduce myself. I'm Connor Lamar." Now that caught me off guard. I'd honestly thought I'd never see Connor again—that odd man with his cryptic vibe. And yet, here he was, jumping straight into my business affairs without warning. I didn't respond right away. Instead, I glanced down at the information my assistant had just handed me, running calculations silently in my head. If I were right, the Rampage Pack would announce Connor's identity as their second young master in just a few days. And whatever he was planning ...Well, the sudden appearance of Haroldene Entertainment was likely just the beginning. Part of me even wondered if Connor was doing all this out of spite, trying to get back at me and Caden. "What's wrong? So surprised you can't even speak? Didn't expect to hear from me again, did you?" Connor teased, clearly enjoying himself. I let out a soft, slow breath before replying with a faint curve of my lips. "Surprised? A little. I didn't expect to hear your voice again so soon." "And that's it? Just hearing my voice is enough? You don't even want to see me?" His tone carried a hint of mock disappointment, but I could already imagine the smirk on his face. He was probably dripping with sarcasm. I let out a light laugh and said coolly, "I'm here to do business with Mr. Reed. If it's about meeting you personally, I don't see the point." Then I paused deliberately. "Please pass along a message to Mr. Reed—if he's still interested in working with us, I'd be happy to ... " But before I could finish, Connor cut me off. "Ms. Sinclair, if you have something to say, you should say it to me directly. I have no interest in playing messenger. And like I told you, that land is mine. If Starplay Entertainment doesn't want to fight for it, then just step aside." His voice was full of confidence, and he hung up before I could even react.
