The Despised Luna's Comeback
Rosaline's POV: I glanced at the surrounding onlookers, finally locking eyes on Candice, one of the props crew. "I'm sure none of you dispute Anthony's analysis. This check was forged with Sarah's signature, meant to frame her." I paused, letting my voice grow cold, my gaze piercing into Candice. Before Candice could respond, Lina suddenly stepped forward and collapsed to her knees in front of me. "Ms. Sinclair, I'll confess! It was Candice who instructed me!" Lina's sudden confession caught me off guard. I looked down at Lina. "Stand up and explain yourself." Nodding vigorously, Lina got to her feet. "Ms. Sinclair, I won't hide anything. It was all orchestrated by Candice. She told me to drug your horse and switch out the prop knife. I'm so sorry, Ms. Sinclair!" "Lina, what nonsense are you spouting?!" Candice exclaimed, glaring daggers at Lina for her betrayal. "Ms. Reese, I'm sorry. I can't bury my conscience anymore. I need to tell the truth." Lina's eyes welled up with tears. "It's my fault. I did it for the money, betraying Ms. Sinclair. But it was because of my brother ... He's ten, with a severe heart condition, and the surgery is too expensive. I had no other way to get the money," Lina choked out, her voice trembling. "That's when Ms. Reese approached me, offering a substantial sum and promising to bring a renowned surgeon for my brother if I followed her orders. For my brother's sake, I agreed. I couldn't bear to watch him suffer any longer, and the thought of losing him was unbearable," Lina sobbed. "For days now, I haven't slept peacefully. The nightmares won't stop, and I know I was wrong. Ms. Sinclair, I'm truly sorry for betraying you like this. I shouldn't have done it for money!" Lina continued, bowing her head repeatedly. My brow furrowed as I stepped forward to help her up. "Get up." With Lina standing, my icy gaze shifted back to Candice. "Candice, do you have anything to say?" "It's a lie, she's framing me ... " Candice's face turned pale, desperately clinging to her facade. Before Candice could finish, the crew members stepped aside to clear a path. A tall man in a black suit, wearing gold-rimmed glasses, strode in. He was a werewolf with an authoritative presence. "Shut up!" he barked at Candice. "Brother?" Candice looked up, shocked to see him. Narrowing my eyes, I recognized the formidable werewolf as Cyrus Reese, Alpha of the Phantom Pack and Candice's brother. "Candice, how could you do something so foolish? You've disappointed me greatly!" Cyrus glared at her, his voice commanding. "Apologize to Ms. Sinclair right now!" Candice met Cyrus's eyes with defiance. "Why should I apologize to that Omega b*tch, Rosaline? She stole my fiancé!" "Do you still not understand what you've done wrong?!" Cyrus's brows furrowed as he slapped Candice hard across the face. Candice clutched her stinging cheek, staring at Cyrus in disbelief. "You hit me? How could you hit me for that Omega?" Her delicate features twisted with rage, making her look almost sinister. Everyone around was stunned, watching the scene unfold. "Ms. Sinclair, I apologize for my sister's actions. I take full responsibility. As an Alpha I should have disciplined her better. I promise to prevent anything like this from happening again." Cyrus bowed deeply to me. "Please accept my deepest apologies, Ms. Sinclair." I smirked slightly. I understood perfectly well that Cyrus's dramatic act—publicly reprimanding Candice and now earnestly apologizing—was all to shield her. Candice's actions were serious crimes within the pack. Clearly, Cyrus cherished his sister deeply. "Very well, for the sake of the Phantom Pack's Alpha, I'll let this go today. But remember, Alpha, keep your sister in line. If this happens again, I won't be so lenient!" My voice was cold, my eyes narrowed. "Thank you, Ms. Sinclair!" Cyrus assured me before instructing his wolf guards to escort Candice away. Candice's POV: "Cyrus, what are you doing?" I struggled as they shoved me into Cyrus's car.Cyrus signaled the driver to go. Watching the filming location recede, I fumed. "Cyrus, you humiliated yourself by apologizing to Rosaline. You've disgraced the Phantom Pack!" "The one who brought disgrace is you!" Cyrus snapped, gazing at me sternly. "If I hadn't acted, do you think Rosaline would've let you off? Your offenses are grave enough to warrant severe punishment." "Who cares about that lowly Omega!?" I gritted my teeth in rage. Cyrus shot me an exasperated look. "Rosaline is not someone you can afford to mess with." Seeing the seriousness in Cyrus's eyes, I shrank back slightly, though inside, I remained defiant. A mere Omega with some wealth—she wasn't as formidable as Cyrus made her out to be. One day, I'll make sure Rosaline pays, without mercy!
