The Heiress' Savage Comeback
After crawling for one minute, Theodore showed mercy by allowing them to stand up again. While brushing the dust off his hands, Sean commented, "Wow, this exercise is really effective. My back feels much better now." Jonas added, "It's tiring on the hands but it's worth it." Felix looked skeptical. "Does that mean Elaine isn't crazy?" Everyone turned to look at her. With a dark expression, Elaine snapped, "I'm perfectly fine. You guys are the crazy ones!" She turned around and walked into the mansion. Jonas ran after her with a smile, saying, "Don't be angry. Theodore is just concerned about you. That's why he was worried about your mental well-being. By the way, I'm Jonas Slav, the owner of an entertainment company. Since you're no longer staying with the Grant family, I assume you're looking for a new management company. Consider mine. I'm Theodore's friend, and I would never harm you." Elaine replied flatly, "I'm not interested. Leave me alone." With that, she headed upstairs, leaving Jonas speechless. Theodore approached Jonas and grabbed him by the collar from behind. He pulled him backward and warned, "Don't have any designs on her. She's not someone you can mess with." Jonas looked surprised. "Are you interested in Elaine?" Lowering his gaze, Theodore answered, "No, she's just a business partner." Jonas scoffed, "Don't deny it. Are you telling me that you have no feelings for her despite inviting her to stay in your place? Why haven't I seen you invite any other woman over?" Sean chimed in, "Exactly. You even went crazy with her. The only reason you would do that is because you love her. That's why you're willing to fool around with her." Theodore retorted, "What if I told you that I was forced to do it? Would you believe me?" Everyone looked at him in disbelief. Jonas questioned him, "Who has the power to do that? It's clear that you're doing this willingly!" Sean agreed. "Without a doubt, from that happy expression of yours, it doesn't seem like you're being forced against your will." Theodore was stumped by their words. Jonas sighed, "I've been staying up late the last few nights to watch Elaine's livestream. I admit I'm interested in her, but since you are too, I won't compete with you over her." Sean remarked, "I admire Elaine too, as I've never seen someone so unique. Unfortunately, you beat me to her..." When Theodore gave them a side-eye, Jonas retorted, "Don't look at us like that. We didn't know you both knew each other, let alone that you were interested in her. It's normal for us to be attracted to her, but we've given up on her now, so don't be angry at us." Blinking his eyes, Sean remarked thoughtfully, "That being said, Elaine seems to treat Theodore coldly. It seems like he has a lot of work to do before he can win her over. How long do you think it'll take him?" Jonas pondered for a moment before replying, "The longest pursuit I had was ten days. Given how eligible Theodore is, I'm sure it'll only take him seven days if he takes the initiative." Theodore was rich, handsome, and had a good figure. As long as he made the first move, no woman would be able to resist his charms. "When it comes to Theodore, even men would fall for him, let alone women," Felix teased. However, Sean speculated, "That being said, Elaine is different from other women. I think it's going to be a challenge. I bet it will take Theodore at least two weeks." Felix chimed in, "I think it's going to be even more difficult. My guess is more than a month!" Thud! Thud! Thud! Suddenly, Theodore knocked the three of them on their heads, sneering, "I only admire her, so stop making jokes at our expense. If you dare say another word, I'll cut off your tongues myself!" Scratching his head, Jonas replied sheepishly, "We're just kidding. You don't have to take it so seriously." Nonetheless, Theodore snorted. "If you let Elaine hear this, she'll beat all of you up. Don't come complaining to me when that happens." With that, no one dared to joke about Elaine anymore. They had all watched the seven-day livestream and witnessed how ferocious Elaine could be when she fought the monkeys. Just the thought alone sent a chill down their spines. To be on the receiving end of Elaine's fists was a situation too frightening to imagine. A short while later, Elaine came down after changing her clothes. She was wearing black casual pants and a hoodie. She even had a mask on her face. When Theodore saw how she was dressed, he asked, "Are you going out?" She nodded. "Yes, there's something I need to do." "What is it? Do you want me to come with you?" Elaine thought for a moment before answering, "I'm going to make a police report. Can I borrow your car?" Theodore immediately got up. "I'll drive you." However, Elaine declined, "You don't have to. Just lend me your car." Theodore refused, "No, I don't like others driving my car." Elaine had no choice but to accept Theodore's offer. At the same time, Sean, Jonas, and Felix tagged along. At the police station, Elaine presented her ID card to the police, saying, "I would like to report Miranda Grant for attempted murder and Gavin Grant for attempting to cover up a crime." After verifying Elaine's identity, they began recording her statement. Although the police had watched the livestream Elaine had been in and knew about Miranda and Gavin confessing to pushing her down the cliff, they still had procedures to follow. Once Elaine's statement was taken, a police summons for Miranda and Gavin was issued and delivered to the Grant residence. In the meantime, Elaine waited patiently at the police station. It wasn't until half an hour had passed that Miranda and Gavin were brought in. Frederick and Yelena had arrived with them. The moment Frederick caught sight of Elaine, his expression turned dark. With a scowl, he hurried towards Elaine, raising his hand to slap her.