The Despised Luna's Comeback

Chapter 401 Someone Is Making Things Worse

Wendy's POV: I lay slumped on the couch, staring at the flood of online news about my night with that gigolo werewolf at the lounge. Michael pulled every string he could, but it was impossible to keep it under wraps. "Just look at what you've done—you've disgraced the Wild Pack!" His eyes burned with disappointment as he glared at me. "Michael, I never intended for this to happen!" I protested, frustration rising in my voice. "I had everything arranged, but who could have predicted Caden would ... " Before I could finish, Michael cut me off sharply. "Unbelievable! The esteemed Ms. Wendy of the Wild Pack, sank to such disgraceful tactics. Do you really think Grandpa won't exile you once he finds out?" "What else can I do?" Panic surged through me as I pleaded in desperation. "Michael, I love Caden with all my heart! I know he's the one I'm meant to be with—I can't lose him!" Michael studied me with a deep frown before letting out a weary sigh. "This is all because of that wretched Rosaline!" Just thinking about that night—Caden being drugged and repeatedly calling her name—made my blood boil. If not for that shameless Omega, Rosaline, luring him in, Caden would have been mine by now! "Wendy, why does it have to be Caden?" Michael asked, sitting next to me as he gently patted my head. "There are plenty of outstanding werewolves in the pack, some of whom—" "I only love Caden!" I cut him off, clutching his arm tightly. "Michael, please, I need your help!" Michael's POV: "I can't do anything." I let out a sigh as I glanced at my sister, completely consumed by her feelings. "Trust me, the Moon Goddess will lead you to your true mate. Get some rest." With that, I stood up and walked away. Something about this whole situation felt off. That night, reporters had caught Wendy and the gigolo werewolf together in the lounge. I had already warned those reporters that with the Wild Pack's influence, none of them should dare to write nonsense again. Yet now, the internet was overflowing with scandals about my sister, and the topic had even become a trending topic. If not for the unexpected earthquake in Yerkshire shifting the public's attention, the uproar would have lasted even longer. There was no doubt—someone was pulling the strings behind the scenes. Who could it be? Could it be Caden? Was he furious that my sister had drugged and trapped him, so he wanted to ruin her completely? For the sake of the Wild Pack's reputation—and for my sister—I decided to confront Caden. After leaving Wendy, I headed straight for Eclipse Group. The werewolf receptionist recognized me immediately and allowed me to pass without question. I took the elevator to the top floor, stopping in front of the CEO's office. After adjusting my clothes, I knocked on the door. "Come in!" Caden's crisp voice rang out. I pushed the door open and walked in. Caden's POV: As the heir of the Wild Pack stepped inside, I was focused on my computer screen, coordinating relief efforts for Yerkshire. Since Rosaline refused to let me intervene, I had to find another way. Hearing the door open, I glanced up and was slightly taken aback to see Michael. "It's you?" I said, eyebrows raising in surprise. "Mr. Holbrook, I need a moment of your time," Michael said, striding directly toward me. I frowned slightly. "What is it?" Without hesitation, Michael got straight to the point. "I'm here to apologize on Wendy's behalf for what she did.""I have no interest in revisiting this incident," I replied icily. "Wendy has already faced the consequences of her actions. Make sure she learns from this—because I won't tolerate a next time." "As Wendy's brother, I take responsibility. I've indulged her too much," Michael admitted. "But Mr. Holbrook, you nearly destroyed Wendy's reputation. Now, the internet is flooded with gossip about her, and it's seriously affecting her." I arched an eyebrow. "What, do you think I'm the one behind the rumors?" "You're saying it wasn't you?" Michael stepped closer, locking eyes with me. A cold smirk crossed my lips. "It wasn't me." All I did was have Yale Lynch arrange a werewolf for Wendy—whatever happened after that had nothing to do with me. There was no reason to lie to Michael. "Then who else could be responsible?" Michael asked, his brows knitting together.
