The Despised Luna's Comeback
"What's wrong?" Samuel asked. He must have seen the discomfort on my face. He started to look around as well, but there was no paparazzi in sight. "Nothing. I'm used to it." I chuckled. But that unsettling feeling of being followed lingered faintly around me. I pressed my lips together, thinking maybe I was just overly tense. After all, the security here was top-notch, and with the membership system in place, paparazzi shouldn't be able to get in. The hunger in my stomach made me too lazy to dwell on it any longer. If something really got exposed, I would just clarify it. After all, there was nothing improper between Samuel and me, so there was no reason for any misunderstanding. Walking into the restaurant, I was stunned to see the interior design. No wonder so many people recommended this place; it had such a nice vibe. The werewolf waiter led us to the reserved private room, with a large wall connecting to the aquarium outside, where beautiful fish swam freely. On the other side, the night scenery came into view. I felt so relaxed being in such an environment. "Take a look at what you want to eat." Samuel handed me the menu with a smile. "Alright then, I won't hold back." I smirked, then ordered some dishes that were recommended online. After ordering, I couldn't help but exclaim when I saw the night view, "It's really beautiful." "As long as you like it," Samuel responded lightly. I chatted with Samuel, and suddenly I found that I really enjoyed being with him. The heir of the Meteor Pack was polite and maintained a certain distance, but he didn't make me feel too distant at the same time. I felt like we were old friends; silence between us wasn't awkward as well. The dishes in the restaurant were served quickly, and I looked at the exquisite food on the table. Although I was hungry, I was a bit hesitant to eat. "What's wrong? Don't you like it?" Samuel asked when he saw my expression.I waved my hands and cleared my throat. "No, it's just ... " "Just what?" Samuel looked at me nervously. "It's just that in such a beautiful place, I feel like I should eat more elegantly," I said and pursed my lips. "Haha!" Samuel chuckled when he heard my words. "What are you laughing at?" I pouted. Samuel propped his face up and looked at me gently. "You're adorable." I paused with the fork in my hand. Our eyes met. "What are you staring at? Here, try this." Samuel placed some food on my plate and shook his head helplessly. I pulled myself back together and tried the dish he placed on my plate. The burst of flavor from the food made me nod my head repetitively. I even forgot what I wanted to say. We chatted happily and lost track of time while eating. I kept stuffing my mouth until my stomach felt full, then leaned back and closed my eyes happily. "I'm so full. The food here is really delicious." I let out a huge breath. "If you like it, we can come here often," Samuel said softly while pouring me a glass of water. "Wow, if we come here often, I'll get fat. I need to maintain my figure, so you can't make me fat." I wrinkled my nose. "Okay, I've found several other nice restaurants recently. If you can't go, I'll take photos for you," Samuel said with a hint of mischief in his eyes. Hearing that, I said to Samuel, "Wow. If you even try to tempt me, I'll block you." "Sorry, I promise to bring you out to eat," Samuel quickly apologized when he saw my annoyed expression. Looking out the window, I was suddenly drawn to a place. "Wait. What's that place?" Following the direction of my finger, Samuel explained, "That's an artificial lake, which was recently developed. You can go boating on it and enjoy the scenery. Wanna try?" I nodded. "Yeah. Let's do some exercise and burn some calories." Samuel nodded, and we got up from the private room and headed toward the artificial lake.Although it was early autumn now, the temperature had not dropped sharply; it was still warm, and the evening breeze blowing on my face felt nice. I carefully got on the boat and swayed with it. "Be careful!" Samuel saw that I was unstable and quickly reached out to stabilize my body by holding my waist. The position left me half-embraced in his arms. When we both looked up, our faces were so close that I could clearly see my own reflection in Samuel's clear eyes. This is ... kinda flirty ... Samuel was the first to react; he quickly let me go. "Thanks." My face grew warm, and I quickly took a deep breath, nodded with a smile, and then turned my head to look at the view by the lake. The small boat glided steadily across the lake. I lowered my gaze and gently reached out to touch the surface of the water. The coolness of the water clung to my fingertips, and for a moment, I found myself completely immersed in the tranquility of the moment. "Naomi," Samuel called out. Samuel pointed toward the sky, and when I looked up, I was stunned to see a sky full of stars. The same starry sky was reflected on the surface of the water, and our little boat floated right between reality and illusion. The beauty of it all left me speechless. "Breathtaking! I haven't seen so many stars in the city." I took out my phone to take a picture, but the camera failed to capture the scene properly. "It's a shame the phone can't capture this. Otherwise, I'd definitely show it to them when we get back." I turned to him with a smile and said, "Thank you, Samuel." "Naomi." Samuel called my name again gently, which made me feel butterflies in my stomach. Looking at Samuel's sincere face, my heartbeat quickened. "I ... want ... " Samuel looked at me with a dazed expression, his lips slightly parted. I looked at him, waiting for him to say the words that would make my heart race. However, the boat suddenly began to shake violently.
