The Despised Luna's Comeback

Chapter 42 The Drama Unfolds

I decided to ignore Caden and walked straight toward the bathroom. As soon as I entered, I caught a faint, low voice from within. It sounded like Stella, and I could barely hear my name slip from her lips. My hearing is sharper than most, so I couldn't resist listening more closely. Stella's voice was laced with anger and jealousy. "Ms. Crawford, don't worry, this plan is foolproof. I will make sure Rosaline is removed from the Eclipse Group." Ms. Crawford? Was she referring to Wendy? Stella and Wendy were working together? It seemed they had hatched another scheme to trap me. I couldn't help but scoff. Stella and Wendy seemed to think they could push me around, but they didn't know who they were dealing with—I was the Alpha of the Shadow Pack. ... A week passed, and Wendy hadn't appeared at Eclipse Group again. Even Stella, who was usually causing trouble, had stopped bothering me. On this day, Bruce, the CEO of Lady Couture's parent company from Montagne, was visiting the Eclipse Group. As the head of the Lady Couture's project, it was my responsibility to pick him up from the airport. Before I left, I double-checked the materials I had prepared for the meeting with Lady Couture. After making sure everything was ready, I stood up and headed toward the airport. Just as I was about to step into the elevator, I noticed the doors were about to close. I hurried forward and shouted, "Hold the door!" Just as the doors were about to close, a tall figure appeared from the side and wedged his foot in to stop them. "Thanks ... " I froze when I saw who it was. It was Caden. Standing tall before me, with his serious gaze, he spoke, "Aren't you coming in?" "Oh right, thanks." I smiled and entered.Caden followed me into the elevator. "I'm coming to the airport with you," he said casually, as if he knew I'd wonder why. I was taken aback. "I can go alone." After all, why would Caden, soon-to-be Alpha of the Eclipse Pack, bother with such a trivial task as picking someone up? Caden stuffed his hands in his pockets, his imposing height casting a quiet authority beside me. He glanced at me and explained, "Bruce Collins, the president of Lady Couture, is a friend of mine. It's only respectful for me to personally pick him up." Though I found his reasoning odd, I said nothing further. I nodded, and we made our way down to the parking garage. Caden was driving a Rolls-Royce today. He opened the door for me, signaling for me to get in. "Thanks!" I slid into the passenger seat and fastened my seatbelt. Caden started the car; he gripped the wheel with his long, steady fingers. "How's the preparation for the Lady Couture's meeting?" he asked evenly. "I've got it covered," I replied with confidence. I had a feeling today's meeting wouldn't be simple—something big was about to go down. An hour later, we had reached the airport. I checked my watch, noticing that Bruce's flight would land in about ten minutes. "I'm going to the restroom for a moment," I told Caden. He nodded slightly. In the restroom, I quickly sent a text, "How is everything going?" The reply came fast, "All according to plan." A smile spread across my face. Everything was under control. When I returned to the lobby, Bruce had just gotten off his flight. Bruce was in his thirties, tall, and muscular. His blonde hair, blue eyes, and fair complexion made him strikingly handsome."Hey, Mr. Caden!" Bruce greeted him with warmth, pulling him into a hug. "Long time no see." Caden remained his usual reserved self, cool and detached. I stepped forward with a polite smile and greeted Bruce in Fostrauian, "Mr. Collins, it's a pleasure to meet you." "This beautiful lady is ... ?" Bruce's blue eyes sparkled with admiration as he looked at me. Caden gave me a brief glance before introducing me to Bruce. "This is Ms. Sinclair, the project lead for our collaboration." Bruce spread his arms wide, as if ready to embrace me. "Ms. Sinclair is stunning! Have we met before?" I extended my hand and shook his firmly. "Mr. Collins, you're too kind. We probably just look similar to people around here, that's why I seem familiar." Actually, I had met Bruce years ago, when I was 15. My grandfather and I had attended a gathering in Fostrau, where I briefly encountered Bruce. Thankfully, he didn't recognize me now. Otherwise, my carefully hidden identity would be at risk. We escorted Bruce and his assistant back to the Eclipse Group, and right at 2 p.m., the Lady Couture's project meeting began. I had prepared an impressive presentation. Although Bruce is able to speak Estragan, I chose to present in Fostrauean, covering the project's progress. The representatives, including Bruce, nodded in approval, their expressions full of admiration. Once I finished, I was met with enthusiastic applause. Even Caden, who was usually so composed, clapped for me. I glanced deliberately at Stella. She forced a smile, but her eyes blazed with jealousy I smiled faintly. "Now, let's take a look at the specific design plans for this phase." I reached for a folder and pulled out the sketches. The moment the papers were exposed, everyone in the room gasped in shock. Because the pages I held were completely blank!
