The Despised Luna's Comeback
The next day, not long after I arrived at the company—about an hour later—the front desk called through the internal line. "Ms. Sinclair, someone is here to see you. He says he's your friend." "Who?" I asked, puzzled. My friends were just a few from Rivemon. They wouldn't require an appointment to visit me at Starplay Entertainment, much less face any obstacles at the front desk. "He said his name is Joel. You know him." When I heard that name, I froze instantly. Prince Joel? Why is he here? I pressed my lips together. Though I was confused, I didn't think it was right to leave the werewolf prince standing at the front desk. Besides, someone had already taken photos of us dancing at the banquet—I didn't want to cause any more commotion. "Let him come to my office," I said calmly. The moment Joel saw me, he smiled and greeted me warmly. "Rosaline, do you still remember me?" I gave a polite smile. I didn't have any particular feelings toward Joel, and I had no idea why this werewolf prince was here. A Eurotian noble werewolf probably wouldn't have any business dealings in Rivemon. "Of course I remember. I wonder why you are looking for me. Is there something you need, Prince Joel?" I asked with a courteous smile. He most likely got my name and address in Rivemon, along with the company info, from Michelle. Had Michelle already started treating me as a love rival? She told him everything. When Joel heard this, he smiled even more brightly, a look of pride on his face, like a child waiting for praise. "Do you like the necklace I gave you?" I widened my eyes instantly, and my mind jumped to that expensive handmade necklace from yesterday. At first, I thought Caden had sent it to surprise me—turns out it was from Joel. I paused for a moment, then shook my head. "Thank you, Prince, but I ... don't really need such a valuable gift. I'm sorry."As I spoke, I returned to my desk, opened the drawer, and took out the jewelry box. "You should take it back." As soon as Joel saw the jewelry box, he panicked, his eyes full of sincerity as he asked, "Why? Is it because you don't like the gift I gave you? I can get you something else. I think this necklace looks great. It suits you. Please accept it." At that moment, a few coworkers had already gathered outside the CEO's office to watch the scene unfold. One by one, they were peeking through the glass, whispering among themselves. "Isn't Ms. Sinclair about to get engaged to Mr. Holbrook? Who's this foreign guy? He looks like he's really into her." I shook my head. "No, what I mean is that I really don't need it. Oh ... sorry, I have to take a call." Hearing the phone ring, I gave Joel a quick word, and when I noticed that it was Caden calling, I pressed my lips together. Since I wanted Joel to leave anyway, I might as well answer it in front of him. "Hello, Caden. What's up?" Caden said with a smile, "I'm getting off work early today. There's not much going on at the office. Want me to take you out for shopping?" "Oh ... I have a guest here. Maybe later." Joel didn't know who Caden was, but he clearly noticed the intimacy between me and the person on the phone. Unable to hold back any longer, he said directly, "Rosaline, ever since you came to Michelle's banquet, I haven't been able to forget you. You're gorgeous, and you dance so gracefully ... I really like you. I hope you'll be with me. I'll always treat you well!" Joel didn't lower his voice at all, so even the employees outside the glass could vaguely hear him. Their faces lit up with surprise and gossip. Of course, Caden heard it too. "Who's with you? Joel? The guy from Fostrau I ran into last time when I came to pick you up?" I was startled too. His tone was clearly off—I had no mood to deal with Joel anymore. After all, Caden being jealous was the most dangerous thing. I glanced at the man across from me, then hurriedly picked up the phone and walked out. "We'll talk when I come downstairs, okay? You're downstairs, right?" After a moment, Caden finally replied with a quiet "Mm-hmm." I rushed out of the office and then out of the building. I immediately saw Caden's car parked outside. I jogged over to Caden's car, opened the door, and got in the passenger seat. I hurriedly said, "I don't even know how Joel found this place. And that necklace yesterday was from him ... Never mind that. Just drive. Don't eat yet—go to your company. He followed me out."
