The Despised Luna's Comeback
The door suddenly burst open. A group of reporters charged in, their cameras aimed at me and the werewolf beside me in the floral shirt. "What are you doing?" Startled, the werewolf scrambled away from me and hurriedly dressed. The reporters, faces alight with excitement, fired questions at me. "Ms. Crawford, is this man your boyfriend?" "Ms. Crawford, how long have you two been together? When do you plan to go public with this relationship?" Blushing, I quickly grabbed my clothes to cover up. "Get out! I don't know him!" "Ms. Crawford, you don't know him? Then why were you two together here at the Wild Pack's 50th anniversary celebration?" "Get out of here!" Michael and Grandpa, who had hurried over after hearing the noise, stood at the door with grim expressions. I could not bring myself to look at them; I just kept my head down and hurried to dress. Grandpa walked up and delivered a sharp slap to the werewolf in the floral shirt. Michael removed his suit jacket and draped it over me. "What's going on here?" "Michael, I've been framed!" I sobbed, though I could not reveal the full story. Today's debacle was all part of my own plan. First, I orchestrated a scenario to be seen with Caden, then had Lilian tip off the reporters as well as the Alpha of the Wild Pack and Michael. I had not anticipated that Caden, even drugged, would manage to push me away and summon Yale to take him away. Adding insult to injury, they sent a flamboyantly dressed werewolf to distract me! Now, surrounded by reporters, I was facing the consequences of my own scheme. However, I was relieved that the reporters had interrupted before anything more could happen with the werewolf.Still, my current disheveled state had been fully documented, utterly ruining my reputation! "Embarrassing! How embarrassing!" Grandpa exclaimed, stamping his foot as he shouted at the reporters, "Get out! Get out!" As an Alpha, his command carried weight, and the reporters hesitantly filed out. "Nobody is to leak anything about today's incident, or they'll answer to the Wild Pack!" Michael warned sternly. If the media reported on today's events, my reputation in our pack would be irreparably damaged. After the reporters had left, Michael looked down at me with a mix of confusion and frustration. "What exactly happened?" "I-I was drugged," I claimed, gritting my teeth. "We must investigate this thoroughly!" Grandpa's eyes blazed with anger, his Alpha presence so intense it made me shudder. "Grandpa, let it be. I'm fine now," I pleaded softly while grasping his hand. I knew that if Grandpa delved deeper, he would uncover that it was all my own doing. Unfortunately, one move short, and the whole endeavor falls short! "Alpha, I'll handle this," Michael interjected, sensing something amiss. He suggested to Grandpa, "The banquet is still going on. You should return to greet the guests." Grandpa shot me a stern look before exiting the room. "Wendy, tell me the truth," Michael's gaze hardened, and I knew he would not be easily deceived. "Michael, I ... " I faltered under his scrutinizing eyes, eventually murmuring, "I just want to be with Caden." Michael was silent for a moment before his patience snapped. "This is unacceptable!" I shivered as he scolded me, his expression filled with disappointment. "Wendy, how could you stoop to this?" "Michael, I love him too much! I can't just watch him be with other women." Tears pooled in my eyes as I begged, "Michael, please, you have to help me." Michael looked at me, his face unreadable, and after a long pause, he sighed heavily.Caden's POV: The morning light streamed through the window, waking me. I groggily opened my eyes and found myself in Rosaline's bed. Rubbing my temples, memories of the previous night gradually resurfaced. I had attended the Wild Pack's 50th anniversary celebration only to be drugged by Wendy. Fortunately, my willpower held, and I managed to escape her trap at a critical moment. Yale had then brought me to Rosaline's place. Lost in thought, I was brought back to the present when Rosaline entered the room. "Are you awake?" she asked. "Yeah," I nodded faintly, unease lingering as I recalled the conversation with Rosaline from last night. "How are you feeling? Better now?" Rosaline approached and inquired. "Much better," I responded, my tone cool. Noticing my pallor, Rosaline took my hand and asked, "What's bothering you?" "Why did you reject me last night?" I questioned, my expression tense and displeased. Rosaline nodded, understanding the depth of my question. She smiled gently, "Didn't I explain last night? If you can't accept my reasons, we might need to rethink our engagement." I fell silent for a moment, then resolved, "No more rethinking. You are mine." I assertively pulled her closer by the shoulder. Leaning in, my lips near her ear, I affirmed, "I will respect you." She gave a small nod. "Thank you." My heart stirred as I played with her bangs, twirling them around my fingers. "I hope we can get married soon." Rosaline chuckled softly, "Dream on."
