The Heiress' Savage Comeback

Chapter 537 I Guess You're Not Joking

Elaine, growing impatient, stood up and approached Yoel. She grabbed his collar with one hand, forcefully pulling him up from the ground. With a loud thud, she pressed his face against the meeting table. Then, she slammed the contract prepared by the lawyer in front of him. "Sign the contract immediately. Don't waste my time!" Yoel gritted his teeth and said, "Let's have a private conversation, shall we? I'll sign it once we talk." Elaine narrowed her eyes as her gaze turned icy. Without hesitation, she placed his left hand on the desk before clenching her right fist and smacking it. Bang! Yoel let out another round of piercing screams. He was in so much pain that his entire body quivered, and his face contorted. "Elaine, you're a girl. How can you be so violent? You're becoming more and more irritating! You'll never be half as feminine as Miranda! Miranda might be deceptive, but at least she comes off as gentle. Meanwhile, you always resort to physical confrontation!" Upon hearing his remark, Jonas couldn't help but roll his eyes. "I just realized you people from the Grant family are crazy. During the live stream, it became clear that Miranda had exposed her misdeeds. She even teamed up with others to bully Elaine and push her off the cliff. And here you are telling us that Miranda is better than Elaine? What's wrong with your brain, huh?"With a look of disdain, Sean added, "Do you think Miranda refrained from striking just because she didn't want to? It's simply because she couldn't!" "That's right," Felix nodded in agreement. "During the live stream, it was clear that Miranda wanted to lead the others in attacking Elaine, but they couldn't match Elaine, even when they all teamed up." The color drained from Yoel's face. He ignored the two and fixed his intense gaze on Elaine. A corner of Elaine's lips quirked up. "You find me irritating? Not used to me acting like this? Why don't you just kill yourself, then? You won't be able to defeat me, so taking it out on me is pointless. I won't change myself entirely because of you. Look at yourself. Isn't life exhausting for you? You might as well end it now and spare yourself the trouble of being mad at me." "How dare you!" Yoel was infuriated. "How could you curse me like that? You're so heartless!" Elaine tilted her head, wearing an innocent smile on her face. "You wanted me gone from the beginning, right? You had me sign that contract, thinking I'd be cyberbullied into taking my own life, didn't you? Don't pretend you didn't know the potential consequences when you made me sign it. You run an entertainment company, so you understand what might happen if I followed that contract's clause. Yet, you didn't try to stop me when I put my signature on the papers. I even saw a satisfied gleam in your eyes as if you were eager for my downfall. So, do you expect my sympathy now?"Yoel's face suddenly flushed. His lips quivered, and he appeared to be struggling to speak, but words seemed to be stuck in his throat. When they had drafted the contract, they had indeed intended to encourage netizens to attack Elaine. Yoel was fully aware of the devastating impact cyberbullying could have. Many had been driven into depression, and some had even taken their own lives as a result of cyberbullying. Nonetheless, Yoel still felt they were not to be blamed. Elaine was the one who assaulted us in the first place, and she even sold the shares of the Grant Group at a lower price to our competitor. She wanted to destroy us, so we were just retaliating, wanting to teach her a lesson. We're not at fault, right? "I don't want to waste my time on you anymore. Sign the document right now. If you don't, I'll break your other hand," Elaine threatened impatiently. Yoel gritted his teeth, picked up a pen, and signed the document before stamping it with the company's official seal. Elaine then collected the papers and handed them to the lawyer. Once the lawyer finished the necessary procedures, Elaine would have the legal right to terminate her contract with Aquamount Entertainment, and she would finally regain her freedom. After that, Elaine turned around and was about to leave Aquamount Entertainment.Just as she was about to step out of the office, her phone suddenly rang. It was a call from the police station. Elaine answered the call. On the other end of the phone, a police officer spoke apologetically. "Elaine, I have some news for you. Frederick has stated that Miranda is dealing with a mental illness. He hired a psychiatrist to conduct an evaluation, and she has been diagnosed with schizophrenia. As a result, she has been transferred from the police station for appropriate care. Gavin was also released on bail and is now seeking treatment." In a calm voice, Elaine responded, "Got it. Thanks." A smirk formed on her lips as she ended the call. Filing a police report was just an act she had put on to follow the proper procedure. She had also done it to make the Grants aware of her determination so that they wouldn't have any false expectations of her. Before making a police report, Elaine knew the Grants would have ways to get Miranda out of the sticky situation, even though she was found guilty. Grant Group's business was impacted, but the company had not been completely destroyed. Therefore, it was not impossible for the family to handle such a minor matter. It would be embarrassing for the Grants if they couldn't