The Despised Luna's Comeback
"I folded them." Caden raised an eyebrow, meeting my stunned gaze. "I folded every single paper crane. Do you like them?" I did, but ... I frowned slightly and gave Caden a speechless look. "Caden, do you really have this much free time?" Caden reached out and gently rubbed the space between my brows, his handsome face taking on a playfully aggrieved expression. "Didn't you say you wanted something romantic?" Romantic? I only said it casually. Did he really take it to heart? I chuckled helplessly. "That's so cliché." "Cliché?" Amusement flickered in Caden's deep eyes. "If you're not a fan of paper cranes, that's fine. There's more." "More?" I blinked in surprise. What else had he planned? Caden stood up, his long legs quickly closing the distance between us. Taking my hand, he said, "Come with me." He led me to the window and pointed outside. "Look over there." "Hm?" I followed Caden's gaze out the window, only to be met with complete darkness. "What's there to see—" Before I could finish, the beach suddenly lit up with hundreds of candles, arranged in the shape of two intertwined stars pierced by Cupid's arrow. The flames flickered in the breeze, shifting colors like a mesmerizing dream. Then, just as suddenly, the lights dimmed before reigniting—this time forming three bold words: "Rosaline, marry me!" I stared at the beach, completely stunned. Caden took the opportunity to wrap an arm around my waist, the corners of his lips curling into a smile. "Does this feel a little romantic now?" Snapping out of my daze, I pressed a hand to my forehead. "This is even more cliché ... " "Oh, don't worry. There's more." Caden lifted his hand, pointing toward the sky. I quickly grabbed his arm. "Alright, that's enough. Stop with all the surprises."But just as the words left my mouth, a cascade of brilliant fireworks exploded in the night sky, their dazzling colors reflecting off the ocean's surface. At that moment, Caden pulled a red, heart-shaped velvet ring box from his pocket as if by magic. Dropping to one knee, he looked up at me with deep, unwavering eyes and said tenderly, "Rosaline, this is for you." His gaze was like the vast ocean, deep enough to drown in. "Alright, get up first, then we can talk." My lips twitched and I firmly pulled him to his feet. Honestly, I was speechless. Caden, such a proud man, going to such lengths to create all these romantic surprises, he really put in the effort. With the way he pampered me, there was no way I could pretend I wasn't touched or happy. But marriage? That was out of the question. I hadn't even considered becoming his Luna so soon. After giving it some thought, I said seriously, "Caden, your proposal barely passes. But I'm not ready to get married this early." "Why?" Caden frowned slightly, looking at me with a puzzled expression. "Is it not romantic enough?" I pursed my lips. "It's not about it. We've only known each other for a little over a month, and we still don't know each other well enough. Besides, who gets married without even dating first?" My thinking was that if two people were in love and decided to be in a relationship, they should take their time and really enjoy the process. Then, when the time felt right, marriage would naturally come up. Right now, I had just agreed to be in a relationship with him. "I see." Caden lowered his head, his voice low and smooth as he whispered in my ear, "If you're not ready to get married so soon, I won't force you. But we should at least get engaged first." His warm breath brushed against my neck, making my cheeks flush with heat. Before I could respond, Caden suddenly took my hand. A cool sensation spread through my fingers, and when I looked down, I saw that, in the blink of an eye, he had slipped the stunning ring onto my finger. "What are you doing?" I gazed at the ring on my finger, a little stunned.Under the lights, the ring sparkled brilliantly, its large, flawless diamond shining so brightly that it almost made my eyes dizzy. "This is the heirloom of our Eclipse Pack," Caden said, smiling. "My grandpa asked me to give it to the future Luna. Now, I'm giving it to you." He reached out and pulled me into his embrace. Nestled in his arms, my heart began to race a little faster. After a moment of thought, I nodded. "Alright, we'll get engaged first, as you said." The thing was, about the engagement—my grandpa and Richard had already sort of arranged it for us. But that was more of a verbal agreement between two grandfathers, and back then, Caden and I didn't even know each other. Now, it was about the two of us, and our own decision. Seeing me agree, Caden's deep eyes flashed with something different. "Rosaline, I'm willing to wait, until the day you're ready to marry me." "Well, you'll have to wait for a while then," I said, my face betraying me as it turned a little red. "Just don't make me wait too long," Caden said with a playful smile before leaning down to kiss me.