“You ungrateful daughter, isn't it enough for you to ruin Miranda's reputation? And now, you're filing a police report against her, hoping that she goes to jail? How can you be so wicked? I'm going to beat you to death if that's the last thing I do!” However, before his slap could land, a powerful hand grabbed his wrist. The next moment, a police officer restrained him before he could see who had stopped him. He soon felt handcuffs being placed around his wrists. One of the police officers warned him, “How dare you cause trouble in the police station? Are you challenging our authority? You'll be handcuffed until you leave so that you won't be able to harm anyone!” Frederick's face turned red with anger as he raged, “I'm teaching my daughter a lesson. This is a private family matter and has nothing to do with the police!” The officer thundered, “Even if she's your daughter, you cannot lay a hand on her. No matter who she is, she's a citizen with rights and is protected by the law. If you dare touch her, you'll be committing a crime, and we'll have the power to arrest and punish you accordingly!” Frederick's chest heaved vigorously, but he refrained from arguing with the police. It was then, as he glared at Elaine, that he noticed the tall and handsome figure standing beside her. The same man who had grabbed his wrist earlier and someone he would recognize anywhere—Theodore Frost!Over the past few years, Frost Group had taken a significant portion of Grant Group's business, making the two companies fierce rivals in the business world. Furthermore, Elaine had sold her shares in Grant Group to Theodore, resulting in his frequent presence in the office and Frederick's frequent encounters with him. However, all their meetings always ended unpleasantly. Frederick scolded, “You're such a b*tch, Elaine! Not only did you sell off the business the Grant family built up over three generations to a competitor, but you're also trying to harm your brother and sister. Will you only be satisfied when the Grant family is destroyed?” A chuckle escaped Elaine before she replied, “The entire nation knows that it was Miranda and Gavin who tried to harm me first, so how can you accuse me of harming them? All I'm doing is protecting my own interests. If the Grant family ends up being destroyed, you only have yourselves to blame. You reap what you sow, so what does it have to do with me?” Grant retorted angrily, “Aren't you unharmed?” “That's true, but it doesn't mean they're innocent.” Frederick's anger surged. “Family members should forgive each other. Even if Miranda has wronged you, you should give her a chance to change! If you continue to be ruthless over something trivial, no one will dare marry you when they see how you selfishly ignore your family's interests. So, listen to me. Drop the charges against Miranda, and we can discuss everything at home. If you do so, I'll forgive you for everything you've done and allow you to come home.” However, Elaine sneered, “Has old age clouded your judgment? I left the Grant family willingly. I feel nothing but contempt for you, and the last thing I want is to be a part of you. Yet you're trying to entice me by allowing me to come home? It seems I have no choice but to ensure they go to prison. Otherwise, you'll still think that I long for the Grant family and want to return. That would truly be the worst thing imaginable.” Frederick's eyes were filled with fury. “You wench! I shouldn't have let you be born, let alone bring you back into the Grant family! Someone as wicked and heartless as you should suffer on the streets!” Annoyed, Elaine retorted, scratching her ear, “You keep talking as if I want to be accepted by the Grant family. If you hadn't begged me to return, promising to make it up to me, I wouldn't have been tricked into coming back.” Frederick's rage left him speechless. After a moment, he glared at Yelena. “Why are you lost in thought? You're the one who gave birth to her, so persuade her not to sue Miranda!” Yelena gave Elaine a complicated look. Despite her hatred for Miranda, she didn't dare go against Frederick's desire to save her. Moreover, Miranda was the daughter she had raised for twenty years and someone she had naturally developed feelings for. With that, she spoke slowly. “Elaine, Miranda was wrong to push you off the cliff, but she has expressed remorse for her actions. Can you forgive her for my sake?”