handle this situation, considering the vast networks and resources that three generations of the family had."So they released Gavin and Miranda?" Theodore asked. He inquired with a tone that implied he wasn't surprised by the outcome. Elaine nodded and replied, "Yes, but soon, they'll realize that prison is the safest place for them. Anywhere else will be a living hell." Theodore raised an eyebrow, and his lips curved into a smirk. It seems she's not going to spare them after all. Theodore said, "Let me know if you need my assistance. I'll be more than willing to help." "Me too. I can help!" Jonas raised his hand. Sean echoed, "Me too! Me too!" Felix rubbed his nose and said, "I might not be able to avenge you, but I can conduct an evaluation to see if you're experiencing any mental health issues." Thud! Theodore gave Felix a light smack on the back of his head. "Be careful with your words. Don't casually label others as mentally unstable." Elaine remained silent in response to their banter. Instead, she stepped forward and cheerfully declared, "I'm feeling generous today, so lunch is on me!" "Great! There's a Thymion restaurant on Eastern Street. Shall we give it a try?" Jonas suggested. However, Elaine vetoed his proposal. "Since I'm treating you to lunch, I'll choose where we eat!" Jonas chuckled and responded playfully, "Of course, madam. We'll go with your choice and order whatever you recommend!" "Why are you calling her madam when you're older than her? Seriously!" Sean was at a loss for words. Jonas defended himself, saying, "I may be older, but Elaine has a more commanding presence than I do. So why can't I call her madam?" They continued bantering back and forth on the topic. Half an hour later, they arrived at a small eatery. Each of them was served a plate of plain pasta with blue cheese. After savoring the pasta, Elaine washed it down with a sip of soda and let out a satisfied burp. The other four had a grim look on their faces, fixating on the blue cheese pasta but hesitating to take a bite. "Theodore, are you sure this is edible?" Theodore's eyes revealed a mix of emotions. His brow furrowed, and he couldn't hide his reluctance. Elaine rolled her eyes at him. "Why would you ask that? Am I not eating it right now?" Her response left Theodore speechless. Elaine continued, "If you refuse to eat it, stay away from me. Those who don't support me won't stand beside me. Shoo!" Theodore's lips twitched. Come on! It's not that serious! After wrestling with his doubts for a moment, Theodore finally mustered the courage to pick up his fork and take a bite. "How is it? What does it taste like? Does it taste terrible?" Sean asked eagerly. Theodore's lips twitched, and then he gave Sean a withering look. "How would I know what it tastes like when I've never tried it?" Sean was momentarily speechless. Theodore continued, "It tastes fine. You can give it a try." Upon hearing Theodore's remark, the others finally picked up their forks and began to eat. They didn't notice anything special with the first bite, but as they continued, they found themselves becoming addicted to the pasta. Despite their initial aversion, they eventually finished their plates. After leaving the restaurant, Sean suggested having some fun at Euphoria Manor, a luxury retreat owned by his family. It was an exclusive destination for the wealthy, with strict entry restrictions for ordinary individuals. Elaine didn't dismiss his idea since she hadn't had much fun since returning to Horington a year ago. Sean added, "The manor is conveniently close to the Southmount Racetrack. We can go there and watch a race tonight. There's an international event happening, and I'll need to be there to oversee it since it's owned by my family. If you're not into car racing, Theodore can take you to other places for some fun." Jonas asked, "Quentin will be racing tonight, right?" Sean nodded, saying, "Yes, he registered for the race. He participates every year without fail. Last year, the race was held in Wallera, and he competed, managing to secure a place in the top ten." Upon hearing this, Jonas commented, "I'm amazed by his dedication to the race. I heard he competes every year to catch Ms. J's attention and stand out on the racetrack." Quentin idolized Ms. J. Ms. J was a legend in the world of car racing, and nearly every car racing enthusiast considered her their idol. A glint appeared in Elaine's eyes as she asked, "Is it still possible for me to register for the race?" Sean froze for a moment. "What did you say?" Elaine repeated, "Is it too late for me to sign up for the race?" Sean replied hesitantly, "Technically, it's too late to register for the race. We've already grouped the racers, and the numbers are finalized. If it were a casual race, you could usually sign up on the spot. While this isn't a major event, it's still quite organized. But if you're determined to participate, you could buy a spot." Elaine asked, "Can you help me buy a spot? A friend of mine—"Sean interrupted, "Certainly. Many racers with average skills intentionally register for the race with the intention of selling their spots to others. What's your friend's name? Just provide the person's name, and I'll take care of the arrangements at the racetrack. All I have to do is switch out the name." Elaine replied, "The letter J." The expressions of the other four stiffened as they exchanged confused glances, all eyes now on Elaine. Sean asked, "You're not joking, right?"
