The Despised Luna's Comeback

Chapter 271 Come Back to Me

Noticing my flustered expression, Caden chuckled. "Are there any ingredients in the fridge? I'll make breakfast for you." "There's no need, don't trouble yourself. I can do it on my own." Even though Caden was an excellent cook, I didn't want to inconvenience him by making him cook just for me. I attempted to get up, but he gently pressed me back down. Looking down at me, his deep voice carried warmth. "It's really no trouble. If you'll allow me, I'd love to make breakfast for you forever." With that, he turned around and strode toward the kitchen. Watching his tall, upright figure disappear, my mind wandered. It was as if we had returned to the time when we were still deeply in love. Caden had said something similar before. It had only been a month ago. Hearing those words again now left me with an odd sense of familiarity. Taking a deep breath, I pushed away the unexplainable feelings rising in my chest. Lying on the bed, I distractedly pulled out my phone and refreshed the latest news. As expected, last night's awards ceremony had taken over the trending topics. But the real bombshell was that I was the secret boss behind Starplay Entertainment. In an instant, the entire comment section shifted its tone. "Ms. Sinclair is incredible! She's amazing!" "So Ms. Sinclair is actually Jasper's boss, not a homewrecker! We completely misunderstood her!" "Still hoping she and Jasper end up together, but it looks like last night's proposal was just for promotion." "Rosaline and Caden look perfect together. I totally ship them!" The internet had completely wiped away all the negative rumors surrounding me. After scrolling for a while, I put my phone away, got up, and headed to the kitchen. Caden was busy preparing breakfast when he suddenly winced."Ah, I cut myself!" He clutched his right index finger with his left hand. Alarmed, I quickly walked over. "Are you hurt?" "It hurts ... " he murmured, brows furrowed in discomfort. "Why are you so careless? Let me take a look." I said, concern evident in my voice. I reached out to hold his hand, intending to check his wound. But he turned the tables on me, his large hand firmly wrapped around mine. His voice was crisp and cool as he spoke, "Rosaline, you do care about me." Lowering my gaze, I realized something. His hand was perfectly fine! Not a single scratch! He had been faking it the whole time! I was at a loss for words. First, he pretended to be sick last night. Now, he was acting injured today. The aloof and formidable heir of Eclipse Pack, someone others could only look up to in awe, actually had such a childish side. "Caden, are you seriously this childish?" I arched a brow, throwing him an exasperated glare. Before I could even finish my sentence, he stole my breath away, his lips pressed against mine. I gasped, struggling instinctively, but his grip was firm, keeping me locked in place. I despised how overpowering his kiss was, how it felt like he was stealing all the air from my lungs. And yet, for a fleeting second, I forgot to fight back. The sweetness of his kiss ... how I had missed it. Caden's embrace grew tighter and tighter. The heat in the kitchen kept increasing. All of a sudden, a sharp, burnt scent filled the air. What'sthatsmell? I sniffed the air, but the unpleasant odor only became stronger. My gaze landed on the cast-iron pan sitting on the stove. The eggs inside had turned completely black, smoke curling up around the edges. With a forceful shove, I pushed Caden away and shouted, "It's burning!" Caden stood with his back to the stove. It wasn't until he heard my startled scream that he finally let go of me. Turning around, he swiftly reached out and turned off the gas burner with practiced ease. I stared at him, utterly speechless. "Caden, have you lost your mind?!" He stepped closer, gripping my shoulders firmly. His voice was low and intense. "Yes. I must be insane because you drive me crazy just thinking about you!" I was taken aback. He wasn't finished. "A moment ago, when you thought I was hurt, you were worried about me. Deep down, you still love me, don't you?" His unexpected words made my heart race. His deep eyes locked onto mine, and warmth crept up my face. I quickly turned away, grasping for an escape. "It's late. We should get to work." Without waiting for a response, I spun toward the door. But before I could take another step, a strong arm wrapped around my waist, stopping me in place. With a gentle pull, I stumbled back into his embrace. "Rosaline, come back to me, will you?" Caden murmured, his gaze filled with warmth. My chest tightened. "Don't do this." His eyes never wavered. "Tell me, what will it take for you to come back to me?" His voice was steady, laced with sincerity. I met his intense stare, shrugged lightly, and said, "That depends on your performance."
