The Despised Luna's Comeback
I turned my head slightly, glancing at my phone to find several missed calls from Kelsey. The memory of his situation brought a bitter smile curl on my lips. This pampered playboy really was completely useless. But then, my thoughts shifted to my older brother, Michael. I began to wonder how his attempts at getting closer to Rosaline were going. Once I'd regained my composure, I headed to his office. "Why are you here?" Michael asked, clearly surprised by my unexpected visit. His concern grew when he noticed my displeased expression. "Who did something to upset you?" I was about to rant about Rosaline, but I held myself back. Instead, I walked over to the sofa and sat down, giving Michael a pointed look. "So, how are things with Rosaline? Have you made any progress?" At my question, Michael paused before letting out a light chuckle. "What do you mean?" "Don't act innocent! Hurry up and win her over!" I raised my voice just a little. If Michael really managed to secure Rosaline's affection, I wouldn't have to deal with that Omega myself. But instead of answering right away, Michael seemed to think for a moment before replying. "You know, after spending some time with Rosaline, I've realized she's something else. She's strong, independent, and doesn't let anything get to her. She handles things effortlessly, and being around her just feels like home." A smile slowly appeared on Michael's face as he spoke. I raised an eyebrow, confused. "What's with you? Why are you praising that Omega?" Michael met my gaze, his smile softening before he suddenly asked, "If I really end up with Rosaline, would you be okay with her becoming your sister-in-law?" "What?" I stared at him, completely stunned. I could hardly believe Michael, the heir to the Wild Pack, was saying this. I studied his face carefully, wondering if—God forbid—he had actually fallen for Rosaline. Was it possible he was serious about her? "Rosaline would definitely be a good match for the position of Luna in the Wild Pack," Michael said, almost to himself as he rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "Michael!" I shouted, jumping up from my seat."Why are you making such a fuss? What happened today to get you so upset?" Michael blinked, clearly caught off guard by my reaction. I took a deep breath, closing my eyes to calm myself. "It's nothing. Just ... go ahead and try for Rosaline if you want. Let's see how that works out." With that, I spun on my heel and stormed out, my mind simmering with anger. I couldn't believe it. Michael, of all people, had fallen for that Omega. What was so special about Rosaline, anyway? She had so many other remarkable werewolves around her—what made her stand out so much? Naomi's POV: After seeing the psychologist and getting much-needed therapy, my emotions had calmed down, and my life and work were slowly getting back on track. "Yeah, I'm doing better now," I answered Samuel softly, speaking into the phone. "Good. Make sure you get plenty of rest. If you need anything, you know where to reach me." Samuel's voice came through the phone, sounding warm and reassuring. "I really appreciate everything you've done for me these past few days. Thanks for always being there." We talked for a little while longer before Samuel had to attend to a patient, and the call ended. "Dr. Foster again?" Sandra asked, walking over. "Yeah, he's been a great help. I needed to thank him properly," I replied softly. "I get the feeling Dr. Foster doesn't think of you as just a friend," Sandra teased, giving me a sly look as she drove. "Dr. Foster what?" I mumbled, distracted as I sent a message to Rosaline, not quite catching her words. Pulling the car to a stop, Sandra shook her head, smiling. "Never mind, forget I said anything. We're here." "So mysterious," I muttered under my breath as I stepped out of the car. The sun was so bright outside that I had to shield my eyes with my hand. As I did, Sandra's teasing words echoed in my mind. Samuel was a doctor. Of course, he'd be kind to me."Stop overthinking, Naomi. Focus on your work," I whispered to myself, trying to shake off the distracting thoughts as I walked into the building. But just as I was about to step into the elevator, the doors suddenly stopped, blocked by someone's hand. Jasper walked in. I froze, caught off guard. "Sorry about that," Jasper said, looking up and meeting my gaze with a smile. A soft smile appeared on his face. "What a coincidence." "Jasper ... didn't expect to see you here," I replied, a nervous flutter forming in my chest. "I haven't seen you around the office lately. My manager mentioned you were on leave." Jasper said, looking at me with curiosity. Remembering everything that had happened, I lowered my gaze, not wanting to meet his eyes. "Uh ... yeah. Just took a few days off to deal with some things." What would Jasper think if he knew about that incident? Would it change how he saw me?
