The Heiress' Savage Comeback

Chapter 300 Is Differential Treatment Truly Justifiable?

The following day, the three groups descended one after another for breakfast. Jodie, acting as if nothing had transpired, had applied her makeup meticulously and joined them. In stark contrast, Andrew appeared rather despondent, evidently fatigued from a restless night. The stark contrast between the two did not go unnoticed, prompting silent exclamations of admiration for Jodie's mental fortitude and her ability to manipulate the Gray brothers with ease. Post breakfast, the groups prepared to venture out and earn their keep. Zac, having spent considerable time with Simone, had adopted many of her habits. He had become more observant, inquisitive, and strategic in his actions. Consequently, he had engaged in extensive conversations with the restaurant owner and fellow waitstaff during his stint as a waiter. Through these interactions, he discovered a clothing store on the main street that frequently hired temporary models to showcase their traditional attire. The models would don the attire and pose for passersby, enticing them to make purchases. The basic pay was reported to be 45 dollars, with potential commissions for each sale of a traditional attire set they helped secure. Zac was not averse to the idea of attracting customers. He saw it as an exciting opportunity to gain new experiences and hone his acting skills. He proposed the idea to his group, highlighting the potential for earning commissions. Andrew, however, was somewhat reluctant. "Won't we be reduced to mere spectacles?" he questioned. Given the online criticism he was facing, he anticipated increased attention and feared public condemnation if recognized while modeling. I can't bear such humiliation! Zac, visibly exasperated, retorted, "If anyone is being treated like a spectacle, it's you, not us." He scrutinized Andrew before adding disdainfully, "With your looks, you wouldn't even be considered for a job in the fashion industry."Andrew, momentarily speechless, shot back, "As if you'd be their first choice." Zac, raising an eyebrow, responded, "I've been approached several times by both domestic and international companies wanting to groom me as a supermodel. However, my interests lie in the entertainment industry, so I declined. Next time, ask more questions before making assumptions. It'll save you from appearing ignorant." Keira chimed in, "I can vouch for that. I remember it being a hot topic. Top modeling agencies abroad extended offers to Zac, but he turned them down. We even lamented the missed opportunities, given his handsome features and impressive physique." Zac, feigning disappointment, replied, "Well, I did make it into the entertainment industry, didn't I? So, it wasn't a complete waste." Despite his nonchalance towards others' opinions of his appearance, he was confident in his looks and physique. The only opinion that truly mattered to him was Simone's.Keira agreed, "Indeed, your face is quite appealing." While connections in the entertainment industry are important, there are those with strong connections who still fail to achieve fame. Zac is known for his temper, but it's his face and physique that have catapulted him to stardom in just over a year. Zac chuckled, "Thank you for the compliment." Upon hearing Keira's words, Andrew turned to Zac and asked, "Is he really that popular?" Keira replied, "Absolutely, his fanbase is probably several times larger than yours. Although you're decent-looking, you're no match for him in terms of height and physique. If he can model antique-style clothing in stores and make money, why can't you?" "The store owner doesn't even mind hiring you, yet you're disgusted by the idea? If you guys want to slack off, we'll split the bill for meals and accommodation," Zac added. If it were someone else who was easy to get along with, I wouldn't mind, even if they took advantage of me and asked to be carried. But with these two annoying ones, they can just dream if they want to take advantage of me. Jodie, however, had different thoughts. I want to spend more time with Zac. Besides, I can make money simply by dressing up beautifully and standing there in traditional attire. Why bother finding other work? Like the waitress' job yesterday, it was both tiring and dirty. I don't want to do it again. With this in mind, she turned to Andrew and coaxed him sweetly, "Andrew, I think Mr. Turner's suggestion is great. Let's go together." According to Zac, we can earn a commission as long as we can attract customers to buy clothes. This is an opportunity for me to show off my abilities. Andrew felt cornered. Great! Everyone is against me. Even Jo is siding with Zac. It's infuriating. With a stern face, he conceded, "Do as you wish." In other words, he agreed. Otherwise, he would have to find other work alone. Zac, uninterested in further arguments, headed to the clothing store recommended by the restaurant owner. It was the largest antique-style clothing store in Cubilis, strategically located in the city. Zac took the initiative to approach the store owner and inquire about modeling opportunities. The owner, a woman in her thirties who was a fan of their live variety shows, agreed without hesitation. She then turned to Zac and lamented, "It's a pity Simone isn't in your group. Otherwise, she could also model for my store." She was particularly fond of Simone and Zac, and also had a good impression of Keira and Eric. Upon hearing her words, Zac gave her a helpless look. "Yeah, I also wish to be on the same team as Simone." As for Jodie and Andrew, not only are they annoying, but they're also difficult to work with. The store owner smiled and said, "You guys are here to buy some clothes and get changed, right? If you bring Simone, I'll give her a discount. I have three outfits here that I think would suit her. I feel like only she can pull off that kind of look. So, you must ask her to drop by and take a look." Simone will definitely look cool and beautiful if she wears them. Zac, treating those who liked Simone as his own, smiled and nodded. "Alright, I'll speak with Simone later. I will ask her and her group members to drop by the store and choose their clothes once they finish their activities today." Upon hearing that, the store owner beamed. "Excellent. Now, I shall assist you in selecting clothes first." She enthusiastically helped Zac and Keira pick several sets of outfits that suited their appearance and personality, even offering to do their makeup and coordinate accessories for them. After assisting Zac and Keira, Jodie approached her with a smile and asked, "Ma'am, what do you think would suit us?" The store owner's smile faded slightly as she replied, "I'll have someone take you to choose." She called a female shop assistant and instructed her to assist Jodie and Andrew in selecting their clothes. If it weren't for the fact that these two were in the same group as Zachy, and I was afraid that they couldn't earn money and become a burden, I wouldn't have wanted to hire them. As for choosing clothes and coordinating outfits, I certainly won't do it for these two bothersome individuals. After giving her instructions, she enthusiastically took Zac and Keira to have their makeup done. Jodie's smile immediately vanished. How unlucky! I can't believe I still have to consider someone's mood, even for a part-time job in a clothing store. People who adore Simone are all equally annoying. Meanwhile, Andrew was left speechless. Is it really acceptable to treat us differently like this? Come to think of it, Jo and I truly are having a miserable time. We're getting hated wherever they go. Have we stepped on someone's toes? If it weren't for the fact that it's a live variety show and I'd signed a high-compensation contract previously, I would have wanted to quit.
